Intova Sport Pro snorkeling off Green Turtle Cay, Bahamas

Great corals and lots of fish but somewhat cloudy water and lots of wind made shooting this video with the Intova Sport Pro a challenge.

Beautiful beach although there is an entrance fee to get in. Great snorkeling on both the north and south sides after you pass lots of rocky, dead coral. Saw an eagle ray first thing after entering the water.

Just a short video showing the best of what we found snorkeling from some of the northwest beaches of Curacao.
Snorkeling Curacao - Playa Largu & Marriott House Reef.mpeg

These are our two favorite snorkeling sites in Curacao. We were only able to snorkel the northwest sites while we were there as the weather was not cooperating for the sites further south. Playa Largu features several large stands of elkhorn coral while the Marriott had an incredible amount of brain coral. Both sites were very close to shore in fairly shallow water.
Shore snorkeling along Florida's SE Coast

Important Update!! August 1, 2013 Yesterday I went snorkeling at Peanut Island and found that the entire fish habitat along the rocks had been destroyed. The lifeguard said it was hard to see swimmers who went around the rocks during a strong tidal current so the park basically demolished the entire rock system which had started to grow live hard and soft corals and attract a large variety of f...
Bahamas Trip to Walker's Cay HD
Переглядів 2,4 тис.11 років тому
There is a wonderful series of reefs in front of Walker's Cay. Some rise up within several feet of the surface only to plunge 20-30 ft. down to white sand. On a calm day you can almost see the fish without even getting in the water. We have snorkeled all over the Caribbean and these reefs truly have the most amazing profusion of soft corals. Unfortunately, Walker's Cay Resort closed several yea...

Stayed at an amazing place, Aruba Bed and Beach, right across the lagoon from some amazing snorkeling. It is located about 1/2 block from Mangel Halto Beach Park in Aruba.

Snorkeling off Old Bahama Bay Resort, West End, Grand Bahama.
one of my favorite spots, I was just thinking last night to go there again soon
Nice! Lagun is a great spot. just posted a video with a lot of clips from there and cas abao. Cool to see that some of the elkhorn corals in your video have grown in the 8 years since your video!
Hey thanks for the Video! I am headed to Orlando for a week with the kids, rented a car and only wanna do Disney for 1 day... any great close amazing spots to snorkel / or worth the drive? I was thinking about Peanut Island...but it sounds pretty beat up now...??? Thanks again!!
Only place I really go anymore is Ocean Inlet Park in Boynton Beach. Best to walk down south of the inlet quite a ways - you can see the rock piles clearly in the water if it's a calm day. If you can't see the rocks because it's to rough or it's been raining a lot and the tide is running out of the inlet, it may not be clear enough to go. If you walk down to the last of the rock piles to the south past the condo buoys you can usually do a drift dive north as the gulf stream current will carry you back down towards the inlet. Best place for lots of fish and some bright soft corals. Beautiful park with free parking and showers. Blue Heron used to be good but is now overrun with divers, and big decline in sea life.
This reef is on my bucket list for sure!
Looks absolutely wonderful! Do you have any numbers so I can find these reefs?
The entire northeast side of Walkers is loaded with a system of large reef mounds in about 20-30 ft of water rising up to about 5-10 ft. It has been about 5 yrs. since we were there but it was really wonderful - very clear water, beautiful colors. Just be on the lookout for sharks as they are used to being fed by divers there. We had several follow us and we would just get in the dinghy and motor over to another area and continue snorkeling every time that happened. Also, watch the tidal pull as you get closer to the outer reefs.
Ah, the sharks are unnerving for sure LOL! Not sure when we will get over there, but in the next year or two for sure. I think this would be a great spot to hit en route to Abaco. We are power boaters, so no dinghy, but I could get one...what types of sharks are we talking? Reef, Nurse, and Lemon? Or Tiger and Bull? Also, no footage of them?
Mainly reef and lemon sharks. Definitely get a dinghy for snorkeling in the Bahamas! It's a great feeling of security to know you can hop into your dinghy and start the motor if the current gets too strong or you have too many sharks following you. Remember, in most of these areas you are on your own, sometimes no other boats or people around. We almost always towed a fully equipped small dinghy when snorkeling any distance from the boat.
Scary, have you ever gone diving in Andros? Walker's Cay is a hike from Key Largo.
No, have not been to Andros.
Great video. Thank you especially for the map locations. Planning a trip in May for SE FL down the Treasure Coast to the Keys.
Great video! I'm going to Curacao next month and really want to check out the elkhorn and brain coral that you shared. Such a nice variety of fishes as well. Can't wait!
Thanks for the video, will visit some of those places.
great video and some amazing footage
Tina, Where will you be on the gulf side?
Stunning pictures and amazing that you could see so much so close to shore! We are planning a Gulf side Florida trip for late December & were hoping to find shore snorkelling spot there. Would it not be difficult to find a day where the waves were calm enough for good visibility?
Go to St. Andrews park if your in Panama City if your close to it!
excellent information and beautiful video thanks so much
Nice job, thanks for sharing!
Thanks Michelle, what were the water temps like in March? We were there in November but we've heard there's a cool current that runs through the islands, March thru May.
Beautiful video, keep up the great work. c:
