Rent abatement sounds like a loan extension, but in the real estate world! I see loan extensions all the time in commercial equipment loans, but there are rate hikes, extension fees, etc. Are there any negatives to rent abatement from the tenant perspective? Great episode as always.
Great to hear from you, Jake. They still have to pay it, but there generally aren't extra fees. Likely they just have to pay it at a higher rate at the end of the lease. It all depends on how it is negotiated.
