    Why was the bone in number two broken? Did the tumor cause it or was there also an accident?

    • @xrayreview-drb
      @xrayreview-drb 14 днів тому

      Good question. Any pathologic bone lesion will cause weakening of the bone and may allow a normal force to cause a fracture, called a pathologic fracture. So normal stresses caused the weakened bone to fracture.

    Iv been thinking all my being bed ridden leg pain was due to major back issues.... But they finally diagnosed me with avascular necrosis months ago.......... Thank you so much for putting it in layman's terms because the doctor never could., I guess I'm just a visual learner. I finally was told to quit smoking 2 weeks ago, and have four more weeks of being bedridden before the surgeon 1st of 3 that said no will actually consider scheduling me for the first time in 8 months. I keep falling causing injuries, keep going to ER when I'm stuck incontinent in my own filth. Cuz I'm seriously bedridden.... The pain and struggle is real

    Hi, On the Dicom tag : (0018, 115E ) it stores the DAP value eg 1.149 with no units. It is known that DAP is expressed in Gy.cm2 but under dicom standards its given as dGy.cm2. I know they just differ by prefix and contextually they the same. How would I know what units my DAP value actually is ? My X ray was captured with a Siemens machine, and the image was complemented with a Dicom info. Since it follows Dicom standards can I assume it'll use dGy.cm2 as its units or could there be an exception to this ? Basically I'm asking if a system is following dicom protocols then they must have the the same units stipulated by Dicom standards or can they differ i.e instead of dGy.cm2, they present the value stored in this tag in Gy.cm2 ? Note: this is not a private tag. Thanks

    • @xrayreview-drb
      @xrayreview-drb 25 днів тому

      Hello Doc. If I am understanding you correctly, the images are being saved in dicom format however there are no measurement units associated with the DAP value?

    Could you please do a video discussing normal vs abnormal positioning of hyoid bone in relation to thyroid cartilage, ie 'thyrohyoid gap'. I see a decent thyrohyoid gap (couple of fingers) in all patients in this series. Can you please discuss the function of the thyrohyoid gap? Is this membrane-filled-gap essential for head nodding? (C2-C7 fixed, C1 moving only - not full C-spine flexion). It seems to me that if there were no thyrohyoid gap at front of the neck, nodding would be impossible. The hyoid could not move down and the nod movement would be structurally prevented. With full c-spine flexion ALL anterior neck structures move down, but NOT with the nod. Please could you refer me to any literature discussing these matters. It's scarce. Radiologists tend to focus on lesions and not structural derangement/deformity, but the scan is the only window in to visualise and establish if structural relations are within normal parameters. Would a radiologist normally comment if there was reduced or absent thyrohyoid gap or not consider it of any significance?

    • @xrayreview-drb
      @xrayreview-drb Місяць тому

      Hi Doc, that is a great question and not something that I have ever come across in the literature before in regards to plain film or digital radiography. It is not a measurement that radiologists would evaluate on x-ray without direct clinical reasoning. I would imagine that you would need cross-sectional advanced imaging such as MRI or CT to appropriate evaluate and measure that region. Hope that helps :)

    As a myelomeningocele, I have often wondered what it looks like on film. I am used to seeing film of other body parts, eg today I saw film of my knee, which has collapsed due to ?rupture of ligament(s) and due MRI next week. However, as for pictures of my spine, it remains a mystery, at least to me! Radiologists are unsung heroes to me and interpreting what is going on or tellibg the story of what has gone on in the past, perhaps without the patient's knowledge or awareness, is fascinating.to me. Thank you for all that you and your colleagues do to improve life. Blessings and peace from UK

    In 2005 during Hurricane Katrina I broke both my thumbs. My left thumb is broke at the base of my thumb, it still pops out to this day and hurts like hell when it does. I just pull my thumb out and shove it back in place. My right thumb is broke between the fist and base with the top of the bone resting next to the bottom. That thumb is very crooked and does hurt once in awhile but it is just an ache. I have a jersey injury on my middle finger right hand that just left a huge knot on both sides of my first joint. I also broke other bones. I am very clumsy and just very unlucky all my life. Broke my wrist hitting a tree stump mowing the yard, tore my labrum in my shoulder after my dog knocked me down a hill - slap tear. yeah that is just the upper part of my poor body. I am 60 years old now and trying to be more careful but yeah that isn't working. I just have very bad luck.

    Since May 2004 but a motorcycle accident in May 2015 finished the job. Here in Canada, the doctors are unable to correctly diagnose this so they prescribed opioids. Yes ! Opioids prescribed since May 2004. If you enjoy taking drugs, Canada is the place for you. Not only do Canadian doctors prescribe opioids but, the taxpayers pay for this. I hate drugs. I wish I could get a fusion and disc replacement but I live in Canada. Our doctors not able to figure this out. I am almost finished. Death by doctors. Their weapon of choice is opioids. For 20 years. You cannot make this up. I am speaking the truth. Tell our grandchildren the truth, please ? I have Spondylolisthesis at one level in my Lumbar section. About 90 minutes work for any reasonable surgeon but, here in Canada, they are unable to figure this out. To be honest, death will be nice. No more pain and suffering and, no more of these awful drugs. Canada does NOT have "universal healthcare". I am proof ! ! !
