One of the nastiest Kihon Techniques you can do is Hon Gyaku. When it's done on the ground it's 10 times worse. Check out our class where we explored this with our students!!!

Discovery Travels: Rob Renner Seminar
I drove to Kenosha WI for GM Hoban's seminar twice. Really good material. I am an Eskrima-Kali-Arnis instructor, & Jack was very welcoming to non-Bujuinkan students.
I came for the class notes but I stayed for the AI.
First Like! 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Your wife is hot! lol
I know it is a year late to the party here, but I am so glad to have found this interview. I first was introduced to John back in the mid 90's at Discovery Martial Arts in Presque Isle, ME. As soon as that first class started, I knew that this was the place and art I had been looking for. He paired me up with a "little, geeky guy" who whipped my butt for 2hours straight... That was Hanna Patterson and just a great guy who was also super friendly. Glad to see John still active and I now envy all of you who get the train and learn from him. I often think about that little group and miss every single one of them... Except maybe Brett Varnum who seemed to relish making me tap out 10000 times a class LOL... all joking aside, John and Brett taught me a lot both about the art as well as life in general.
I NEED to plan for next years
Nice, effective.
Wow, complex.
Ninjitsu : Hon Gyaku Aikido: Nikyo yes, this technique can be very dangerous, and it hurts like all heck, when put on for real.
Mir did this to Tim Silvia I think. I know this works.
it was against Pete Williams
I trained in bujinkan for years.. then left because the instructor became self obsessed after leaving Hatsumi.. and yet he's nothing compared to this prick..WTF is that outfit all about.. these people play at being killers... all they've done is make the system a cult... it's a joke now...they hand out dan grades like sweets... most of these 'black belts' couldn't kick snow off a rope.. all flowery bullshit and theoretical... they wouldn't last pissing time on the pavement
The top purple belt in the school
Wearing that gold vest is crazy work but I did buy his books as a teenager and spent 10 years in the bujinkan
I'm kloy biswas 🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩
You look absolutely ridiculous
Best video you guys have put out so far!
I bought all of his books in the 80's with my school lunch money... You're welcome.
Same
Looks like a fun trip with lots of good training. Thanks for recording and sharing!
The Ai of Aikido looks wicked simple, and preventing recovery is classic Aikido. Using the borderline suicidal action, is basically what Aikido is about, it is not about the calm, precise, and patient attacker. So Aikido fails when assumptions about the attacker fail.
Very interesting
Nice
People do naked rear choke in standing position, from a circling. Then proclaim it was only having fun. An answer that is better than shooting through the crotch, with arm extension to rise below the arm. All done with intent to force the choke to spread across the back. An answer better than in a standing clinch striking might exist, could you show that possible answer.
U should show close up so we can learn we don't see what you re talking about
That belt promotion at the end was nice.
doesnt apepar to take anyone very long to get black
Bullshido
Why don’t you go and get free class?
@@jaimcgee4566 why would I get a free class in bullshido do I look dumb
😂😂😂 bullshito at its finest! “Ummmm” lol has no idea what hes teaching
Bullshido? This exact technique exists on almost every martial art ever.
What's causing the takedown.......the part where he trips him
We were just working on that guard knee break in all levels for our ground flow…this looks like something we have to add in

Great job on the interview, Zach. Really enjoyed this discussion.
This shit look fake asf
Detroit urban survival vibes
Bullshido alert😂
Love this guy. He is very cohesive and cognitive in his thoughts. I really enjoyed his lessons at the last seminar in Portland.
Couldn't agree more!
Really like this. It goes towards self defense as opposed to the sport aspect. Finder breaks, hon Gayaku, wrist locks all push towards the surfing an encounter and just submissions. Good stuff.
Oni kudaki the demon crush
LOL....you caught it
Thank you for the insight into your training
Glad you liked the video Ralph! Appreciate the kind comment. Out of curiosity, would you personally find it helpful if we had more groundfighting-oriented instructionals and tips on the channel? Cheers 🍻
Where's Shidoshi Mark Davis?
@@wtfschindler Are you sure? His FB page was updated today!!
Looks like an amazing time. Looking forward to seeing all of you in the fall!
Congratulations! 🎉
Haha loved the blooper reel!
Smooth! Awesome job!
A blooper reel? Unexpected bonus.
why she wearing a belt with no gi? just looks like a bunch of friends given belts after a couple of weeks lol
It gets very hot in the dojo in the summer so I relax the gi policy for comfort
🎉That was fun!🎉
They you use the elbows against kicks we call those destruction in kali and Silat the low knee strike to the thigh we use that in panatukan and panaJacman we rely heavily on destroying the weapon when destroy the weapon you destroy the attack
@@rodneywilson8672 You are correct, it sucks to receive! Also we use our heels in the same manner, place them out there for the tender leg to run into woth round kicks
So happy you are our teacher and so many of us share so much, it's a great place
Thank you so much for these, Mr White. Very informative, well explained, and relatively easy for a person with a spinal cord injury/severe mobility problems, such as myself to practise. I can actually use my opponent to give me stability and balance before I remove theirs, and remove the threat, with minimal movement. Just have to find a couple of willing friends to practise/test the Waza on 😄😄😂😂🦵💪👊 Love the quote 'there's gonna be some physics shit that goes on in there'. 🤣🤣 Very 'Mr Poliquin'. ❤😎
@@kotohinemura Thank you very much for taking the time to write this. It warms my heart to know that these can help anyone in anyway. Thank you again and see you on the mat!
Hi I enjoy watching your videos and I have a question do they practice witchcraft in ninjitsu because there was one ninjutsu master on UA-cam named Christa Jacobson and found out she practices witchcraft as a ninjutsu master, and I am a devout Christian and don't want to practice witchcraft and was wondering if all styles or some style of ninjutsu or ninjitsu practice witchcraft? I don't want to sound stupid and don't want to get the wrong idea about ninjitsu. I want to learn how to fight and defend myself and don't want to engage in practicing the occult
No witchcraft over here!!!
Although I no longer practice any Takamatsu den ninjutsu, ninjutsu has no occult elements. That person you mentioned does this as a personal hobby, its not part of ninjutsu(or budo taijutsu) in anyway.(I practiced Bujinkan for 12 years)
The question was about Ninjutsu and it's connection with spirituality / ritual that may seem heretical to a Christian? Ok, There are aspects of Shinto that cannot be detached from any traditional Japanese Kobudo, including Ninjutsu. However, with the modern spinoffs of Ninjutsu, there are certainly opportunists who love to wear the role-play costume of magical beings who use sorcery and spell casting, that's all make believe and not rooted in any historical fact ... but was sorcery a thing? Yeah, there was very specific alchemy and shamanistic practices (ie. miyako), but it became popularized among the ninja stories in the early 1900s. Indeed Shinto is polytheistic and animistic in which it is believed that supernatural deities are within all natural things ... it's really too much to explain in a UA-cam chat, however thinking you can deeply understand Kobudo without this link is impossible. At some point you will be exposed to this, and as a devout Catholic I can assure you that there is no risk of sin, so long as YOU don't carry that forward into your life and are vigilant and diciplined in your own faith. It is extremely reasonable to study traditional Kobudo, sit alongside a Mikkyo fire ceremony, visit important shrines in our history, sit in seiza and offer rei-ho to a teacher ... Yes, there were Christian samurai, and there are still old Dojo in Japan that have a veneration of the cross instead of a kamidana ... it's a thing, but don't get yourself wrapped around the axle of fear; simply remain steadfast in your own action and prayer. Energetically (again, too long for here), it's what you chose to do with yourself and your actions that matter. It's every bit as easy to live in sin within your church (actually, much easier!) as it is within a Ninpo Dojo, because that's where YOU are. Good luck on you path.
this doesn't work in the real world
Real nice. Rob is a great teacher.
Glad that you got me in there at the end! I'm so happy that you guys could make it out, it's always wonderful to train with you!
What’s a “nindan”?
A misspelling LOL. Nidan
