My pressure washer started surging after it sat for a couple years. It never used to do this, just started after I fixed it a few months ago. Thanks!

Hey man would you mind telling me the color order of wires for the alternator plug? From radiator towards the engine is it W,R,Y or Y,R,W? Thanks in advance
@SoSavag3_3NT256 There's a boot around the wires so kinda hard to tell. I can check next time I go to the local yard and see if I can take one apart.
Very informative!
@jacksonpope3955 I watched it at .25 speed and noticed that the bolt at the beginning had a small gap and went away when the starter engaged. Sure enough, I checked and it was loose.
nice
wow
First!
I'd swap out the 3/8 impact
Harbor Freight does have rapid chargers ....ones that come in the kit take a while to charge
starting fluid!
If I would have had some I probably would have tried it!
3:02 Look close, it appears the block is cracked between cylinders 1 and 2.
Good catch. When me and my son saw it we went back to this video to see if it was visible. Sure enough it is. Wish we would've noticed it then, surprised the machine shop didn't mention it either.
I think there are two possibilities, you got air in the system or the unloader valve is not working. If it is air, it should quit doing that after you run it awhile. The other solution is to search youtube for something like "fix pressure washer unloader valve". There are plenty of videos on how to fix your pressure washer.
That oil did not look bad. You should send a sample to Derick (Vice Grip Garage) for the taste test.
@@jaynecobb3701 I forgot to mention it didn't smell too bad either.
I was waiting to see what the oil looks like. Maybe next video?
Sorry, no video of it, but it didn't look too bad. Had a little fuel contamination. I saved the oil filter so I'll make a video of cutting it open.
I did one on a 1998 Toyota Camry today
Great job
The microgard SELECT is far superior to the standard microgard. The select is as good as any filter out there IMO.
@@JimFrye-ub3kq I didn't know there was a select version. I'll look for it next time I'm down there.
I bought well over a dozen Bauer tools and they are good tools for the money but I don't have that 3/8 impact but I seen video of people saying that thing is weak. My Bauer 6 1/2 circ saw is good but a little weak but I like the form factor, blade is on the side I like and it's lite and easy to use. I paid 50 bucks for the 1st one and it lasted years until I burned out the brushes. I bought the second one for 27. Bucks on sale . What a great deal ! So I will see how good it is. My old Bauer was dark red, new one matches my other Bauer tools. I think they are trying to get better built tools and selling their not so great tools cheap. I'm a diy guy that builds my own sheds and decks and I'm always redoing something in my home. I can't see paying 150. for a saw when I can get a Bauer for 25. Plus tax. They are not pro grade tools but they work for me.
Probably a defect, take it back for a replacement.
Get the microgard select Not the cheap one
I thought about the 3/8 impact, too, but ended up grabbing the 1/4 impact driver instead. I bought the high torque 1/2 a while back, so I figured the impact driver might be more useful to me. For the $$, I think Bauer is pretty on point.
got this bauer 1/2 impact today for 159$ with 20% discount
Have you thought about getting an eight amp battery or the 12 amp battery?
@terrellscaife2411 no, not sure I would use it enough to justify it.
There are two dowels that need to line up with the engine when installing the pump.
Good project. I know it's faded a bit but I love the color. Old Hondas are worth it cause once you get it going it's super easy to maintain and fun to mess around with. The d16z6 is a great balance between fun and mpg
Did you fix it and what was the culprit ?
Yes I did, turned out it was a broken oil pump pulley. Replaced the oil pump, rod and main bearings, new cam seal, crank seal, valve cover gasket. Been running good, I believe it has about 5000 miles since I put it back together.
This is when i found the broken pulley. ua-cam.com/video/-imdNYPptMk/v-deo.htmlsi=mZZ2fjmBA4xNk81J
@@mph6502 Ok, changed the main crankshaft as well?
@@AnythingEverythingGh Just the bearings, I never removed the crankshaft from the block.
Nice job 💯
Thanks!
The newer microgards are made by premium guard and are higher build quality look for the Chinese or Vietnam made ones
Thanks, I think I have a Carquest filter on my Altima now, getting close to needing an oil change soon, curious to see how it looks when I cut it open.
Thanks for making the video. I have the exact same bike with only 1,596 miles. I recently took it all down to refurbish as stuff still goes bad sitting for so long. Redid the brakes, fuel system, carb etc I'm using your video to make sure I have everything back in the same place. Now that I'm retired I do plan to ride it quite often. Thanks again Great looking bike
Let me know if there's anything in particular you need to see.
Thanks will do. Don't know if there's a secret to removing and installing the air box but that task is a real character builder. Hope to fire it up this weekend 🤞@@mph6502
@johnfowler6189 Air box is definitely a pain. I remember removing it once and it was tricky.
Thanks!
Love those SHO's! They are becoming valued as future collectables. I would keep them and fix them up.
Thanks! So far that's the plan.
@@mph6502 had 3 SHO's...an 89 like yours, same color! And a red '92 and a deep jewel green '93 atx. All had their issues, but so much fun, in 2003 was in auto college and had my '93...I had the fast car everyone envied it. Had it for 18 years, just sold it a few years back. It was the last SHO of those Gens I ever saw in person. Damn that car was fun. We drove it Like a SHO should...red light race off the line with anyone that looked at you. Surprisingly smoked a few pretty quick cars. Sleeper...thanks for the memories.
Beautiful collection sir! I like that hilux!
Thanks!
Do you mind me asking how much you paid?
I paid $1300 for it around 1999.
Dont know if you still have this bike but, the choke tension is adjustable on most bikes. You just tighten the top where the rubber boot is, it will hold the choke open then. Just use your fingers.
Cool thanks! I will check that out!
What's the story behind that Chevy behind you?
65 C-10, 6cyl. 4-speed, long bed step side. Needs an engine swap, just going to put an old school 350 2 barrel engine. I will probably make a video about it soon.
What region are you located in? I'm in Northeast Ohio and can't believe how little rust you have! I have a 2000 Camry with 280k still going strong.
I live in New Mexico. I used to live in Cleveland, we had many vehicles that had rusted out floor pans, fenders, etc. That salt was brutal.
@@mph6502 Then you know the pain, rebuilding my brake calipers every dix months thanks to the salt brine that ODOT uses on our roads, just brutal
That off-brand timing belt is going to come back & haunt you; anywhere from 20k+ miles after installation it can just snap after it dries rot a little from age because the quality is bad
At least it's not an interference engine, so it won't hurt the engine.
From 1986 to 1995... 10 consecutive years the same XR ... The XLR I think it went further.
U like sale ur bike
No, too much fun!
I just had a wix failure that caused the oil light on my subaru to flicker. When I cut it open, the bypass valve looked like it was deforming. I need to be honest though, the previous oil change had gone for almost 10k? Things happen, This oil change only had 2.5k, then light flicker. I honestly think the filter got plugged up a little. And then I used a microguard filer with 100% synthetic! lol, I'm a mechanic that just don't care. I'll either fix it or get a new one. One of my subi's is on it's third engine, their just so cheep and easy.
I have the same bike. Running Kenda track masters. Run mostly off road. So reliable. Never let me down.
great driving glove also
I have this bike. I use a close pin to hold the choke halfway open while it warms up. It takes about 15 minutes.
That's are really good idea, I'll have to give it a try.
Jgb .....
Jerry Garcia Band?
@@mph6502 bingo.....
Great video. I have the 1992! One thing I did was change the carb to a flatside Mikuni and everything was AWESOME. Starts 1st kick, stays idling from the start without having choke on (don't even need choke really), will stay running on its side, and when dropped at running temps starts right back up. Before switching to the new carb I'd have to kick the living shit out of it to start it again. Always started, but took so long.....
I've heard of changing the carb out for a flatslide, may consider that in the future.
My 91 has the same problem. Did you use the type of carb they used on the off road 250R?
Mikuni Flatside Carb 32mm@@Piggypongtheavgeek
Do you have a source for that mikuni? Model # etc. I would love to switch carbs. I have the PD9E carb and parts for it are extremely hard to find
@@johnfowler6189 I bought the carb from XR's only. It's the Mikuni Flatside Carb 32mm kit. Comes with three jets for adjustment. I used the smallest one and think I need one more even smaller. That said you WILL notice the difference. It wants to eat and you can tip it without a stall or 1000 kicks to restart. Your MPG however will likely shrink. Good luck!
Did the filter have a bypass valve? I didn't see one on the bottom. Unless it is on the top?
I believe it did have a bypass valve in it.
I bought one new in 2002 then a xr650l Al baker model then a street legal XR 400 mint now a 2008 wr250r great bike
Sears used to replace a Craftsman tool without question.
that was happening to us an took carb out blew air on all the jets, specialy the accelerator diafrsm, and all now works realy good, now is running reach so we have to lean it a bit, but it has power.
This is good information. Thanks for posting!
