What kind of words do you hear when thinking about yourself? Are they encouraging & loving? It’s so easy to be judgmental & negative. Our words mean so much, the sooner we practice loving language towards ourselves, the easier that will become…perhaps the ugly & discouraging thoughts will begin to disintegrate. #selftalk #selflove #selflovecoach

My baby Poppy died suddenly a few days ago. She was a sweet, smart, very feisty orange tabby cat. She was 15 years old so I tell myself that I was lucky to have her for so long. She didn’t suffer thank God. I miss her cuddles. She used to sleep literally under the covers with me, with her little face next to mine. She made great eye contact and she was very playful. I miss her so much. I loved that little kitty; rescued her as a kitten when she was dumped in a parking lot. Animals are individuals and when we get close enough to know them and love them, the loss is very real - and painful. We buried her in the backyard. Rest in peace my sweet girl. Thank you for your story.

I've had restless legs from back down for years. Distraction is the only way to keep still for s while. Getting up and moving relieves but as soon as one goes back to bed, it's back to square one. Getting up when its freezing cold is off putting too.

We are a nation of coffee, alcohol and pop drinkers, which depletes the magnesium from our bodies. Consume less or better yet cut them from your diet, take magnesium daily. It takes a while to take effect but give it a couple of weeks. You may at first experience diarrhea but that stops with daily intake. My husband and I both consume less coffee, absolutely no pop, take daily magnesium and have no restless leg issues any longer.

I have restless legs from my hip to my feet and my arms. I am on medication that is used for parkinsons. I have to take breaks from the meds and then return to them. In the interim time between meds, I use cbd oil. I do yoga daily and use an exercise bike for 30 to 90 mins. Dancing is a form of distraction. Yes, you do become desperate. The medical professionals still don't fully understand it. All the women in my family have it because mine is the most severe they use me as a guinea pig because I will try anything. I'm currently researching the effect diet may have.

See my comment above, also with many diseases/issues we assume our aliments are inherited, when really it's our diet, handed down from one generation to the next.

I am 69 years old. I have had restless leg syndrome all my life, but never knew it had a name until I was in my mid-40s. Everyone told me it was all in my head. My mother has it (she is 98) and my sister, too, but no one else in the family. When I first got married, my husband had insomnia and we could not sleep in the same bed, because RLS would wake me up when my legs started jerking. I could not stop it. Because I never had a name for it, I never considered it something to be treated for. Neither my mother or my sister took medications either, we just lived with it. After I discovered in the late 90s that they had actually given it a name, I started seeing articles about it. I eventually found a Facebook page that talked about triggers that could set off RLS. Some of them (I don't remember all of them) were too much salt, too much sugar, and not enough exercise. I agree that these do trigger my RLS. In my 50's I started exercising regularly to lose weight and immediately discovered that I slept better and didn't have as much problem with RLS. I have continued exercising since then, but I have also found that too much screen time (computer, phone, etc.) right before bed will also trigger the RLS. I have tried magnesium cream and spray on my legs but have only had minimum relief. I also tried Cyprus essential oil which also has helped some (I mix it in a carrier oil and rub a few drops on my legs). I mainly feel RLS in my legs, although when it gets really bad, I also feel it in my arms. The biggest problem I have is with my legs, though. Now when I try to sleep at night, I wake up before my legs start jumping, but I know the jumping is coming. Because I am almost 70, I realize that it does no good to get upset that I can't sleep because my legs are jumping. Sometimes, I lay there hoping it will go away, but usually it doesn't. That is when I get up and exercise. I also exercise my legs right before I go to bed so that the muscles in my legs are tired and that often helps. When I exercise, I do three things that usually help me fall back to sleep. First, while I am lying in bed, I will point my toes and tense my legs all the way down. I squeeze my butt and all my leg muscles as hard as I can for a second or two, then release and do that 50 times. Then I flex my foot so I am engaging my hamstrings and calves and squeeze as hard as I can for 50 counts. On many nights, that is enough to help me fall back to sleep. When that doesn't work, I get up and do about 100-150 calf raises and then stretch my calves. Sometimes that is enough. If not, I then hit the back of my calves with my fists. It stings a bit, but I have never given myself bruises doing this (and I bruise easily). This makes my calf muscles so tired, I can most times then fall back to sleep. If none of this works, I think about how much salt, sugar, or screen time I have had that day and usually can find the culprit. If I am exceptionally tired and don't feel like moving around anymore, I will lay on the floor on my back and swing my legs, do bicycles with my feet, etc. Sometimes I just walk around for awhile, and sometimes I will stretch out one leg at a time so that I feel the stretch all the way up my hamstrings and hold for as long as I can. I will often start to get a tingling feeling in my legs (a good one!) and I know that it is time to go back to bed. My mother's doctor prescribed a medication for her RLS just last year, for the first time. It really helped her for awhile (as I said above, she is 98!) but in the last few months the medication no longer has an affect. I don't intend to take medication for my RLS. I have managed this long without it and usually can keep it under control, but it is a constant effort. I appreciate your talking about your experience and how you have helped yourself. I hope this might help someone else.

Thank you for sharing your journey with rls. I can see how your exercises would help, they sound similar to ones I sometimes do laying down. Are you having symptoms during the day at all? Mine are in the afternoon sometimes. I hope you continue to get relief, & you feel even less rls! 😊

hi dawn, welcome! i'm so sorry you're stuggling. i feel your pain, i know the frustration closely. how long have you been dealing with rls? have you gotten relief from anything else? i had tried something similar to ropineral, called mirapex, years ago. i know it's hard to handle, but it's helpful to know we're not alone. it's not easy for others to understand unless they've actually felt it. i'm hoping more people living with rls will share in this comments section, and offer some effective suggestions for everyone to try. please check back & let us know how you're doing, & if you've tried something new. i also have more to share, possibly in another video on this topic. thanks again for sharing your feelings, & i'm sending calming-leg-wishes your way! namaste ~ laurenxo 🤗
