MW3 is underrated. But for me, it hit the spot as a mech sim. MW4, 5 and Online made it close to FPS imo.

I used to play this game everyday after school at the local CompUSA (in the 90s), they had a computer set up that could be played on.

How'd you get this to work on a modern system? Had trouble the last time I tried with a modern graphics card.

What did you do to get it to play on your setup? Emulation?

3 is hands down my favorite in the Mechwarrior lineup. You're doing good so far. Everybody plays different build-wise so I'm not going to go on about that, we'll be here a while. Though I will say it seems you like to be closer to your target - which is fine - I would try to get my hands on an LBX autocannon to swap out that AC10, they're basically the 'shotgun' of the universe. The bushwhacker isn't the worst starter but I do remember having some trouble myself with heat in the early game [and that darn comms dish in the first mission, that took me back] though MGs aren't great, heavier vehicles such as tanks can take a beating from them and it doesn't really dish you out a lot of ammo or the best heatsink load. Take it a little slower, enemies will come to you when you enter their detection radius; Your mech can crouch, which can help protect your legs and tuck out of the way of incoming fire, and don't forget to order your trucks around [the 3 blue dots that start with you on every mission] They won't do anything until you clear out and order them to their respective waypoints. I don't remember the commands, but in your button config there should be something regarding them. You won't really have any friendly support for a good minute in the early [and the same goes for pirate's moon.] They can't replace lost components, but they CAN repair damage and re-stock ammunition in non-destroyed weapons. However, they can be destroyed, and the enemy likes doing that. Make sure there aren't any hostiles in the area of the waypoints and don't kite stuff toward them. As long as at least one is intact you're fine. Beyond that, just remember the lighter and faster the mech, the more important it is that you keep moving. Aim for the legs on enemy mechs. Not only does this get you that mech but all of its weapons and such become loot for you to build on. This is especially important for more rare mechs and mechs you want for your teammates.

Dam despite being a beginner your actually handling yourself well, Noice, some tips from a 2 year old player -Build your base efficiently for LMD and EXP, either go for 3 /3/3 (3 Trading posts, 3 factories, 3 Powerplants) and factories focus on gold for Maximum LMD (Usually 20-40k depending on what ops you put) 2/4/3(2 Tps, 4 Facts, 3 powerplants) and set 2 of the factories for XP and the other Gold for both LMD and EXP, the 2 Gold facts are enough to pay off the XP factories and make around 10k LMD with it, This is what I recommend for a long term set up once you have enough Ops built for a variety of tactics. -Recommended Ops 4 Stars Vanguards Myrtle, there's a reason why she's the most used vanguard in the game, since her DP printing is just that good even tho she just a flag bearer, AND she has a passive that heals all vanguards in the map when she's deployed and has a 2nd skill for healing (Mostly used in Integrated Strats and challenge content) Courier, has more def than normal for a vanguard, allowing him to become a blocker provided that the expected enemy coming to him doesn't have too much ATK. (and can be considered an upgrade from Fang) Defenders Coura, she can be your main Blocker, since her talent and 2nd skill gives her very high defense stats and heal per second on the skill. Gummy, heals ops around her and herself ,with a very low chance to stun enemies Snipers Meteor, both her skills have a defense debuff to enemies, Shirayuki 2nd skills can deal 50% of the dmge as Arts Guards Cutter, a swordmaster that can deal nuke physical damage (and hit air targets) provided she has a constant stream of enemies that she can charge her skills out of Medics Gaviel, for general ST healing, Perfumer, global heal Sussuro when you need that big healing buff Casters Haze, Reduces Enemy RES upto 23% (Elite 2 and full potentials) Gitano, 2nd skills can turn range into Sniper range Specialists Ethan, AOE Arts damage and Bind enemies Gravel, Defense oriented Executor who has the skill set to block enemies with her 2nd skill shield (Just need to E1 Level 70 and can just leave her alone at that) Rope and Shaw for Pushing and pulling enemies into holes or in range of other ops 5 stars Amiya build her, 2nd skill for general dps, 3rd skill for True damage (True Damage ignores RES and Def) General Tips -Look at enemies' Stats and build your team around that, if enemies have High Res but low def get some Phy DPS etc. -when expecting heavy hitting ranged enemies, always deploy your Low Hp, DPS, healer Ops first, Then deploy guards, defenders, etc. so that they are the last to be targeted. -When you are struggling on a stage find a video guide on it BUT don't just copy it, Use it as reference and Build your own strategy from it, since copying too much will eventually make the game boring, its a strategy game after all, use your head and if the strats works, its satisfying. -When doing Annihilation Ops for weekly orondum, Watch a video of that Annihlation stage first and see if you have the right ops for that stage. and that about it, GL new Doc -Doc Artz
