These are recordings of guitar phrases played by Paul and Dave Crompton. They have been sampled, looped, and played back at different speeds to create something different.
Here We Come

A tune created by Paul Crompton and John Driver on Tuesday 20th February 2024. This was an experiment in putting a guitar through a 24db Filter and VCA. The filter cutoff and VCA volume were then controlled by two envelope generators that were triggered by a gate sequencer. The guitar and bass guitar were then overdubbed with further recordings using different gate times and patterns. So the me...
Behringer Cat Sub Octave Glitch
Переглядів 266Рік тому
This is a glitch I have found on the Behringer Cat which I purchased today. I bought two units and only this one exhibits the glitch. It's a horrible noise on just one key coming from the sub octave on VCO 2. I'm uploading this so I can show the vendor the issue and hopefully get a replacement. The other Cat seems fine, and it's a great little synth.

    Hey, I enjoyed that. Just stumbled across your film on youtube. I work at Salford University, and I've been going past this spot for 30+ years - I knew the canal went under there but never had a look! Where I work is where the timber yards used to be on the side of the canal just past what used to be Windsor Bridge, just near what is now Salford Crescent train station. The brick wall along the side of the towpath was still there when I was a student at the university in early 90s. The line of the canal is still there - a flat bit of grass just past the mini roundabout where it is obliterated. A digger pulled the earth off a few years back and all the coping stones were still there along the edge. Well, thanks again.

    Very interesting. Some great photos I haven't seen before. I now the area like the back of my hand. I used to live on Westbrook St. (demolished in mid 1984) If anyone fancies a poke about for a bit of lost history. On the banking just by the stone railway arch on Bury Rd, the banking below the footpath to the footbridge where the wood shed is/was tucked under the arch.. might be gone now... 25 years ago there was one of the old iron gas street light poles just lying in the brambles (Other side of the viaduct from Plevna St) I wonder if that's still there... just lying in the undergrowth forgotten. If you know the area from back then you will know exactly where I mean..

    Really interesting video. I used to play on the canal towpath (and sometimes in it) next to the old Frederick Road power station. We would get to it through Peel Park. That was in the mid Sixties.

    Isn't there someone trying to restore parts of this old canal? Does anyone know how far they've got, assuming they're still trying. And I once discovered a serious breach in the side wall of another part of this old canal near radcliffe which apparently happened in the 1930's and had never been fixed since but just left as it was and it was at a point where the canal ran at high level above a valley and the water had escaped through the breach and someone has since built a brick dam across the canal further along the route to contain water in the remaining section between radcliffe and bury which is now a nature reserve.

    I live in Belgium, Fred is not well known here, but I admire him as a passionate story teller and a true craftsman, industrial historian and I tell about him to anyone who wants to hear it. As Fred, I admire the victorians who, not just in England, but all over Europe at that time, worked very hard in the Industrial Revolution to evolve to the welfare we have now. It was not build by academics sitting behind a computer, but hard working folk who paid a high toll, offered their lives as working slaves for very little wages, in the most appalling conditions, but with pride in their work and actually over do their craftsmanship to a work of art. And that's the story Fred told the world, from the workman perspective, the lost pride of these men and in a lot of ways he really lived that live. A man who unfortunately died to young, and loved by so many…

    I lived on Redvales estate as a child, the girder bridge going across the river Irwell we called the monkey bridge used to walk past Foochow paint works better known as McPhersons paints to get to it, I worked there for a while, we used to go fishing on the canal near the Farmers Arms and in Elton reservoir, this would be in the early late 60's, happy days, now just a fading memory

    Off Oldfield road Salford there is a street called Upper Wharf Street. Looking at some old maps and at one time there was a wharf for docking barges it has been filled in and now built over and the canal I think the canal where it was joined to was the Bury canal.

    • @johnthecloud
      @johnthecloud 8 місяців тому

      @@itsonlyme9938 you probably already know this, but the National Library of Scotland has a lot of Ordinance Survey Maps available online. They have both the ones from 1840s-1850s and also ones from 1890s-1900s. It's fascinating to see how things had changed between these dates. The canal is on both maps (as it was built in the 1790s) but you notice how much has changed in respect to buildings, roads, and railways in that 40-50 year period.

      It's brilliant. I spent many an hour creating tunes with it. I tried running it on a PS3 (which does play a lot of PS1 games) but it doesn't work with it. It boots, and visually works, but the sounds just don't play. You have to use a PS1 or PS2. That's a shame because the PS3 has virtual memory cards. I do have one of those third party memory cards that has a lot more storage. I think the closest thing that's currently available on the PS4 is Dreams, but it seems very complicated, and as I've got used to using a DAW on my PC, I find the interface fiddly.

    Dont gob off to the public about fall outs otherwise interesting

    • @johnthecloud
      @johnthecloud Рік тому

      To be fair Steven only say this: "Unfortunately I did have a fall out with John and Margaret 10 years ago. I did apologise. Since then Margaret has died. I have invited the canal society to be involved with these videos, but I don't know if they will. This is not about falling out, it's about the canal" I don't think that can be construed in any way as gobbing off, unless you've already formed a strong and negative opinion of the situation between Steven and the society he founded. To put this into context: the canal society expelled Steven at a meeting he could not attend because his mother had just died. He informed the society of this, but they still went ahead with the meeting - instead of adjourning to a later date - and chose to expel him in his abscence, when he was grieving and unable to defend his position. That was - and remains - a despicable and cowardly thing to do. Since then the society has removed all reference to its founding member from its history. You can't even add his name as the founder of the society to the Wikipedia page without the society actively removing any mention of him. So no, I don't think it's gobbing off. If anything it's showing a great deal of restraint.
