First public service run on Saturday 3/2/24 for the CVR's visiting loco from Dartmouth, Standard 4 No 75014 'Braveheart'. I caught it departing from Cheddleton and approaching Ipstones at Bradnop shortly after. 75014 was withdrawn from service in December 1966 and sold to Woodham Brothers for scrap. It arrived at the Barry scrapyard in October 1967 and remained there until February 1981. A four...

Short clip found on a 8mm reel of a small part of Biddulph Carnival Procession passing the Biddulph Arms at the junction with Halls Road. The procession appears to turn right along Smithy Lane. Not sure when this was filmed but probably around the mid-sixties.
Sierra Leone/Galatea at Furness Vale

With the Buxton Spa Express today Sierra Leone 45562 (or 45627 whichever number plate you happen to be looking at) approaching Furness Vale. Depending on how it feels on the day it is also known as 'Galatea'. :-) Personally I hate this renaming and renumbering of steam locos.

BBMF Lancaster plus a Spitfire and Hurricane
The last pic of 86211 is a sad one to end on, as the driver of this loco, lost his life in that collision..
Superb video Barry.
I remember all this like it was yesterday, everyone had a job, there was such an abundance of shops in all the towns, you could get anything you needed. Although grimy through industry, everything was clean as a whistle.People were proud then. It's so tragic to see it in its steady decline and filth. Thank you for posting this film.
Thank you.
Now thats the city I grew up in a vibrant friendly place. Take a look a look at some of the videos of stoke today and see how multi cultural policies have improved it.
An excellent compilation of Clayton road, Newcastle, Hanchurch end of Trentham estate motorway bridge, Hanley etc as I remembered it as being back in the late 60's and early 70's. Now I live 300 miles away having left in the 80's and the Potteries is but a memory of growing up. Thanks for rekindling the memories. 👍
It's not often photos can make me feel physically sick !
Stream engine on electric track? Wow
Blue peter! :3
Times have changed! For the worse!!
Where do you start!!!
Wow, normal people.
Great footage i was on that train and the futher we got up the bank the louder it got great loco
Some of the dates must be slightly wrong, the green 47s were painted in 1985 (for GWR150) and 47529 was on the scrap line in early 1987…
Lovely noise.❤
I was there too exelent footage
Lovely. Still a lot of billowing steam around the frond end and it looks and sounds as though a drain cock is stuck open.
BLOCKING CHANNEL. WHY IS THIS TRAIN GARBAGE STILL SHOWING UP?! PLEASE MAKE IT STOP!!
Dont watch it then if you dont like trains fine but dont hate on people who make good content to please people who actully have a life and dont hate on people for no reason
Great stuff.Thank you for the footage
Great video, thanks for sharing it 👍 Where is the field at the end of the video, I'm trying to work out where the bungalows that are under construction are?
I think it might be looking from where Checkley Drive is now toward Dove Grove. The prominent bungalow front is on Penine Way, and the 2 bungalowsnunder construction are kn Penine way opposite. At one point you can see the 3 houses at the start of Ox- HeyDrive. Sound about right?
Clayton Road ! Wow !
Would it be trespassing to film there?
Not then. As it was a popular walkers pathway past the junction. But it is now fenced off to the public.
@barryknapper ah there was a spot at bradnop Station but they told people not to film there
Must have been 1967 or later, the red VW van on the bridge is a T2, these were introduced in 1967. Nice to see PMT Atlantean double deck buses, new in 1959- 61 105 examples, much better than the ADL hybrids that PMT has now. Great to see the bustling market in Newcastle, all the way from the guildhall to the Grovesnor sunken roundabout. The whole of S O T is like many areas a shadow of what it was. The pits closed, the Michelin, Shelton bar steel works, the ceramic industry has disappeared, sad times. Thanks for very happy childhood memories.
Great shot! I saw her at Henley in Arden.
My farther was a stoke driver and used to take me to the round house when he fetched his wages. Also remember riding on a tank engine in the yard. Also Blaster Bayes knocking down the coaling stage.
Are you actually aloud to be there because im looking for spots to film
Yes. It is fenced off now but there is a dedicated viewing spot right there. Access is from the waterworks road just past the Railway bridge.
@barryknapper Is that where you filmed 75014 braveheart at because I'll try there thanks
@@Gary-cvr23Yes
Thanks
I was on that train amazing run and great footage
When England was still England. Pretty much Every single car you see made in England . No litter , everyone smartly dressed , my how things have changed for the worse .
This video feels like an alternate timeline where we did things correctly. Stoke is such a lost town now.
Brilliant footage, thanks Barry.👍👍
The Flag lane chimney 😁
I was on this very train when you were filming it
Stoke-on-Trent was a descent place at one time. Look at it now, a bloody great dump 😞
It looked nice back then. Everything did.
Look how lack of diversity was so pleasant
Great shot! I saw her at Manchester Vic.
Nice 3-cyclinder beat!
Only met him briefly . My gliding and power flying started on 1967 at Meir Aerodrome Stoke-on-Trent and my subsequent career took me to many engineering facilities and airfields over 50 years. Retired 6 years now. So many good people in so many places . Sad to hear about his passing . And sadly so many companies and airfields gone forever. I know life is always changing but at least I've been with my "base club and airfield" Southend for 43 years. I lived in Hazel Grove 1973 to 1976 before moving to Bristol .
Remember the airshowe at Woodford in the 1970's. Did some flying there including a bn2 islander. Woodford long gone. Just a museum in the old Hawker Siddeley airfield fire shed. I'm still flying and gliding after 56 years. So many UK airfields gone forever and still going. John. FAI/BGA 51417.
Hi John. Do you know my late mate Tony Knight? He was a glider pilot tutor and also worked at Wooford a long time ago. He sadly passed away this year aged 95. Cheers Barry
Everyone is thin!
i had the pleasure to visit crewe works twice in the 1980s once in 1984 and 1986 i was only 12 the 1st time i went with my late father but they was the best exiting days ever! and a great video 🥰😘🤩
It's Trentham station
Maybe in one shot, but it seems to be LEIGH for the main shots. There is a station nameboard showing as Leigh.
Back then it looked like the kind of place you’d want to pull off the motorway to visit and spend some time.
Isn’t this where Henry was sent after the Flying Kipper crash?
Brilliant, need to play this on the hifi with the sound turned up. 🔊
Not a plastic bottle or can in sight....... Litter.
What a mess we have become.
A couple of pakis
Great days
Great shot! I saw her at Tyseley.
Great shot! I saw her at Chester.
Wow. The motorway looks so clean. I remember it being built. Such a shame Stoke is such a shit hole now.
No more a shithole than most cities you need get out more and you will find out.
