Modelling Mondays: Italeri Scania R144 'Eddie Stobart' Part 3, Cab build. Part 2 will follow
So skipping ahead here. Part 2 isn't missing, At the time of editing, I had yet to finish the chassis, which ironicly I ended up finishing after I uploaded this video.
So the cab, the cab went together reasonably well, the interior was done in a basic grey, while the cab was painted in matt green then Humbrol Emerald green, using a Corgi model as a guide.
Next step will be finishing the cab and chassis and adding decals.
The trailer has taken a separate route, I had planned to build it as a stobart one, I am now going for a standard curtainside trailer. The trailer in the kit will now go with my Scania 143T rigid as a drawbar trailer

A quick look at the new Stadler built stock on the Glasgow Subway. This is the 3rd set of trains the railway has had since it opened in 1890s, the first set of trains, originally cable hauled before being converted to electric power, ran unti the 1960s. The railway was overhauled over a couple of years with new trains introduced to replace the ageing fleet of 1890s stock, the new trains built b...

After years of waiting, I finally got hold of my holy grail kit, 1999 Italeri Scania R144 and trailer in Eddie Stobart livery, the first kit I ever worked on with my dad when it was released. I worked on it on and off over the years until early 2000s. For past couple years I've often searched for one at a good price, earlier this year I found this complete kit for sale on eBay, I took a chance ...

Well the plan was to head to Carlisle from Workington, down to Leeds, then on to Preston and back up to Barrow then Workington. Unfortunately that didn't plan out. So it was a quick visit to Leeds then up to Keighley and back to Carlisle. First we see a 156 leaving Workington with 0640 to Barrow. At Carlisle see 68033 and xxxxxx on Kingmoor to Sellafield, followed by DRS 66 on Crewe Bas Hal to ...

Part two of the Kamaz build. Having sat on my work bench for 6 months, I bought a spray can of Tamyia dark blue and sprayed the chassis and body. Only to find I did the body the wrong shade, so I bought a can of French Blue by Tamyia and sprayed the body. I picked out the details on the chassis with acrylic paints, I thought I had filmed the cab build but didn't find the videos, the cab was a e...

Usually I upload videos as I'm building, but this time. I have uploaded the two parts of this build after I finished the build. I had started this build in January, but within minutes, I knocked my glue over and decided to give up while the fumes cleared. It would be the following month when I started again. Building the chassis and cab with the aim of spraying it when it warmed up. It would be...

Another kit from my childhood, the Airfix deuce and a half. I built this kit over 20 years ago but being a total and unexperienced novice, I used pva glue to build it, the kit was covered in glue marks. I never painted it and ended being binned. The memory of that kit stayed with me, and earlier in the year, I was given the exact kit I built. One thing I don't remember is how fiddly the chassis...

A quick 3 day build of the Tamyia MkV Cheiftan. This was a straight build as there was forecast of around 22 degree heat in West Cumbria, so I wanted to make quick use of the heat. The model was built up in a day and in the afternoon, I sprayed it in the sun which allowed for quick drying. Only other painting was the rubber tyre, barrel cover and details. The tracks came off my 2020 built Cheif...

      Glad you enjoyed it, I had hoped to film more buses during the day, but spent more time travelling on two during the day. The bus at the end is one I helped restore with the bus group I voulnteer with, helped to restore 8 buses now in 10 years.

      It is definitely a beast and certainly stands out in the collection, if only it was 1:24 scale. There is a couple of kits in my stash that I started and gradually lost interest or said to myself, I'll finish it one day.

    David R Lentz, Columbus, Ohio, USA (Friday, 20 September, 2024) EDITED This 1:72nd-scale kit of the GMC CCKW 353 U.S. Army 2.5-ton 6×6 cargo truck is a far better kit than I had anticipated. Thanks! I would like to place it in a queue with Tamiya’s 1:48th- and 1:35th-scale kits of the hardy lorry as they pass along a winding road through the European (Italian? French?) countryside. Perhaps an earlier Airfix 1:72nd-scale kit of a Battle Of Waterloo Farmhouse (04738) (actually, I would endeavour to incorporate several, scattered over the area) might serve as a backdrop in the middle distance. Years past had I begun a generally similar diorama, albeit all in 1:72nd-scale, combining two of these Farmhouse arrangements, with an assortment of U.S. Army vehicles, including a couple of Willys Overland M-32A U.S. Army ¼-ton 4×4 general purpose light utility trucks (Jeeps), a pair of GMC cargo trucks (I had wanted an entire column of twenty--or more!), an M16 half-track with a Maxton Mount Quad 50-calibre machine-gun, all steadily approaching an outer stone wall . . . .

    • @westcumbriantransportfilms4364
      @westcumbriantransportfilms4364 2 місяці тому

      It is a decent kit, I only really remember building the body and cab, back some 10-15 years ago. I do fancy building a larger scale version now. It sounds like a good diorama you have planned up, I was in the process of building a WW1 trench diorama of 3 Mk4 tanks crossing a German trench, but that slowly drifted to the back burner.

    This was exactly the routine of starting up the school buses in Nottingham as late of 2003. Bellamy’s Coaches, Lowes Coaches and Dunn-Line all serving schools. Buses would pile in to the terminus and 5 minutes before leaving at 3.25 the cold starts began. All drivers would be lighting cigarettes, foot to the floor until that blaring air warning died. Typically it would come back on at least once so down again went the foot, drowning out the alarm again.The clag was otherworldly.
