Tesla FSD 12.5.4.1 - More Issues & Red Flags
Test driving on FSD 12.5.4.1. Overall it's safe, but the issues with 12.5.4 have carried over with more phantom braking, mapping, and lane switching concerns. I would not recommend using this build of FSD with the family in the vehicle.
Let me know your thoughts on the latest Tesla FSD build.

I have same version . I am experiencing same issues.
I’m getting tons of phantom branding on green lights unfortunately
An epic regression by Tesla after the robotaxi event.
I hate my job.
Be the change you want to change to to be changed
Thank you for your content. Something to consider: Tesla Full Self Driving-Unsupervised is a still-born effort unless Elon Musk can convince millions of families to trust Elon Musk and the onboard hardware and software. Here is the litmus test we should use to project adoption of FSD-Unsupervised. Would you place your teenage children and smaller children in the non-driver seats of your FSD-Unsupervised Tesla and send them to a movie theatre at night 10 miles from your home on a Friday or Saturday night? A responsible parent would now have to make a series of sober risk calculations. All of a sudden FSD-Unsupervised becomes a product that could irrevocably change your life if redundancy is subpar or the inventors claims of being x-numbers safer than an human cannot be relied upon. I believe most parents would not place their children in the FSD-Unsupervised vehicle with no competent driver at the wheel to take back control from the technology.
I appreciate your thoughtful comment Chris. 12.5.4.1 is not something I would feel comfortable with my family in without a driver. Previous iterations of V12 have hit the point where I thought it was safe enough to trust with family. I do believe we will get their though in the near future. At this time FSD is safe, but reliability, safety, and convenience are not yet fully flushed out as we all know.
@@RioPerez1 I think the public needs to stay extremely sober about Tesla FSD Unsupervised. As a parent with several children, we will know FSD Unsupervised is safe when he places his children in a Tesla FSD-Unsupervised vehicle and sends them on a complicated route to a destination (no prior tracking of the route, no manipulation of the experience a general customer would have). I want to give Mr. Musk all the praise he deserves but he has to demonstrate a level of sobriety commensurate with the level of accountability he has taken on. Have you seen anything formally announced that Tesla will take full responsibility/liability for FSD-Unsupervised if it is found an accident is due to the failure of the technology?
I have this issue too , in one particular local parkway it randomly decided to slow down. Hope Tesla will fix it soon. It happened on fairfax springfield parkway @ springfield, VA couple of times.
hoping 12.5.6 fixes the issue or at least V13
That’s really odd that it decided to park across the highway from the destination.
my v12.5.4.1 just pulled the phantom braking on me twice in my 23 MS. I was shocked, because I haven't experienced that in a long time and it freaked me out. Thankfully, no cars behind me. Made no sense why it happened.
Yep, disappointed to see the minor regression!
Mine has consistently gotten worse when it comes to the speed setting. Something is not right- didn’t do it before. If the speed limit is 75 and I set for 85, it’s going 68. Very frustrating
yeah, it's a bizarre problem.
I have the same issue
I need to manually accelerate to desired speed, it will then hold that speed
VERYYY GOOD
Nice. It will be awesome when banish is here and it drops you off and picks you up at the door.
Banish? No way.
I've seen a Honda in Japan do that. I think it was the Legend. Driver and passenger got off at the mall parking lot entrance and they came back and the vehicle pick them up. This was year ago. For some reason Honda has been ahead of Tesla but only in Japan
I like how u parked away from everyone else 😂
No more touching the steering wheel feels better.
Night and day tbh
As someone who got a solar array installed several years back that was as big as possible with the SRECs and the credits, it wasn't enough to cover 100%. Still definitely worth it, but now they won't give me any credit to buy additional panels. Just make sure they spec you out for at least 110% of your annual usage. If you plan on getting a 2nd or 3rd EV, it might be worthy to aim for 120%.
Appreciate the insight, I think you've got it right
Can you wear sunglasses?
Yes, but then the car will require a physical nag on the steering wheel. Way better experience without the shades.
Driving on empty road and saying it works?
theres plenty of videos with it in heavy traffic
Point taken, appreciate the feedback.
Watching from Dubai
Awesome, what's the autonomous vehicle scene like out there?

Take it off the automatic offset if you want the fsd to act correctly, as far as speed limits Oh yeah put the profile on chill. You get the best results
I went off chill to the standard mode recently, testing them all out but chill is definitely my default.
Take it off the automatic offset if you want the fsd to act correctly, as far as speed limits
I'll try that, thanks!
Car is not just an object for many people. It is a status item. It can be seen as reflecting your worldview even. Imagine a Harley biker. He would not want to drive a Yamaha. It is a lifestyle thing.
That's a great point
FSD v12.5.1.3 has been released at least five (5) days ago.
Yeah, just uploaded video with the latest build
People hate Tesla because of the media. They’re a bunch of liars and give out a bunch of misinformation. That’s why I don’t watch that crap.

Why is it driving on the left side of the road? King of the road?
I’m gonna put it up on UA-cam!

Another Model 3 owner in the UK here. I purchased FSD with the car back in 2019 and still patiently waiting... hoping for early next year to get a chance to test it! Great to see how far it's come with 12.5, although I do think these no intervention videos might start getting boring! Keep up the good work. Btw, long term stock holder since early 2018 so I'm lucky enough not to be worried about the short term dip, and am continuing to buy!
Wow, hope you get your monies worth with the FSD purchase.
You have waited 5 years?!
@@bocajuniors55 Yes, but in Europe last week we got a new update that adds automatic traffic light traversal on green... so now we can drive through multiple traffic lights without having to confirm with the stalk, only having to hold the wheel every 15-20 seconds for the nag 😆 It's actually a big improvement, so I'm not complaining...
If vission works for humans then visions will work for the @Tesla products
Just did my first drive on 12.5 did mostly perfect only time I disengaged was when it got on the highway then changed lane out of the slow lane. It changed into a blind spot of a big rig and just sat there.
Yikes, little things like that still need improvement.
would have been epic if you had that lady on video
yeah, I may start recording all my fsd drives just incase I hit gold again.
Put a sticker saying "Elon loves Trump" in the front and back, you can save some dirty looks and abuses!
Does 12.5 address school zones? Thats a big issue for me as I am surrounded by them and they are photo enforced.
Great question, I will test.
Anyone here with FSD please put stats on the FSD community tracker. It is really helpful to see aggregate results as FSD gets better. As far as I know you can even make it report automatically.
Definitely need to jump on that
4:10 Sadly no FSD here in Germany yet, but hey Elon said FSD maybe toward the end of the year in Europe, so maybe as a first release they might do a free month over here which would be awesome
Don't hold your breathe, but when Europe receives FSD it's going to be on point.
Thanks for the video. I just moved to southeast Houston in February. Been following Tesla since it came out. Could you talk about it's successes and your opinion on how fast it is improving? Considering the potential of exponential growth involved in AI and such technology. It could improve very quickly. I am almost certain that Tesla will solve it and become the biggest company on earth in the next 5-10 years. This is mainly because I study the Bible and it basically foretells it almost perfectly. Anyway, God bless you and hope you read the Bible. All things are held together by the word of His power (The Holy Bible). Jesus Christ is the only way to God.
People still think Tesla is just a car company...smh
Why did it cut to the next lane at that very first right hand turn? My car does that sometimes too and I think it’s dangerous
Yes, definitely a concern
Yellow Light, Yellow Light, Yellow Light.. (Hands prepared to stop).. then long relief sigh ...phew...
Yep this looks like late deceleration is still an issue as it has been on every FSD build the past couple years. Glad that people claim this build is more smooth overall, really hoping the hard deceleration for most stops especially when driving faster than ~40mph gets fixed asap.
@@maxsteele1 Last night while testing a few scenarios, it worked out great. This morning though it was dark, it had a couple issues with Signaling . Was really weird. At a stop sigh going straight, and it signaled as if it was going left. and another signaling issue, when taking a highway exit, it signaled left, then signaled right then took the exit. Not sure what was going on there
Was in Texas all last week, only rained once. Wish it had rained more. Was so hot in San Antonio where I was.
Got 12.5 last night, only had one issue, otherwise very smooth ride
what was the one issue?
@@RioPerez1 Was kinda complicated, and i get why it was confused. We came up to a red light that had two left turn lanes, one go straight lane, and one turn right lane. I wanted to go straight, but tesla stopped in the 'right' left turn lane. I would have let it go, but another car came up besides us to go straight, so i disengaged, waited, then reengaged when it was safe to continue going straight.
The reason why i say i understand why it was confused, because if it had gone straight from where it was, it would have been on track, on the other side of the light, which had two lanes going straight. but the right lane there was for a different flow of traffic. so confusing for it, and im sure for other humans that were unfamiliar with that intersection
Picking up the 2024 model 3 AWD today, I’ll subscribe to fsd to try it out
you can try it out 99 bucks a month instead of paying the 8k to try it out. I would suggest that before buying the whole thing to see if you like it. Especially if you only are going to have the car for a few years before trading in, and upgrading.
@@MrFrmartin yea that’s exactly what I am doing , actually might have a month of it free will ask today

@@winnerdanny7 Sweet, thanks
This clip ua-cam.com/video/l87gU_pGP5U/v-deo.htmlsi=3RtzSZcxm8V1pqmW is my first drive in the dark with FSD v12.5 (version number visible on the display) installed in my 2024 MYP. Here's an 8-ish minute drive in stormy weather ua-cam.com/video/jCT8NVfyOQA/v-deo.htmlsi=LAs7bk9AMZEfJeCm shortly after installing FSD v12.5 in my 2024 MYP yesterday -- Oh you will see lightning and flashing red light along the way; I think my MYP did reasonably well with v12.5 all things considered.
And what extra sensor, what type would give more correct information? I don't think lidar works in the rain, because the light gets scattered. Radar can see through rain, but does it give enough data? Radar can't see details nor for example the colors of the stoplight. More cameras is probably best, with mini wipers.
I think that vision only is possible, but I would say that the best way for that to work is to have cameras with high frames per second. I'm not sure what their capability is now, but a high fps is important for those very rare split second decisions that can prevent a serious accident. But also, people need to realize that when the fully autonomous robotaxi does get on the roads, at least some accidents will happen. That is absolutely impossible to avoid, even if you had the most perfect system in the world. If someone darts in front of you in a small space while you're going 60 mph, the car just can't physically stop in time in certain cases. But some people honestly think that autonomous cars aren't acceptable unless they can achieve 0 accidents and that's ridiculous.
@@brock8752 Zero no, but as safe as possible please. I am almost completely paralyzed by a car crash. With 12.5 this crash would not have happened. A higher framerate, yes but when the camera doesn't see because of rain or snow or bugs.. that was the topic and I guess solutions are: more cameras and all cameras need to be able to clean themselves somehow. Also stereo cameras, why is that not used? 2 "eyes" see more than 1 and the depth information seems potential very useful to me.
@@brock8752 I asked ChatGPT4o, got this answer "The frame rate (fps) of the front camera of a Tesla Model 3 with Hardware 3 (HW3) is typically 36 frames per second (fps). This information is based on the capabilities of the Autopilot and Full Self-Driving (FSD) hardware provided by Tesla." and "The highest frame rate camera on a Tesla Model 3 with Hardware 3 (HW3) is the forward-facing main camera, which can record at 60 frames per second (fps). This high frame rate is utilized to capture detailed video data, which is crucial for the vehicle's Autopilot and Full Self-Driving (FSD) capabilities." So 60 FPS.
@GiesbertNijhuis I agree with you. They need to be as safe as possible. What I was saying is just that other technologies have their drawbacks as well, and that many people do think that autonomous should never get into an accident, which isn't realistic. I don't know exactly how autonomous can be the best with vision, but it may need some of what you said. My point is that we need a company to eventually prove that an autonomous car is significantly less likely to get into an accident when compared to humans; once such a car comes about, we still have to accept that it will still get into accidents occasionally. As long as it is proven to be a lot better than humans on average even with a vision only approach, then it should be allowed. I think we all want the overall goal: car accident numbers decreasing each year once we have autonomous cars.
@GiesbertNijhuis Also, when I brought up the topic of people wanting no accidents, I wasn't specifically saying that I'm response to your comment. I agree with your comment, and that was just something I hear a lot. The expectation that an autonomous car should be absolutely perfect, I mean.
Once FSD will become "Unsupervised", it will be eventually classified as a SAE Level 4 of automation. Just as a reminder, beyond Level 3, the responsibility in case of an accident is given to the car/car company, and it won't be the driver's fault. But between a Level 4 (potentially FSD with vision only, at the CURRENT STATE OF TECHNOLOGY) and a Level 5, the difference is exactly the environmental conditions in which it operates, with Level 4 being limited in critical weather scenarios, but completely autonomous in the other cases. I think the gap between L4 and L5 will be filled by Tesla with HW5, but vehicles equipped with HW3 and HW4 are going to be reasonably able to perform Level 4 autonomous drives.
At least the autowipers finally seem to work. Slow down when waiting on a red light, accelerate when resuming to drive. On previous versions it was quite the opposite…
yeah, the arutowipers finally seem locked in
Initially, there will be limitations depending on the weather. On days with heavy rain or snow, FSD might not be allowed to operate. However, as FSD technology advances, it will likely be able to function even during significant rain or snow.
Agree 100%! A moment earlier I added my comment to this video; please feel free to check out the video clips in my entry to see how well my 2024 MYP operated under FSD v12.5 both in the dark (first clip) and stormy conditions (second clip) -- btw as per Elon, FSD v12.5's initial rollout is currently focused on Model Y units equipped with HW4.
yeah, I agree it's a work in progress
FSD has worked fine in rain for a while now. I think the last version that would not engage with rainy weather was released over a year ago (Early V11).
I agree with you, Rio. Elon is currently dedicating the company's resources to achieving 100% Full Self-Driving (FSD), and I believe they will soon complete the technology to the level of driverless taxis.
What a drama, the stock is down, add to it oh no there's a lot of risk. If you can't stand the volatility, don't buy the stock. It raining, this can be very dangerous😂, i have to hold on for dear life. Humans drive during heavy rain storms, they do at lower speeds and are more cautious.
lol, well I have to talk about something
When FSD final version works out, it will have big impacts on Tesla stock with crazy valuations. The shared property model will be the future. Your car parked out front may leave middle of night picking up an unknown person at airport and comes back two hours later. You don’t even know this event but it earns some taxi money for you.
I cross my fingers for that!!
It's a great vision
_When FSD final version works out, it will have big impacts on Tesla stock_ The ways things are going over the last 6 months, FSD will never reach Level 5 Full Autonomy. Every time a new version of the software is released, it continues to makes mistakes every day on a challenging route. 100 percent human supervision is required.
Hello! I’m a Tesla FSD owner in souther California. Orange County to be exact. My FSD is pretty hard to test and I miss a lot of my connections to different freeways and off-ramps cuz it just waits too long to get over and ends up missing the ramp. So when I have the time and the power, I’ll let it do its thing. I have also been hearing the buzz around 12.5 but I don’t exactly is new or different. Great video!
