its better to mine out the whole area not pick out the ores. also again they are 9 blocks tall so you should mine at the third layer and go down 3 at a time as you clear out each layer. ores generate interleaved with the stone. you will need alot of ore so its a good idea to clear out the veins maybe off camera. also redstone can buff your pick. you first need to complete the redstone quest. dont rush to the next age make sure to complete the stone age quests first as alot of them will help. also you should expand the base and make a dedicated storage area with barrels and drawers. you can plant saplings on ic2 crops to get wood passively. you definitely want to take your time and expand infrastructure and not unlock things too quick otherwise you will be in a never ending rabbit hole of needing this and that because you didnt take the time in the previous tier to properly set up and alot of youtubers had to restart because of not doing that. hope this helps.

you should know that veins are 9 blocks tall in all dimensions and so i recommend mining 3 layers at a time and making your way down. once you have the hammer this will be easier. you can also buff your tools with redstone and you can apply 8 at a time in the tinkers crafting station. also you will need alot of ore so i recommend clearing out entire veins at a time. the quest book will have quests for ores you need as they become relevent so again just follow the book...you will also want to maybe consider using crops for growing bonsai trees and there is a questline for ic2 crops. you can always search nei for what veins ores come from dont forget. primary layer and secondary = top and bottom in between is overlapping in the middle and sporadic or around is randomly throughout and the most rare. for example malachite is the sporadic layer so you will find it the least but throughout the whole 9 block area. you will also need a ton of copper and tin and redstone eventually so its best to focus on those as well. although im sure you figured that out for yourself. small ores in this pack indicate what vein may be below although some of them are unique such as silver which only spawns in small ores and are rare so make sure to get those as much as possible. all non pure ores such as pyrite usually indicate a vein while the pure ores like iron gold tin etc can be randoms that dont mean anything. most ores are not pure ores such as pyrite and technically you arent supposed to get a full ingot out of a furnace but gt5u is kind of janky as its built on gt5 which was incomplete and left in an unfinished state and they never rebalanced it. thats why pure ores like crushed iron give 10 nuggets because its supposed to give more as its a pure ore not a sulfide. and unfortunately this was never fixed and inherited in later versions of minecraft as well. gregtech 6 fixes all of this and its the only complete version made by greg himself. i recommend playing a pack with gt6 like bears den or at least gt5u bears den addition as it uses recipe configs to make it more like gt6 which is much better.

also remember to complete quests you can. for example the mob reading quests would have given you the string needed to make the spear. it was after the creeper one. notice the shield one also gave you 1 leather as well.(yes im aware you have done it just reiterating) that is no coincidence. this can help alot early game. also you can click on the item in the quest book to show you the recipe as a shortcut or press u/r over it.

also this pack has been in development for 15+ years and still going. almost every mod for this was rewritten just for this pack and alot of features from 1.12 are backported such as jei style tabs and modern java versions which is supports despite running on 1.7.10.

the soft mallet needs two melons or pumpkins to get seeds. you were looking at the regular hammer recipe which needs metals. pay attention as alot of recipes are very specific and there are alot of ways to craft things because recipes get more efficient when you unlock technology.

A tip for these videos: Get an editing program and break these long videos up into 20-25 min episodes. You’ll then be able to create playlists to organize the videos into series. By doing this you’ll be producing more videos and UA-cam will show your content a little more so you get more views. Plus a shorter video will keep your audience watching a little more. journey to the core is a good second modpack to play. its also 1.7.10 and its been updated recently. its a darkosto pack. i been wanting to see someone complete it. i hope you finish this pack as well. not many have. its more fun to watch if you dont spoil yourself though and figure things out.

looking forward to this. you should complete every quest before moving on as a challenge. its more fun that way i think. you should build a base and a storage room it will help alot also make sure your builds are chunk aligned it makes it easier when chunk loading. make sure to check the other tabs every so often as well. they will unlock as you complete the main story. its designed like an rpg where you should do all the side stuff first and not rush progression. often quest rewards will help you complete other quests too so it flows nicer if you complete the side quests as well. also i do recommend playing with view mode not showing future quests as it spoils the pack and its better to stay focused anyway and not look ahead. the quest book will explain things as they become relevent such as ores. if you havent unlocked it yet you shouldnt be focused on mining yet. same is true for everything else the quest is well written and really does guide you all the way. again it is very important to not rush progression and make sure you are organized and have production of foods and other crops etc and stocking up on things you use alot like sand or gravel or clay. you will need alot of everything so think big and build big.
