General Dreams Outdoors
Приєднався 23 жов 2019
The name GENERAL DREAMS is kind of a play on words, although it was inspired by the purchase of the General XP I wanted a name that works for other items that people are interested in.
In GENERAL it's about DREAMS.
DREAMS that a lifetime of working towards can achieve. And also continually striving for other DREAMS while still raising the family Ang playing with the grandkids. These DREAMS could be going on trips, camping, riding, street bikes, dirt bikes, ATV'S, UTV'S, Jeeps, boating, hunting, shooting, Ect. These are the kind of things that I believe are fun and I think lots of you out there would say the same.

you ever want a guy to come hang and get you cool race drone shots to add to your channel, I am always down to film and make new friends! I live right by the Winchester Bay dunes lol
Does nothing to protect the cv boots. Useless
Just the little factory guards.
@@generaldreamsoutdoors43 ya, also useless
Lmao that's not a sand rig
It's not the best choice for sand, but it is the only one I have. LOL
I know this is an old video but just in case you see this: A. Thanks for reviewing! Good stuff. B. I’m in the process of purchasing a 2024 General. Your upper doors/enclosure look real tight and secure. What brand did you purchase? Thanks again, Neil.
@@neilfromtexas-vn1dv Ryfab back window, USA Windshields, and Polaris soft upper doors.
@@generaldreamsoutdoors43 👍Thanks again!
You sound like Dave Ramsey
Off topic but what lights did you go with on top of your front bumper?
What's the weight of the rack & general? Thinking about this setup for my 250 but worried ill be way over payload.
@OC-OUTDOORS 2100 to 2300lbs depending on accessories and tools in the machine. The rack I have not weighed, but I would guess it is around 500 pounds. With the rack and the general in the truck It feels lighter. (Seat of the pants filling) Then, when I have my slide in truck, camper on the truck. I would guess a 250 would be pushing the limits on the weight. When finances allow, I would like to upgrade to a daully if nothing else for the fact that you have two tires on each side.In case there's a blowout, you still have a tire to hold the load.
@generaldreamsoutdoors43 Thanks for the feedback! I have a rzr 4seat so probably a little less weight than the general but I think I'd be maxing out the 250. I currently have a slide in camper but it's a pop top so way less weight but the family has grown recently so have to do something for next season. The wife refuses to let me get a dually so I may be stuck going the toy hauler route!
@OC-OUTDOORS Be sure to get a toy hauler, big enough for your machine. I had to take some of the stuff out of mine to get my general to fit inside it. And I didn't like doing it, so I made the rack to carry it that way now, instead of putting it in the trailer.
Hello, Are you interested in testing our products? We would like to invite you to test the Front Windshield for your 2020 Polaris General XP4
I tried to change the oil and my shoulders are all screwed up & had an operation on my wrist, and so my hand strength is not what it should be because of logging injuries. The harder I tried to do this the more pissed off I got because I can’t believe they would stick that air filter in such awkward place! I never could get the damn filter off! So I’ll have to take it or I bought it and have them do it. I’m just gonna put new oil in it and run it for a few days and take it into them and have them do the damn thing!
@BryantSamuels1776 It is definitely not in the easiest location. Sorry to hear about your shoulders and your wrist. I recently have hurt my shoulder. So I understand what you're saying. Good luck with everything. And I hope other than that, you really enjoy your machine. They can be a lot of fun.
I pretty much have the same setup. All I need now is the rack. Is your truck a 1999 Ford F-350 4 x 4 7.3 L turbo diesel?
@anythingadrenaline4515 Mine is a 2002 F350 v10 with a manual transmission. My last diesel, I had nothing but problems with, so I switched to gas. Maintenance wise, it's awesome. I do miss the diesel power, though. When I hit the big hills. It has a 6" lift with 35's. It had 38's when I bought it, but they rubbed.
Have fun!!
Training! That's a good idea.
Thats what my mixed drinks do that u give me 😂

I have the same problem with my General.....tried everything, but nothing worked, as much as I hated, I took it to our dealer and found out a sad truth about valve adjustment......As mentioned, there is no simple adjustment other than different sized shims. So, anyway $1300 later, I'm still cranking over and over before it will fire or start. I did end up buying a Yamaha Rmax ( which I love) and just use the General around the farm, iffin' I can get it to start !!!!!
@@wizonkiz Thank you for the info. Although yours isn't very good news, if you spent all that money and it still has the same problem.
I had the same problem with the starting, extended cranking. I checked everything like you did and ended up doing a valve adjust and that took care of it. When it’s cold the valves can hang open a little causing the issue. It doesn’t take much. Good luck.
Thank you for the input. Are there any tricks to making the valve adjustment easy that you might have learned!
You might need to have a dealer check/ adjust valves.
Hopefully, it's something simple like an adjustment. It seems weird that they would get out of adjustment. Which would probably be caused by something Wearing out internally, I would guess.
@@generaldreamsoutdoors43 not sure what the actual cause as things break in or loosing up, it not uncommon procedure talking with my dealer..
What happens over time is the intake valve seats wear (especially if you run allot of dust) then the intake valve starts pushing up in the head more and it bottoms out on the cam that sits above it. The can't be adjusted but rather the shims need to be changed for smaller shims to allow the valve to close all the way again. It will start fine if warm, cold is when it won't. Low compression when cold because intake valves are slightly open 😔 Its important to keep a clean air filter, I also run outerwears prefilter.
Thank you for the information. I have always kept the air filter clean. So, are the seats going to damage the cam? Or after the valves get new shims is there no need to worry about things after that.
@@generaldreamsoutdoors43 no there will be no damage that I've heard. Plus it doesn't bottom out on the lobe of the cam just in between. I would think it won't start at all before you ever damage a cam. You could do a compression test when it's cold and see what it's at. Other thought is fuel pump but then it would do it cold or warm. You could also check fuel pressure.
Nice looking rig, bud!
@@jakelapoint Thank You

Nice Rack
Thank you, I appreciate that!
Super sweet bike I love the classics
Yeah, when they build the same bike for over thirty years, you know they got something, right.
I need this view right now
It is very relaxing being out in the woods with nice views.
How long was the rebuild turn-around time from Dura Clutch?
It was about one week
I've always done mine from the driver's side.. but it's crazy what a PIA it is to do a simple oil change..
Yeah, and some of the vehicles are even harder then the general.
I feel your pain
It is a beautiful property. What I would do (aside from animals like others suggested) would get a cupholder for a beer and some headphones to enjoy some music or something like a book on tape or podcast while I'm riding the mower at least
That is exactly what I do, and it does help.
Sheep would love to help you keep the grass cut!!
They definitely would, but sheep have a downside also.
Awwwww, i want your life , wanna trade ?
Taken care of it is fun. That's why most of us get livestock
I would do that if they could be for food. But my wife would turn them all into pets. LOL
It says in the description of those brackets that they do not fit the polaris general. Just want to make sure they are the right ones before I buy

Hello, Are you interested in testing our products? We would like to invite you to test the Vented Rear Windshield for your Polaris General 1000 XP4
Just wondering about your belt issues, are you always running high range?
No, if I'm going to be going below 20 miles an hour, I will run in low range.
I did mine a few weeks ago and they make it look awesome
I'm with you. I really like them.
Great video, but are your paddle tires on backwards?
Yes they are. It's seems like I'm a little over paddled so I tried putting them on backwards and my belt seems to be lasting longer.
Fronts stock have steering fin/tread
That is a good point. I find it strange that the General XP seems to be the only one in the Polaris line up with that tire on the front.
I'm running a square set up. Tusk Terribites at 8ply dot. Red sealed
How are those tires as far as firmness? One thing that I really like about the tires that come on, the machine. Is that they flex a lot. Making a better ride. I tried a different set of tires once that were so hard it felt like I had a truck tire on it even when it was aired down. I know, I don't want that. you're thoughts
Thanks for the video. Is it a fair comparison a 4-seater with accessories installed vs a bone stock wolverine.
Not exactly, but it gives an idea about the differences.
Just a free high clearance radius arm lol. I have a highlifter and it’s wide but doing donuts sometime it wants to lift. The turbo S 74” guys can almost do what they want lol
Extra width does definitely help. It's gonna get real high clearance radiu arms now on both sides. Lol
@@generaldreamsoutdoors43 heck yeah!
I hate when that happens. 😮
Yeah, sometimes things happen. 😆
Bad bit
A pilot bit probably would have worked better. 😆
Nice light
Ya, a good friend, bought me that light.
How did you place the order for the Rock lights? Just the kit of 8 and All the “Y” connections and extensions came with it or you bought them separately? Great video
I called them and told them what I was doing, and they set me up. I believe only two extra "y" connections were needed. The rest came with. I'm glad you liked the video.
Thank you for your answer. I’ll call them as well. Keep the good work!!
Is There A Setting That Can Have The Rock Lights On A Solid Color And Have The Whips Flash Different Colors
How long can you have the side by side on top of the truck without affecting the suspension or other components?"
I've been using it for a couple of years now and have gone to Moab from Oregon. All with no problems.
Where did you get the upper glass doors
Hi,what model of motobilt it's that bumper???
Crusher with stinger.
My gosh, I hope the rig can handle all that power load.
So far, no problem .
Hello, we are MoGerTor team, can we invite you test the Polaris accessories?
I bought a brand new X370 in 2020. We lived in the upper valley and I mowed about 2.5 acres of the 60 we have there. Then we moved to Florence where it was complete needless as we have a 30'x80' grass yard. Advertised and sold it in hours. Had 26.5 hours on the 18.5 hp Kawasaki motor. Hydralic everything on it, nice machine.
Nice I hope mine lasts a long time.
Not very informative. What rifle rack did you use? No install video? Maybe that's why you have no reviews.
What information would you like? I'd be glad to help. As stated in the video, it is a Great Day rifle rack. The installation is just turning the nuts on the threaded end that I mentioned in the video.
