Paper Skin: Direct Dipping Into Paper Pulp
Demonstration by Adam Adcock
The video documents the creation of one component of a mixed media wall sculpture. This is an experimental process where I dip a linear lattice-type form into paper pulp to try and build up a natural-looking surface or skin.

Love how it looks
Thank you. I machined a ring from Meteorite and used your method to etch. 10 minutes and it worked a treat 😁
Thanks. Very helpful and great to listen to your process as you work it through
if i want to etch my hammer will this effect the strength of it?
Can we used on embossed aluminum foil
Thanks for all of the detail. I didn't have much time to watch it, so I ran it at 2x speed and skipped untill I got to the parts that were more important to me.
Was that just water that u add the paper to
Yes, just water. No other additives
You don't need to get *anhydrous* copper sulfate for this. "Anhydrous" means "Without water" which in this case is simply not necessary, as we're making an aqueous solution anyway. Copper sulfate is trivially available at most hardware stores as a root killer. Just read the label.
Hi Travis, wondering if there's a way to make a thick gel with copper sulfate so I could use rubber stamp to apply my logo to metal and aluminum surfaces of small parts?
Hi! It looks like you still have the embers on steel plate? And if you have that, then it's going to take much more time before you can see any resoults.
Lost me at 35 min. I agree with "R".
does this work on stainless steel?
Certainly. Mixtures of nitric acid and hydrochloric acid (in a mixing ratio of 1 : 3 also called aqua regia are able to etch gold at room temperature. Elevating the temperature increases the efficiency. Using electricity in addition really does it!
That would have made an amazing 20 minute lesson.
Copper Sulfate is highly toxic and bio accumulative, it isn't thorpughly removed or excreted from the human body by its natural methods.
how do you cut out the vinyl design
It's hard to do it by hand. Order it to someone who owns a cutter plotter. You also need a vector graphics software to draw your model. Coreldraw, Illustrator, Inkscape etc.
informative thank you
Thank you. Doing a lightsaber and this was helpful. Especially the vinyl cutout idea. Genius.
How’d it turn out mate?
Don't eat and drink in the lab! Lol
Really informative, thanks.
