Hey folks a quick question. I'm trying to book an appointment in Cozumel and its not popping up as an option on the appointment portal under Quintana Roo. Only PDC and Cancun are? Have I got the state wrong? I've managed to get an appointment in PDC but my address is at my already booked accom in Cozumel, would this be an issue? Any idea on the turnaround times for the RT Card process in PDC? Thanks.
Does anyone know if you can start the process of renewal prior to the 30-day mark?
I leave mexico come to Pakistan they not stamps any exit in my passport i have temporary resident card if i return back mexico any problem that i face.. guide me
I got my initial Temp Residency Card approved in Rosarito. I have to renew this Fall. Do you know if INM will allow me to renew in Mazatlan? Or do I have to go back to Rosarito? Thanks if you can help! Damon.
Is there still an immigration office on Cozumel?
Hello again..Your video last year helped me with the process and this year Im applying to renew but with some changes in status and address. The Website I am able to login and retrieve my NUE but when I accept the doc and agree, Nothing happens, No completed document from download or adobe popup. Adobe is install and no popup blocking. Im getting same results in multiple browsers and computers. Suggestion? I know its not rocket science. haha
I went to the local office and showed the workers the problem. We then tried NOT using the NUE and re-entering the personal info including passport which WORKED. Just an fyi to anyone else having the same problem when MAKING CHANGES to status
Can it be renewed if it has been 1 year?
We are renewing our residency cards in Sonora (Puerto Peñasco) and are not allowed to have 2 people on 1 Application/Solicitud. Each person needs their own form.
Good job and very helpful👍
Hi, what's the next step after the 4 years of having a plastic temporary residency card? Do I need to go the INM and exchange it for another card?
Correct. From the INM site, you will look for "Cambio de Residente Temporal a Residente Permanente/Change from Temporary Resident to Permanent Resident." Similar process and you will receive your green RP card. After five years, you can decide if it makes sense for you to apply for naturalization/citizenship.
@@caminoriconomad Thank you!! 😊
That part about notifying changes is a bit hard if you are not in the country. I have a PR card and recently got divorced, but can't notify the changes as I am in Australia and not planning a trip to Mex until September October which is going to be almost 9 months after the changes, been I contact with the embassy , but no one can provide an answer.
If your consulate is of no help, the worst-case outcome may be a fine when you update your information when in Mexico.
Thanks a lot for the info! I learned from your video that in Cozumel, we can only do a one-year renewal, so I decided to go to CDMX for renewal. Quick question: do you know if we can change the address and renew the TR at the same time? Thanks again.
You should be able to. You can submit both at the same time. I would imagine they would process the change of address first.
@@caminoriconomad thank you!
Just gone to CDMX, the kiosk in T1 is after security. After standing in line for 30 minutes to check in, they told me that I didn't need to present there and the lady at INM said the only thing I need to do is get the stamp from her
Why do I need it? What’s the benefit?
We had an attorney help us with our first year temporal. She did not give us a copy of the Formato Basico. If nothing has changed do we need to complete the form again for our 3 year renewal? Thank you for sharing the information in your video.
Yes, you will submit another Formato Básico. 🙁
Same day in card issuance in Oaxaca (4 hours start to finish)...no appointment needed. Basically no lines. Nice folks. No issues. Congratulations. It's a good feeling!!
Thanks for sharing
I'm in Playa Del Carmen now (February 24, 2024) to renew my temporary residency for 3 more years. Last year I came to the same INM office and the entire process to go from Temporary Resident Visa to Temporary Resident was done in the same day - from arrival at 09:00 to collecting the card at 15:00. This year I arrived on February 19th, 2024 and they gave me an appointment to return in 3 weeks, March 11th. Yikes! That means I'll miss my March 5th return flight back to Canada. That's a very significant expense and inconvenience! So heads up! PDC is taking 3 weeks to process residency applications at this time!
Thanks for sharing!
Update new process in Playa Del Carmen INM - Starting from March 1st, 2024, applicant to schedule an appointment for Renewal, notification should present your original documents and a simple a proxy letter that authorized other people to act on you behalf, so it’s necessary for applicant to be in Mexico!
@@mikesun-f3l So Playa Del Carmen gives 3yrs Renewals still ..? What about Cozumel office will they also give 3yrs Renewals..?
After March 11th how many days it took to get your 3yrs card
@@10X_Brain_Time Yes, Playa gives 3 yr renewals. I went to INM within 30 days (mandatory) of my 1st yr card expiry date. From there they gave me an appointment to return for processing. On the same day of the appointment date, the paperwork was submitted, the biometrics was done, and I received the 3 yr residency card. That was about a 6 hr process. In all, the entire process took exactly 3 weeks. I did this in March 2024. It may be a longer or shorter time to get the appointment, but this was my experience.
is there a bathroom inside the immigration office?
how to get it?need marry with a Mexico guy...lol
How can you get American residency in 3 days? lol
What if we booked our flight thru a third party? Who would we ask for the refund?
Ouch. This might be a ugly mess. Fingers crossed the third party is willing to submit your information and copies of your card. If you have the confirmation code, you might be able to do it. I strongly recommend not booking flights through a third party / OTA - it limits your ability to deal with changes, cancellations, and overbooked flights. Good luck!
Thank you so much for your information. I was lost prior to watching your video.
For anyone who's interested; I did my 1st year residency process in Playa Del Carmen and the entire process, including biometrics, was done the same day with no appointment. I got there at 09:00 and collected the card at 15:00. It was done on March/2023.
I'm about to go to Playa Del Carmen to renew my card for 3 more years . I'd really like to just go straight to permanent. Does anyone know of any INM office that is currently allowing that? I wish Cozumel was still offering that option!
Check Facebook groups for general Mexican immigration. I believe I've seen La Paz mentioned.
Thank you. I'll go check.@@caminoriconomad
@@caminoriconomad Thank you. I'm checking facebook. Looks like some people have been successful going from 1st yr to perm but with only with financials or with similar criteria met. I'll keep searching. As for the rest of your video, thank you for the content. I used it to get my renewal paperwork together and am set to go. It made the task much easier! If I can get this permanent issue straightened out, it will be a blessing for me. Thanks again!
If I used an facilitator for my 1 year temporary residency. For my renewal, when completing the application, can I click on the box I know my NUE to utilize the auto fill of existing information, or do I need to complete the entire application.
Check the box! You have a NUE, use it! You should see your facilitator's info also
Seems the same process as when they come to our country 🤣
Thanks so much for this information. I’ll be going to visit family in the USA within the next three months.
Walked in got a number waited my turn about 30 mins, got the forms walked half a block for some confectionary owner / immigration forms / side hustle woman to fill out the unreadable forms for 900peso. Walked back handed them in . Total time 90 mins out the door with card. Title you video , don't go to Cozumel for anything. : )
That is great information, thank you so much for sharing.
So if you used the hotel or abnb address do you just keep using it or do you have to change it (and to what) if you haven't relocated to MX?
If you haven't made a permanent move to Mexico yet, it is a little bit of a dance with an address. If you are renewing at the same INM office as before, I wouldn't stress about it too much. Technically, yes, you should file a change of address if you are staying at a different Airbnb/etc. when renewing, but INM doesn't knock on doors to verify everyone's address. Important thing is to have a valid address in Mexico for the town under the jurisdiction of that INM office.
@@caminoriconomad Thank you. I will use a hotel and stay at the same hotel when I come back for renewal. I appreciate your response.
@Mina-sr1jt possibly. As a resident, you are required to update your address with INM within 90 days. If you don't update your address, they may tell you to renew at the INM office associated with your reported address or impose a fine. I believe you can submit both addresses change and renewal at the same time.
It looks like each INM offices does things differently, i got my card in Guadalajara in 2022, but had, photo, interview, biometrics and paid on the same day, from 9am to 2 pm came out with my card. Only one trip to make the booking and one trip to complete the whole thing.
Thank you for your video. This is extremely helpful!
Thanks! Glad it helps someone
I got my Mexican residence card the same day
Yes, everything seems a little faster now
Can you renew at another INM?
Yes, but, you may have to be a resident of that area and complete a change of address before or at the same time as your renewal.
@@caminoriconomad make sense
Exelent
Hi, how much Spanish do you need to know to do this or would it be best to have someone fluent with you?
If you have your documents in order, you don't need much. But, if there are any hiccups, it could be confusing. My Spanish is mediocre at best and lots of pointing and smiling gets you far. If you have almost no Spanish, then, yes, hiring a translator could be worth it.
Thanks for sharing!
Address Change in USA or Mexico ..?
México
Great details ..! Can you also make video on Getting Tax ID
On my wish list. Hardest part is getting a water, electricity, or TelMex bill if you are short-term renting
@@caminoriconomad 1.) I asked my Airbnb host and he helped me with those last time when I asked ! 2.) So if we are going to Playa Del Carmen INM office for 3yrs extension will they accept Cozumel address proof..? 3.) I got my 1st Temp Residency in Cozumel office with Cozumel address !
Thankfully the Mazatlán INM offices will do the 3 year extension - I'd hate to have to return every year! At the end of the 4 year period, Mazatlán has also been known to occasionally ask for financials when converting to permanente. This is not a requirement, but people have said they were asked - just an FYI.
Thanks for the data point!
How do you let them know, you would like to renew for 3 years, by telling them at the window at the INM office or do you need to fill out some online form, where you are selecting the 3 years? I would appreciate, if you could answer this question. Thank you
@@bhembroideryprintingYou do fill out a form, and you also tell them at the window. There is a personal statement letter that many offices do want, where you would state it. This was the first time I've ever heard of an office not extending for the three years - it's supposed to be an option. There's even a fee schedule for it. Just goes to show that every office is just a little different.
This video was very informative and inspiring. I want to move forward to getting my temporary residency and go to Cozumel for part 2. I have questions that I’m hoping you can answer for me. Do they speak English at that INM office or just Spanish? Do you need to fill out additional paperwork for Cozumel or was it the same info you brought to Austin? Thank you for your videos and time and I look forward to hearing from you 😊
*Mostly* Spanish, a little English. Paperwork: completely separate body of paperwork from getting your visa. You need: Formato Basico: www.gob.mx/inm/documentos/informacion-formato-basico The Canje application (Expedición de Documento Migratorio por Canje) from: www.inm.gob.mx/mpublic/publico/inm-tramites.html and your FMM from: www.inm.gob.mx/spublic/portal/inmex.html (only available after you arrive in Mexico)
So once you jave you Mexican residency, can you use that in the states for free hotel rooms and health care?
As long as you are registered Democrat you're good to go...lol
Waiting for your video on Renewal of Mexico TR Card to PR Card ..!
Working on it now!
It's up: ua-cam.com/video/nZNrTX9hEx4/v-deo.html
Best immigration video, you are correct how easy the Cozumel office is. Was awesome running into you and thank you for the Mundaca Coffee recommendation.
I have my TR and most airlines wont do it. Ive tried and Ive tried to request the refund and they have a list of excuses why they wont
All of the airlines will refund your FMM (the visitors permit) fee if you contact their customer service department and ask. They will want a copy of your residency card and your flight confirmation number. The refund usually takes a while, but it's worth asking for, especially if you travel frequently.
Great video as I am about to head to Cozumel to do my temp visa. Can you clarify: Did they require you to show a utility bill with your paperwork or you just put the AirBNB address down on your paperwork as your address?
No, they did not. Just a valid address should be all you need.
Did you get the TR Renewal if so like to know how did you do
Will be renewing later this year, will post about it for sure
@@caminoriconomad Make sure you do the same walk though process how you did your 1st video that is very informative
Hi. Did you need proof of Mexican address? Thank you very much!
This may depend on an individual INM office, but a valid address should suffice.
A valid address. ..US or Mexican??
A valid address in Mexico. This may be your Airbnb or other accommodation. Ypu will need to know the colonia (neighborhood/district) and streets yours is between (entre calles 5 y 10 ). I did discover there may be some houses that do not have an official street number, just a house name (similar to the UK). In that case, you can put "sin numero" for external number.
@@caminoriconomad gracias!!
Thank you very much for the video! Big help, very detailed. We did canje in June 2023. Everything worked as described. We had a hiccup with the confirmation email - I would recommend checking a file status of the application. INM office provides you with a link, username and password when applying. Thanks again, all the best.
Awesome! Bienvenidos!
