Hiphop fan Reacts | Fade To Black Metalica!
I know that most hip hop is focused on the beat and words. You're not the first person on here who I've seen have to almost deprogram themselves to truly understand other genres, particularly rock music. When listening to music in other genres, you should leave those preconceived notions behind you and go with the song as a whole, the feel, the vibe. There doesn't always have to be a literal meaning to the lyrics and sometimes, the song as a whole is more important than any individual element within the song, including the lyrics. I hope that helps. I subscribed! Peace
Lennon did hip-hop before there was hip-hop
SRV is one to not just listen to, but to WATCH!! There are so many great performances he has out there. If I were to lead you to one other amongst his many is MARY HAD A LITTLE LAMB. Yes that song!! Lol
I think Mister Rogers would want you to feel and express your feelings, however you want to, whether it's through crying, or not crying. I loved the comment about how he was "a rock star to the little person inside of us"
Exactly right . . .the song "doesn't mean a goddamned thing"! Others have laid it out in the comments below to set the context and history. John Lennon is DARING you to find a meaning in THESE lyrics! Just absurd nonsense, but it works PERFECTLY!
Were you watching the video also or just listening to audio?
Really enjoyed the Walls of Jericho.
More ads than a cat could scratch.
The sequel to this is Glass Onion, from the Beatles White Album, in which the true(??) identity of the Walrus is revealed...!! And in which John trolls the people analysing I Am the Walrus for trying to find hidden meanings in what was just John trolling the people teaching classes in finding deeper meanings in Beatles lyrics generally. A couple of Beatles songs that really do mean something (very) deep, that some people assume are just trite pseudo-spirituality, are George's Within You, Without You, and John's Tomorrow Never Knows. And spiritual in a slightly different way is Paul's Let it Be, a beautiful song about a dream he had about his mother, who'd died when he was in his early teens, giving him some good advice when he was going through a rough patch.. <3
For Blues guitarist he is usually number one, never seen him in less than top three.
Lenny live at El Mocambo, voodoo chile at Austin city limits
Lmao at your face every time he did one of his tricks!
Back in the day, we weren’t thrown by a sound that differed from artists we listened to. Most of the better artists/bands back then had far greater range than we typically see today, and the issue of genre was not generally discussed. When your favorites did things out of the box you acknowledged their diverse talents and didn’t rush to give the new sound a name, as seems so prevalent today. This band actually began in 1967 as a British 4 piece blues outfit, for whatever it’s worth.
The thing is, Janice’s voice, as intense as it was, was only half the story. Her stage presence - how she held the audience in her hand - was second to none. You had to see her perform to fully understand her power.
Life Without You, live at Capitol theater Subbed
All of that performance at the Capitol Theater is phenomenal!
If you haven't heard A Day In The Life by the Beatles-it is considered to be one of their finest.
"Don't you think the Joker laughs at you"?
Try "Work me Lord." It's insanely soulful.
John Lennon met Bob Dylan and tried LSD. And there you go.
This was John’s reaction to pundits who thought they could decipher the Beatles lyrics. It’s not supposed to make any sense. Lots of great songs of this era, particularly those by Bob Dylan, aren’t supposed to make any sense. Don’t any hip-hop artists have the imagination to do that?
The egg men is a reference to a time when they were in Germany , it does mean something.
Hip Hop drums by a real drummer in 1969 don;t say much for Hip Hop.
The real story is the New York times wrote a article about the only songs they could write were about prostitutes and lesbens, after Revolver and Rubber Sole. So Lennon wrote Walrus since they were analyzing hi songs. It was quoted after the play back he said let the fuckers figure this on out.
When asked, they said they like writing songs about prostitutes and lesbians.
I had the chance to hear him live with his brother. The Fabulous Thunderbirds at The Double Door Inn. LOL I had no idea who Stevie was.
You should be listening on headphones to capture all the sounds of this masterpiece. Goo goo gjoob!
It's really hard to compare the two. Both are incredible in their own right. Just two of the best guitar 🎸 players that walked this planet. It's a privilege to see and hear them both.
Enjoying your reactions . Few of my favorites- Cold live, What are you Listening To, The Devil always made me think twice.
He is #1 to this day. ❤❤ His Heart is the Bliues. He's known as a Trick Blues Guitar Player. ❤❤ He's also my Brother. He mastered the guitar at 10 years old he would go ridin' down the Road on his Bike playin' the guitar behind his back. We are from Oak Cliff Texas. South of Dallas. ❤❤ His Idel was Jimmi Jendrix. But Jimmi saw a tape of Stevie Ray and said Stevie was the better guitar player. I love to brag on my brother any time I can. ❤❤. Stevie Ray is the guitar. ❤❤ There is no difference between Stevie Ray and the Guitar. They are 1. ❤❤ Check out live at the Festival Stevie Ray Vaughan 3rd Stone from the Sun. MIND BLOWER. YA'LL BEEN WARNED.
John wrote some of the lyrics influenced by LSD. The up-and-down background cadence was based on a passing police car or ambulance that made him uncomfortable and paranoid. You're correct when stating the words mean nothing. John had already published two widely celebrated books of his surreal writings. If you ever read those it will become very clear that John was into word play. The eggman mentioned was a reference to Eric Burdon and a thing he did with raw eggs and some girl he he was hanging out with. Basically John was trolling the fans since they were looking for hidden meaning where none existed. This kind of thing eventually resulted in fans looking for clues in their lyrics that allegedly proved that Paul was dead. We all fell for it back then.
Check out "Life without you"
There was a point during Beatlemania, when every word, every line of the Beatles' lyrics was carefully examined to discover "secret messages". In fact, many people still do this today. You can look for it, if you google "Secret messages in Beatles songs". John Lennon wanted to give these people a very special nut to crack with the "Walrus".
SRV and Albert King - Dont lie to me . from Stevie' s younger days would be a start
Subscribed in honor of Stevie!❤ For some more of his deep Blues, check out this live performance of his with guest performer Johnny Copeland. Fire! ua-cam.com/video/AGPx-ekqZEo/v-deo.htmlsi=arIssoKRb74lTGCC
Even had an ad in the 2012 episode right before Stacey signed off . 😅
I'd honestly find it hard to say what I *first* felt when I heard this song. The later part (from where the bass really kicks in was for a very long time the (UK) intro music to Formula 1 coverage, and I'd got used to that for some time before I heard the entire track, so I'd already felt quite a lot before even hearing it in its entirety. What *did* stand out to me right away on hearing the whole thing were the vocals of Stevie, especially the short bits when she escapes from the harmonies and sings in what I can only describe as a *very* American voice, and I don't mean that to be in the least uncomplimentary - I thought and still think it was great, and really adds to the experience.
Sitting in a Corn flake,, equals sitting down eating a bowl of cornflakes.
You're trying to make sense of something that was intended to be utter nonsense.
SRV ~ 🎸🐐 The goatiest goat in all of goatness Ranking? I read somewhere (Rolling Stone Magazine?) that if Hendrix is King, then Stevie is the only true heir to the throne. For the next two in the SRV must-see trilogy... **Life Without You at Capitol Theater** **Voodoo Child at Austin City Limits 1989**
on youtube, & a reactor staple: stevie ray vaughan "life without you", live at the capital theater, passaic new jersey, 9/21/ 1985....enjoy.
im not 80, just 48 years old, but idk about ranking anymore, ive seen a lot of it in my days on earth, theres just so many greats...could jimmy page play this? could stevie ray vaughan play "since ive been loving you", by led zeppelin, the live 1973 version from madison sauare garden? ...i have no clue about either...but, with guitar, its not like u can compare numbers & stats over time, & over the length of their careers like u can when comparing michael jordan with lebron james...so, idk.....anyway, stevie pretty much , & typically, makes it into the top 3 with any list of guitar gods worth its salt.
he was a blues genius....zero% talent, 1000% genius....he didnt play the guitar, the guitar played him, & thats why eric clapton called him "an open channel"...b.b. king said "stevie wasnt black & he didnt play the blues....but i never noticed"...
after this particular video, you pretty much know all u need to know about stevie....great reaction, liked & subbed.
And I came to enjoy Twilight Zone Radio. But so surreal for now times. I am going to have nightmares.
We have people we think about. And how wonderful it would be to think. Someone or someone's with think of us.❤
The original was recorded in 1981 by David Allen Coe. To fully appreciate Chris, you gotta watch some live stuff. This song is part of a four song set he did at Austin City Limits. 😊
Oops, Paul was not that fond of MJ after he sneakily bought much of the Beatles catalog (ok, he bought it after not telling Paul). after they had friendly talks about music ownership. Paul was not happy about it.
I wonder if they're traveling on the I - 40, or the I - 10? I've driven on those highways so many times; certainly not as often as interstate truckers, God Bless them all 😊. I'll have to listen closely for hints of what towns these brave characters are going through. Thanks, Anxiety Actor. I've loved so many OTR programs since I listened to CBSRMT as a teen in the mid seventies on a little pocket transistor radio from Sears Robuck and Co. So glad to listen in to The Twilight Zone. 🎉
1989 Austin City Limits,,,,"Voodoo Child"
I love him.
