Giacomo Turco | Cycling Beyond
Приєднався 2 бер 2021
Sharing stories, setbacks and emotions along my solo bikepacking adventures. I would happy to inspire other people to do the same or just to go the extra mile in life.
I am Giacomo, a 27-years-old aerospace engineer from Italy. I am not an athlete, nor a photographer. I am just a sensitive solo cyclonaut and enthusiast explorer, curious about discovering different cultures and keen on travelling into wild nature.
In January 2024 I started solo bikepacking from Patagonia to Alaska.
In 2021, before starting to work, I went solo bikepacking through the wildest parts of Iceland for 50 days. In 2022 I spent 3 months in Nepal. In these months I had been trekking and cycling through very remote areas which often remain untouched by tourists. In 2023 I went solo bikepacking the wild and vast Mongolian Steppe for 25 days.
Jump on the back of my bike and join me for the next adventures Beyond this Planet.
You will not be disappointed, hopefully :)

I was really happy to spend time with my parents, to see new places and have a quieter life
Back in Bariloche I felt a strong urge and desire to start again, to get back into the adventure.
But getting the bike ready and putting all the things together for departure was hard. And also to leave Nicanor and Alejandra's family that I had grown attached to.
When I left again after about ten kilometers, I felt helpless, scared, sad and nostalgic
I didn't know where to find every item in the bags anymore, and with each climb I was struggling much more than I had ever remembered
I wanted comfort, someone to joke with, and a warm place to stay.
And instead what I had in front of me was adventure, cold, uncertainty, and all kinds of difficulties
Did I get weakling? should my journey stop here?
I try not to think about it and move on.

Ode to Bikepacking and Fragility of Life

I have not seen a single person, car or any sign of human life since I left for this 4-day traverse of the Andes. I think, what if something happens to me? What if the bike breaks and I can't continue? I have the satellite GPS to call for help, but that would really be a last All of a sudden I feel overcome with fear. I have faced situations like this before in Mongolia, but I knew that within ...

Activate the SUBTITLES to follow in ENGLISH or ITALIAN INTRO Solo crossing the remote and infamous Paso Roballos from Argentina to Chile has been a very intense and transformative experience. Activate the SUBTITLES to follow in ENGLISH or ITALIAN INTRO This crazy adventure started here, in Ushuaia. these first 10 days have been already beyond any expectation I could have on this journey. Solo Cycling Mongolia | Unsupported Bikepacking Adventure

Activate the SUBTITLES to follow in ENGLISH INTRO In July 2023 I set off for a 25-days solo bikepacking adventure into the vast and wild Mongolian steppe. Mongolia is a place that, to me, has always been a land of adventure. 3 Months Exploring Nepal

I tried to capture the emotions of 3 months spent in 2022 living in Kathmandu and exploring around. Trekking solo for 20 days up to 5800 m altitude around the Everest region, completing a trail running marathon around the Phewa Lake, paragliding in front of the Annapurna massif, doing a workshop about satellites in the British School in Kathmandu, talking and eating with local people are only s...

SOLO TUTTO - Wild Solo Bikepacking Sardinia
Переглядів 4752 роки тому
In October 2021 I decided to undertake a second 10-days solo bikepacking trip, this time in a very different environment with respect to Iceland. Sardinia is a stunning island, where is still possible to find unspoiled nature and real adventures. It is incredible how you can interact with locals in the everyday life and how much you can exchange with them. Again, solitude is bliss.

Nice film, but i wanna know how many days did you bike in MONGOLIA? Wanted to see more but the video is so short...
Thank you so much for the very kind words. I biked for 25 days, but in many moments I was very focused on surviving/living the experience myself. I had more material, but this is the best video I could do without getting it boring. But thank you so much, I will try to do more content like this 🙏
To be honest now I am cycling though Patagonia but still thinking so much about Mongolia. Really looking forward to come back 🤩

can you tell me somw tip for cycling in mongolia. I'm planing to cycle with my friends but not really with long distance experienced what's the most important thing to keep in mind?
There are many: filtering water, satellite tracking, bringing all possible spare parts, multi- fuel stove etc. if it’s one of your first trips do do it too remote
Nice video brother. Keep it up
Thank youuu 🙏🤩
Simply gorgeous cinematography my friend!
Thank you so muchh, I do my best 🙏
