FYI ♡ Kayoung was born in Karlsruhe (city in Baden-Württemberg, Germany). She moved back to Korea with her family when she was 10 years old. Considering she lived in Germany for 10 years, it's no surprise that she is fluent in their language. Gayeong actually speaks English with a slight German accent, not Korean accent. That's adorable.
Gayeong speaks 100% native German because she was born and raised in Germany. This is a no brainer. Why should they be impressed? It's like crediting a native Korean in Korea for being able to speak Korean. Hehehehe.
It's not really native level. The pronounciation and the accent are at least very close to a native speaker, but her grammar is definitely not native level. I don't know if she didn't learn it better when she lived in Germany or if it's because she lives in Korea for quite some time now. She speaks quite good though.
@@Flo-vn9ty , my guess is that moving to Korea from Germany has adversely affected her native level of fluency. I disagree with you. I have German ancestry and lived in Germany many years. She is definitely a native speaker, but I agree with you that her accent may have been affected by her transplantation to South Korea. I actually have many German friends who were born and raised up til adulthood in Germany, then have lived in the U.S. for many years. They all have picked up some Americanische "inflexion" and even make mistakes with their English grammar. And let me say that many of my U.S. born and raised students whom I've taught at the university level have grammar and vocabulary that stinks, way worse than what Gayeong may have forgotten about German grammar. In Germany, I lived with Germans who struggled with Hochdeutsch (High German) and spoke mostly dialekt (dialect). Their German grammar, despite having nothing but German ancestry and being born & raised & educated in Germany, had more grammar flaws than Gayeong. I'm sure she rarely has free time to do anything other than act and attend celebrity functions, and meet with her family and select friends, let alone keep up with her German grammar. And yes, all of us who speak multiple languages have improvements in one language sometimes adversely affect our performance in the other languages due to spending our time practicing the language we are good at while not having enough free time to maintain our other languages, even if it's a second co-native language.
@@gillove189 Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to imply that her German is bad. It's actually quite the opposite. It's just that there are a lot of tiny details that tell a native speaker that the person speaking is either not a native speaker or has lived in another country a very long time. That is not a bad thing though.
@@Flo-vn9ty , yes, I understand what you are saying. And my personal guess is that it's the second situation you mentioned: she has lost a bit of her German. Also, even when one is native level in a language, if one's parents come from a different country, one develops what is called an "inflection" -- a certain slight accent with certain words based on one's parent's native language: e.g. a Korean inflection, a Spanish inflection. Perhaps Gayeong also has a slight Korean inflection when she speaks German OR that has developed after living and acting in Korea and always speaking Korean.

lol ive seen these clips of her speaking german etc multiple times but only recently watched true beauty,, js now i saw a short where it was explaining korean actress born in foreign countries and i saw her name and germany togethernand recognised she was from true beauty only to then look her up and see these exact clips of her and realised that german girl is moon ga young LOLLLL theres been so many times where i realised the two "separate" celebs are the same people 🤣🤣🤣🤣
