Many great PS studios are in limbo right now because in part, Sony put them in that position… layoffs are coming because again, Sony is also to blame for the bullshit that is GAAS that most PS gamers did not ask for and did not want. Single player games with multiplayer is another thing aside.

i wonder how sony would have been today if Shu had been in charge of 1st party studios, i also would have like to see Sony offer Amy Henning her own studio. Days done is a fantastic game and while i dont know what i cost but 8 million sales is usually a success for multiplat titles. Also i can not stand this one game per generation from any studio, thats not a good trend at all.

It does make me laugh when you see Gaz and Colt talking about this all while gears, halo etc are on the way to playstation, neither companies are making good choices.

Sony/PlayStation have been really missing with their potential in live service games and having it be their own unique flavor. I'm very surprised no one points to how Bethesda was able to spin up two very successful live service games based off their franchises. They had some terribly bumpy roads (fallout 76) but Elder Scrolls Online, and Fallout 76 are very popular. Horizon seems to be maybe trying this, we'll see how it goes, it has the potential. Naughty Dog could have spun out a separate team/studio to focus on a live last of us game, with small team from proper ND to help with storied content and expansions. Or if all of that is too much or not what they necessarily want to do, going the route of Ubisoft's Division games with their design and format for content. Kinda combing the last of us single player and some of the aspects of the faction's mode, making the game a bit more expansive by making areas wider and more open, doesn't have to be fully open world.

BUT THIS IS GREAT FOR GAMERS!

Single player with the multiplayer component added why couldn’t Sony/PS just continue to do what they did during PS3 era. PS needs to stop making their moves based on the shareholders wants and needs for money. Also you so called PS gamers how about you buy the exclusives. The studios shouldn’t have to suffer any major changes or being shuttered due to bad mismanagement from Hermen and the rest of the higher ups.

Persona is spot on. Do more of the traditional multiplayer component that are attached on to the single players like what we got with Uncharted, Killzone, and Resistance back during PS3. Shoot, that's what Nintendo doing with their multiplayer. PlayStation 1st party studios are not built for this GAAS thing. It's a whole different beast. PlayStation should have seek out 3rd party relations for the live service by going out and finding studios that are well versed in it rather than have their own studios like Bluepoint get their hands in this mess.

there is a huge disconnect between gamers/consumers and activist media and some devs, this situation reminds me of politicians who are also out of touch with reality, The game awards is an echo chamber and a advertising revenue vehicle and little else these days, it is becoming like E3 as companies didnt want to pay ridiculas amounts of money to show their products off. When you see the voting panel for the awards its clear to see why they are so out of touch. A dlc being game of the year is a farse, elden ring won already and you cant play the DLC without owning the original game which to me means it cant be game of the year. It feels like a rigged event.

Elden Ring would have won if this rumors of Sony acquiring them. Winner will be Metaphor.
