Knitting Brioche in the Round - Beginning/End of Round
My pattern calls for seeming two pieces together horizontally. I can't find a tutorial for that anywhere.:(
I can certainly add this to the list of videos to record, but the reason I don't have one already is that I don't do anything differently when mattress stitching the ends of brioche knit pieces together than I would if I were seaming stockinette or traditional ribbing. I pass my darning needle behind one stitch on one piece of fabric, then the other, working in the space between the cast-on/bind-off and the next row of knitting.
Watched a ton of brioche bind off videos. This was the easiest for me to understand and got straight to the point. Could finish my scarf. Thanks
I'm so glad it was helpful! There are tons of ways to bind off for brioche, the most important thing is that the bind off is stretchy. This is one version that I use a lot.
Color catcher is a good reminder. Thanks
They can be really helpful when you are working with super high contrast colors!
Thank you I think this helped! Do you happen to have a similar video like this that shows it when knitting in the round?
I don't have a video of the same thing in the round (though I can try to make one soon). The same principles apply, the only difference coming to mind is that in the round, you could stop anywhere in the row and may need to slide your stitches back to where you stopped frogging in order to work your second color.
Fantastic explainer. All one colour really does add complexity! Appreciate the video :)
Thank you! And I absolutely agree. One color is definitely harder than two color, it just appeals to the desire to avoid purling.
Beautiful! How is your leg? I am still working on the cowl that I started in your wonderful class. If anyone wants to learn brioche, she is the best teacher!
@Princessbuddy123 Awe! Thank you! It is great to hear that you are still working on your cowl! My ankle is healing and I can walk without the boot now.
@@SynapticStitches That is so great!
Thank you, that is most helpful.
Of course! I'm so glad it was useful for you!
Thank you very very much..i fixed my stitch watching this..i watched like hundreds of vedios but it actually helped me😊
You are so welcome. And that is awesome! Sometimes you just need to find the person who describes thinks in the right way for your brain!
This video is incredible for helping with transitions in two colour brioche and to know how to correctly change from a brioche knit row to a brioche purl row and vice versa. Thank you 🙏🏻
I'm so glad that you found it helpful! While two color brioche in the round is the easiest place to learn brioche knitting, this transition between colors is the most common point of confusion, so I'm really glad it could clear things up for you!
I love the look of this! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it!
What does it look like after you knit further?
I forgot to get a picture of this specific swatch after knitting more rows, but the center column of my Bombini Cardigan if formed using all double brRX and double brLX cables. instagram.com/p/C7PNX1SJpLx/?img_index=1
YO NO SÉ INGLÉS LO PODRÍAS TRADUCIR AL ESPAÑOL, GRACIAS
Unfortunately, my Spanish skills aren't good enough to write translated captions, but if you turn on subtitles, there should be an option to have them autotranslated into Spanish.
Super helpful! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
❤thx so much for continental on metal needles 🪡
No problem! I'm so glad it was helpful! Do you find that it makes a difference whether you see something demonstrated with wood or metal needles?
👍Thank you!
Of course!
Thank you very much for the super helpful videos - exactly what I was looking for and now found by chance! 😄
I'm so glad that you found them and found them helpful! Please don't hesitate to ask if there are techniques that you want to see that I don't have videos for yet.
Great video, well explained. Thank you
Thank you! I'm so glad you found it helpful!
Thank you
No problem!
That is amazing. Elizabeth Zimmerman would be proud of you!
Thank you!
I love the outcome, but I’m having a hard time trying to inderstand what parts of yarn to get in each round especially that I have a fluffy wool in one color 🙄
Depending on how you carry your yarns at the edges of your work, your fabric may look different. It may take a bit of experimentation/practice to find a consistent understanding of which strands of yarn you want to pick up with each stitch. Try pulling your selvedge edge away from the column of stitches next to it. The gap between those two columns is where you will want to be working. Make sure with each stitch you are passing your darning needle behind one strand of yarn of each color. The fuzzy yarn may make it a bit harder to see, but hopefully you can still find the right places.
Thank you!
You're welcome! I'm so glad this helped you!
Couldn’t watch. Video kept stopping
I'm sorry it wasn't working for you! The video seems to be working ok here, so maybe try refreshing your browser or checking your wifi connection.
Super clear explanation!! Thank you so much for this, I find it so much easier to understand when I can see it in action
You are so welcome! I'm so happy that you found it helpful!
OMG! 10 months and no comments...you have left us speechless. 😲 You've gone such a long way on the brioche path! Thank you for showing us what can be achieved with looots of concentration, patience and perseverance. 💐👏👏👍
🤣 Thank you! This can absolutely be done by an brioche knitter, you just have to be fearless and give it a try. Start with a swatch and practice fixing dropped stitches, then work your way up to fixing mistakes in patterning!
Your directions for dealing with that last yarn over is extremely helpful. Thanks so much.
I'm so glad it helped!
Thank you for sharing Jenn
Of course! I'm glad you found it helpful!
This is genius! Thank you so much! I'm making a bottom up raglan and couldn't work out what to do with the underarm whilst trying to keep it neat. 😻
I'm so glad you found it helpful! It works best when you have a provisional cast on so that the bottom of a row of stitches lines up with the top of the other row. Depending on the construction of your sweater it may or may not be ideal for an underarm.
Excellent tutorial! I’ve used the end- of-round stitch marker to hold that YO to the back, also. Open the marker and throw that YO over the needle and catch it inside the pin. 😉
That sounds like another great option! I love all of the different ways to do things that knitters come up with. There are as many ways to knit as there are knitters!
I’m a Combined Continental knitter and 2C Brioche & Garter are my favorite stitch combos. Your Braintree Shawl is my favorite knitwear design ever!
Thank you! It is such an honor for you to say that with all of the amazing patterns that are out there!
THANK YOU FOR THIS!!!!!! I’m a visual learner, and have searched endlessly for a video demonstrating how to graft 2 color Brioche. I truly appreciate all the hard work and effort that you put into creating advanced techniques for 2 color Brioche ❤
You're welcome! I'm so glad it was helpful! Please don't hesitate to let me know if there are other techniques you would like videos for!
