This was a really good video! Any advice for a brand new Lego review channel?
The instructions make up half the price because printing paint is expensive
I see where you are coming from and I like your enthusiasm as a young builder. I miss those days... Anyways, A good study video. I gotta tell you though that for as cool as the new space ship is for $80 it's actually 10 to 20% more expensive then it should be. Not that many pieces and the ones included are big and combined in an elongated way to make the set seems large. Across the whole space line that is the truth. Lego has been testing prices to see what consumers will pay. And you know what? These original lines relative to super expensive IP themes "feel" like a bargain!
liked and sub, great video and makes very sense !!
IMO, LEGO should move away from IP sets and go back to their own themes. Where did you find the info about LEGO smoothing out the cost of IP sets across non-IP sets? Really interesting.
Nah I’m not saying they should move away from IPs I LOVE THEM but I think the massive price increases might not be Legos fault
Great video!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
man i agree with this guy so much like it would be so awesome to get that f1 truck but with really cool detailed cars
I got Jedi Bob for 20% off and that’s still overpriced 😂
Great point & video! Excited to see official pictures later on!🔥
You and me both!
Waiting to build this set till my replica stickers come in for the cockpits
Why replica out of curiosity are they better
<~ Downscale stock buyer
smaller may not be that bad since the last one was massive
I didn’t want to fork out the money for the old set so last year I built two of the old ones from parts I ordered on BrickLink. Only thing it lacks are all the stickers. Found some replica stickers for the Republic logos. Glad I did that because these small sets are ridiculous, yet LEGO increases the prices out of the butt. Even kids, their original target consumer, are being priced out. Better hope granny and their parents have bank.
This is such a LARGE set. (I’m an ant)
Lmao 😂
😂😂😂
Can’t wait to wait this long for an MTT just to get one that’s the size of my pinky toe.
Once again bang on the money Will ! I think this is a great set and honestly shame about the price but we will still get it as Lego already knows For some the slight down scale for this one may be perfect for storing it but like you said you should never put this vehicles side by side lol But love the review Will as always !!!
this is why you only have 118 subs ahhaha
8 more than yesterday I’ll take it
Waiting for a discount Fs. Great video bro!🔥
The wings sagging is not an issue. It's accuracy.
Interesting do they actually sag in universe
@@WillBricks They are angled slightly downwards
I like the ship and the figures are a top selling point. The fact that it's more solid helps and tbh, I wasn't gonna get this set and was only tempted by the figs for my 2010 version. As I got that in a mixed bin of lego, so no figs. But after watching this video, I realise that its actually alot better than I thought. I don't care about the size really, but would be interesting to match up the 2 versions and see if a bigger and more solid version could be made by modding them. I also get lost with the US prices. 70 seemed high, but it's actually £60 for us, so that will be £40 within the year and for that, it's worth it for parts and figs 100% if nothing else. 😉
It’s a decent set but no way am I paying $70 for a set that should be $40 MAX I’m waiting for someone to come out with a kit that fixes all the issues.
There’s to many to fix though 😢
Do you like the new arc-170 ?
No, I don’t respond to impersonators. Reported to UA-cam.
What you said at the end there with the McLaren car im very with you. We should look at it as an more collection of every speed champions F1 car so that its more worth it and if they are not gonna sell it anymore well then i guess its worth buying the McLaren and the other F1s that came last year and the year before that and then go over to the others after that
If they jack the prices again im done the sets get snaller yet we are paying more.
honestly it will be hard to make a great MTT that will even be as good as the 2007 one with how goated that set was with the build and the minifigs so im honestly ok with something that at least tries to do good as long as its not an obvious cash grab MTT
Great video! Excited to see official pictures! Just hope everything isn’t scaled down…🔥🤙
What do you think will happen with the new Lego MTT?
Thanks for your follow-up. After 2021 or 2022 I think Lego started to shift away from very pricey, large sets and pipelines that feed into them. Eg Star Wars and UCS. Now, you see the mid size Star Wars sets and I also see this seemingly over diversification of F1 across City, Speed Champions, Icons and Technic lines. But again, I think this is their goal. In this economy, parents sometimes simply cannot go to any option over $20. Having tons of more economical options would thus be a good thing. I remember when I was a kid, I was amongst those who couldn’t go “up the chain”. Dreaming of the big sets, but being grateful for the $12, 100 piece sets. And if they would have featured my favorite F1 team like Red Bull, McLaren or Ferrari, I’d have been very happy indeed. In fact, I still have my 80s City super small, 25 piece, minifig scale f1 car in Senna McLaren colors. I played *years* with that car, I still have it in my room.
I love this subject and would love to deep dive it some more. Come up with some ideas of how we couldve done it better and put it to the chat on a livestream. Great end of year topic.
@@cool-han-luke-bricks already in the works with a massive vid soon
Hey Will! I do think that you were harsh to the line. But that's ok... or is it? *Vsauce music starts playing *

You accidentally made the title fromula instead of formula
Good video! :) In my opinion the F1 deal is an easy money grab for LEGO, yeah sure, they have to design an F1 car, but they already had the McLaren, Aston and the Mercedes, so it's just minor changes. EASY MONEY! And Lego love easy money :)
Surprising amount of new moulds on the Speed champions: The rear wing piece, the front suspension and front wheel winglets, the wider rear tyres, even the new racing helmets. There may only be relatively minor changes between them all, but there are some really clever building techniques used to replicate real life details, like the triangular air intake on the top of the Ferrari using the classic car doors, or the diagonal sidepods on the VCARB. Yeah, the F1 deal itself has been done by Lego because F1 has become more popular in the last few years, (Although F1 fans have been begging Lego for this for this since I was a kid, which was decades ago) but I actually think the designers deserve a bit more credit here for faithfully trying to recreate the cars as accurately as they can given the scale.
I just don't care for sets that I should voer with stickers in order for them to look good. There is nothing that says "cheap" and "low-quality" more than Stickers. Lego would definitely have the resources to padprint every part in these sets without loosing too much profit. I'm sick and tired of stickers, and I'm not buying sets that cheap out on prints anymore.
True I’m gonna be giving my take on stickers soon because there a few sets out now without stickers and there expensive af but with the price increase of $27 yikes
No you wernt to harsh lego keeps on getting it wrong time and time again even though lego fans have pointed out what there doing wrong, the williams car that is coming out they finally got the rear tyres right after the backlash on the sienna car and yet ONCE AGAIN they failed on the 1/8 cars E.G the ferrari and the red bull car with having the same size tyres all round.I will say at least they got the sponser markings on the tyres finally but that colour of the red bull car is way to bright as well.I ended up buying the rastar Red bull car which does have the correct tyres so i dont get why lego cant OR WONT do the rear tyres correctly which is a shame!
I dunno how I missed that you have a second channel BTW, so will be catching up there.
@@cool-han-luke-bricks yessir 😂🫡 I haven’t been promoting it to much just wanted to see how it would go on natural growth
💯 agreed. I did think the box art was great, but nothing on the 20th silver and black. From what I could gather, what they tried to do with the figs is celebrate all the multiple offshoots of the main franchise through 25 years. Leia - TV shows Fives - Animated shows Saw - standalone movies Kal - gaming Malak - EU (Legends lore) QT-KT - charity (although they ballsed this one up! Maul - Original Wave Figs So it seemed like more of a celebration of Star wars than of Lego, whereas 20th was specifically celebrating them as a union. But if they had atleast come out and said that publicly, that they wanted to 'honour the wider universe of the franchise in Lego by giving us things we would otherwise never get.' Or something, that would be something. Really loved your opinions and ideas in this video though, the over use of that brick and total price of the wave was something I hadn't considered and is mind blowing. I think they need to leave the 1999 anniversary alone for a while now and start to credit the movie anniversary's individually, even if with just one set or be consistent and do none atall. Then mark anniversary of their own achievements as a company with Star Wars instead. Like 20th anniversary of the Battle Pack or 25 years of UCS with just maybe one great set.
Great video!
I understand that F1 is taking over but heres an idea I found from people said that mix F1 with other cars or F1 qs a separate theme. Cause I tierd of constant complain about there lazy and didn't do the proper research, the Speed Champions are different sorry for that being harsh but please understand where I'm coming from.
No f1 is super popular than space
I'm favoured financially with Bitcoin ETFs approval, Thank you buddy.$28,600 weekly profit regardless of how bad it gets on the economy.
Same here., I strongly agree that the Bitcoin ETFs approval will be greatly life opportunity for us, with my current portfolio of $102,500 from my investments with my personal financial advisor Steve Miley I totally agree with you😊
He's my family's personal Broker and also a personal Broker to many family's in the United states, he is licensed and a FINRA AGENT in the United States.
The very first time we tried, we invested $1000 and after a week, we received 4500. That really helped us a lot to pay up our bills.
Steve Miley has really set the standard for others to follow, we love him in Canada🇨🇦as he has been really helpful and changed lots of life's
This sounds so good and i would like to be a party to this, is there any way i can speak with him?
I'm just confused why they decided to go with this line of sets. Speed Champions already had the McLaren, Mercedes and Aston Martin. I also don't understand the need for a second Icons F1 car when Senna's MP4/4 is still on shelves. And I'm not even wanna waste any words on the collectible 'minifig' line, which is 12 times the same build but different colors (the Speed Champions cars are partially different builds)
I mean f1 is popular so I understand why they went down this route
I currently own every 8-wide Speed Champions set. We already have 3 F-1 cars, two of which are nearly identical builds. The idea of homogenizing my collection with 10 nearly identical builds makes me reconsider being a completionist of this theme. Also if I were in charge of stocking sets at a brick and mortar retailer, I’d be terrified of this line. F1 is popular but it’s a lot more niche than something like space. Space also allowed for a variety of concepts from realistic to fantastical. There’s no way most retailers will be comfortable stocking 10 nearly identical Speed Champions sets along with all these other sets of one specific type of car. I expect there to be a ton of day one purchases of the entire wave from die hard collectors, but I think the hype will quickly fizzle out and the general market won’t be into these. It will be similar to the BTS set.
Right 😂 like it’s a bit to much and the fact that city is getting on the action as well isn’t going to help
Perhaps I was to harsh in the title about f1 failing however, I do still believe that too much can be a bad thing the comments have given me a lot to think about and I’ll be making another video this week to discuss more about it
did you even look at the speed champions buids for the 10 speed champions cars? there are not the same build, they acturally different car to car, and secondly your ferrari f40 comparison is flawed aswell, the 6 studs wide cars goes perfectly with the lego city streets, so they kind of "fit the universe" this is one of the coolest releases lego has made in years, and there aint no universe it will fail. none of witch will matter to you because this guy just see comments that agree with him
Get this guy of youtube
Yeah i disagree completely. The city sets have a lot going for them for kids, many minifigures, interesting builds and good play features. There's no way this theme will fail, its just too popular for both kids and adults alike. Weve seen this kind of thing with other themes numerous times and its gone fine. The comparison between the two f40s doesnt work because in that scenario they are literally just the same exact car, and thats it. The city sets are very different, its not just about the car itself. Also when has a child ever said 'only the best is good enough', some kids might think that but not the majority
That is interesting I believe you may be correct in that sense the theme could still preform well racing is cool I just believe the city sets could have done better if they would have complemented the 8 stud wide cars
This video is completely wrong. Kids won't care about the additional details in Speed champions, but they will definitely care about the play value by the added F1 garage, truck or pit stop. And your second opinion about people not knowing what to pick, well people will pick the team they are the fan of, or the team they recognize the most. Lot of you who are against Lego releasing all 10 F1 cars as separate sets at the same time are missing the most crucial point: You don't have to buy everything. I think it is great to have options, especially when you consider that all of the cars look completely different! Sure, at first glance they might seem the same, only with different colors, but if you check them in more detail, you will see there is not two that would be the same.
if they will have shell life of at least 5 years, than ok
Great video, got a LEGO Giveaway going on my channel if you wanna get involved 💪
And if it was printed we'd be crying over the price
You’re completely right, if I bought one F1 set with all prints I would be in mad debt
@@AMPresents...agreed but just remember that we have a speed champs set that is on shelves the countach that retail price is still 20 dollars and they have raised the price to now 27 dollars
My reason I won't buy any Speed Champions F1s: Stickers
I don't mind of adding many stickers. I rather buy Speed Champions F1 anyway.
@@Gorrila_Man231 for me its ruins the display value of a model. Nothing screams "cheap" more than details and decals being stickers on a nice build. Especially on lego becuase we know how much better prints look compared to stickers. I even would rather have UV printed decals on pieces than stickers.
@@HegeRobertoI agree with you. I, as a LEGO collector and sticker hater, don't put stickers on any set, because the stickers ruin all the aesthetics of all types of sets, especially the Speed Champions cars. And when i buy Speed Champions sets i don't put stickers because i like the cars without sticker details. For me, it's better to have a car with fewer details than to have a car with all the beautiful pieces being covered by ugly stickers.
