I got my Sanctuary station all tricked out and capped it off with this gem. But when I logged on the very next day, the armor was back on the floor as usual. I figured it would only last until I used the armor again, thought it was worth sacrificing a suit for a display. Oh well, thanks anyway for the technique!

I started a new game, and did the usual dash through the museum to get the power armor. Marcy complains that all they got for help is a vault dweller even as Preston whined that I wasn't going to kill the rest of the raiders for him. The only two decent people in this game are both robots: Curie and Ada.
