SI #22 This is Mack Chami | God is War (AUDIO ONLY)

This is a very special AUDIO ONLY version of our show. This week's guest is the mind-blowing artist, Mack Chami. Mack Chami. If you're like me, you like most styles of music, if not all. You love when people take huge chances or live their life through their music. You love the drama and chance of it all. You love how it hits you. How music makes you sentimental or angry. How it curves the eart...

My guest this week is Benjamin Pitts, vocalist and guitarist for the powerful and mesmerizing melodic death metal band, Nightwraith. The band has a new record coming out tomorrow and Ben was able to slide in to the calendar and join me today. For that, I'm super grateful. Listen to the show and learn about this fantastic, humble human, who happens to be a total nerd who loves heavy brutal music...

My guest today is Connor Blackwood, the front man for Alchemize. This band does things really well and, as you know, music like this is the reason I do the show to begin with. People need to hear when bands tie genres together, because great things happen. The rest is the discovery process. That's what we're doing today. Discovering Connor and his awesome band, Alchemize. So... let's get to it....

Ahhh.... Dory Loup of the fantastic French punk band, Mirabelle. Oh my goodness, do I love this band.... They bring the best parts of the late 90s and early 2000s to the forefront. Their latest releases floored me, especially a song that I believe will break them fully around the world... the singular hit "All My Friends." What a bliss filled, and absolutely fun ditty. But enough about the band...

Axamenta. The band is back after a long winter's nap. Axamenta formed in 1993.... that's 31 years, people. I can't lie and say I've been a fan since then because I didn't know an ounce about them until recently when their PR company sent me a copy of their 23 minute EP. Insta Fan! Thank you for this interview! It was very deep and personal! You asked just the right questions. This is perhaps the best job ever done with interviewing Air Supply (Graham Russell). Please do one with Russell - we really need to know his deep down personality (perhaps then we can learn what really he is like and how he clicks with Graham like he does. I feel for Russell, nobody's ever gone deep and personal with him.

      That's super kind. Thank you! I loved my time with Graham. His management actually called me right after, saying how happy they were with this. I too would love to have Russell. Perhaps I can sway their team, but I still have to wait until his health is better. My call at the moment would be taken wrong. I will look into it, though. Thanks so much and hope you enjoy the rest of the channel. It's not adult contemporary music (mostly metal, actually), but I love music in all forms, and bands like Air Supply formed me, as you well know. I hope that's enough.

    I used to consider myself “a philosopher”, then I realized how scary big questions really were 😂 I went through a period of brutal, paralyzing anxiety for a while. Once the storm had cleared, I felt like I was “seeing color for the first time.” It’s still there though. It rears its head at night. I rarely sleep well. I’ve been DOING well. I’ve got a real job. I’ve got a car. I’m doing well. Im functional. I just kind of exist though. I feel like I only ever live in the moment. On the one hand, I feel like that’s the best way to live: in this moment. That being said, I feel empty. As soon as the fun is over, the emptiness creeps in, and I become afraid. Not sure what to do about it. I’ve just done my best to carry on. I’m not miserable actively, but “my demons” are strong.

I think it's amazing that you posted this, and I hope my little show gives you some respite. I would invite you to continue to dig deeper into yourself and listen to others as they navigate this odd odd world. But it is absolutely unhinged to say that Rammstein is the biggest band in the world

      They are at the moment.

    • @elmfuzzy1
      @elmfuzzy1 4 місяці тому

      @@thisissentimentalillness Rammstein is certainly one of the most popular and influential bands in the world, particularly within the genre of industrial metal. However, labeling them as "the biggest band in the world" can be subjective and depends on various metrics such as album sales, concert attendance, global influence, and cultural impact. Here are some factors to consider: Popularity and Influence Global Reach: Rammstein has a significant international following, with fans all over Europe, North and South America, Asia, and other regions. Their unique blend of industrial metal with theatrical stage performances has garnered them a dedicated fanbase. Concerts and Tours: Their live shows are renowned for their pyrotechnics, elaborate stage setups, and intense performances. They consistently sell out large venues and stadiums worldwide, demonstrating their strong drawing power. Album Sales and Streams: Rammstein has sold millions of albums globally. Their music, sung predominantly in German, has crossed language barriers and resonated with a wide audience. Cultural Impact Innovation and Style: Rammstein has a distinctive style that combines heavy, aggressive music with provocative and often controversial lyrics and visuals. Their artistic approach has influenced many bands and has left a lasting impact on the metal and rock scenes. Recognition and Awards: They have received numerous awards and accolades over the years, further cementing their status in the music industry. Comparisons to Other Bands Mainstream Appeal: While Rammstein is immensely popular, bands like U2, Coldplay, or the Rolling Stones might have broader mainstream recognition and appeal. These bands have also maintained long careers with consistent global success. Genre Specific: Within the industrial metal and rock genres, Rammstein is arguably at the top. However, comparing them to bands from other genres can be challenging due to differing fanbases and musical styles. Conclusion While Rammstein is undoubtedly one of the most successful and impactful bands in the world, especially within their genre, calling them the "biggest band in the world" depends on the criteria used. They might not have the universal mainstream appeal of some other legendary bands, but in terms of influence, fan dedication, and live performance, they are certainly among the top-tier global acts.

    Second thought. I like the premise of this interview too. I don't get to hear about the FEELING of music anymore. It's all gear, technique and remember tours. I love the quote, Music is not to hear. It's to feel.
