So is St. Christopher's against gay, lesbian and transgender rights, then? I have been to many City on the Hill public events with the homeless families who I work with and have learned that City on the Hill is against LGBTQ rights. City on the Hill staff have repeatedly condemned people at their public events who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, or Transgender. They have publicly stated that anyone who is not living a heterosexual lifestyle is separated from God. While City on the Hill claims to be a “faith-based nonprofit” that works to “alleviate symptoms of chronic poverty in their neighborhood,” they do not mention their strong anti-LGBTQ views. When I have brought concerns up to their leadership, we were told that City on the Hill believes gay rights are against the Bible. I hope these are not the values of your church. The Jesus I worship loves everyone for who they are, regardless of their sexual or gender identity.
St. Christopher’s is a fully inclusive faith community, welcoming all people regardless of matters of human sexuality. Our ministry at City on a Hill has been sharply focused on extending aid to people suffering the effects of generational poverty and systemic trauma. As you can see from the video, that aid has taken many forms and yielded demonstrable results. I invite you to come and visit me over coffee to discuss further, and explore ways of working collaboratively for the benefit of all God’s children in that section of the vineyard. Fr. Geoff ++
@@stchristophersriverhills Perhaps you could talk to the City on the Hill leadership about how important LGBTQ rights are and maybe sway their beliefs. I believe it is what Jesus would do. Especially since their anti-LGBTQ actions are harmful to poor people coming to their program who do not identify as heterosexual.
