The segue to the bridge is jarring and pretty much brings the song to a dead stop. It just doesnt fit musically especially with the percussion still continuing through it. I like this version, just wish "lullaby" wouldve been edited out.
Arguably one of the finest Jazz recordings ever made? IMHO. Awesome Bud Powell solo right at 4:25 - beautiful - so understated yet powerful.

It's good, but nothing can beat the Charlie Parker Septet's 1946 Dial records recording of this (with Miles Davis on trumpet).

That bridge is from another of his songs, "Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel)", from the same album as the original cut of "The River of Dreams".
It's not a hymn, it's Billy's own composition Lullabye (Goodnight My Angel) which featured on the River of Dreams album. Check out the full length version and video for that song too, it's amazing like all his work.
It was actually released in 1997 on disc 4 of The Complete Hits Collection 1973-1997 Limited Edition. I know because I bought it 20 years ago.
