Motorcycle ride to a Buddhist Monastery in the heart of England
I take a ride out to Cittaviveka Buddhist monastery in West Sussex UK where there are Monks and Nuns in the Theravada forest monk tradition of Thailand. Join me for the ride and enjoy the visuals from around the monastery. Link below for those interested in Buddhism or looking to find somewhere to go for meditation.

We talk more about the differences between the two bikes, and our opinions on each one.

    Does the honda seem a bit dull after the Guzzi?

    • @trevsstuff64
      @trevsstuff64 18 днів тому

      Not at all, it is much more fun to ride I find, it is so easy to ride, so fast if I want it to be and can trickle along slowly when I want it to, I also think it looks beautiful. For me, it is more the other way round, the Guzzi is dull in comparison, I feel more inspired to ride the Hornet. The Guzzi was very different, I think more people took notice of the Breva, and never saw another one when i was out riding, that was kind of cool. I was nostalgic after owning a MKII Le Man back in the 1990's and wanted to recapture that feeling, but the Breva just didn't do it for me 🤷‍♂ Thanks for the question 👍

    I love the Moto Guzzi Breva 1100 it sounds great, I had a Guzzi 1200 Sport a few years ago, and the Breva 1100 looks a similar design I've watched the video twice. I've been inquiring about a Guzzi Breva 1100 from Rob in open-road motorcycles I asked him to send me a video with the engine running and I took note of the Reg. The second time I watched the video I thought that Reg looks familiar so I checked my notebook and I couldn't believe it the bike in the video is the very one I'm thinking about buying. I'm in Aberdeenshire Peterhead. I look forward to watching more of your videos Trev.

      Hi, thanks for the comment. whats a spyball? is that an alarm, it has a Datatool alarm, I guess I will find out if that is a real drain or not. Those battery tenders kill batteries too, it should be fine through the summer. In the winter I take the battery off and leave it in a warm place, then quick top up before putting it back on for the good weather.

    Not the best of days to do a comparison ride, but at this time of year in the UK I guess there's little choice! The 750 is a good engine; I run a '05 Breva 750 here in West Australia and really like the bike. Its 189 kg dry weight (compared to the 1100's 235 kg) gives it a reasonable power/weight ratio and the torque gives nice acceleration. Yes, it's slower than the 1100, but in the present-day world, that really doesn't matter; the grin factor is still there and as a 78-yo with 64 years of riding, that's a big thing. 👍

    • @trevsstuff64
      @trevsstuff64 8 місяців тому

      Hi Chris, thanks for leaving a comment, yeah the weather is not perfect, but it was mainly dry, just a bit like riding in a cloud , i think thats why the lens had such colour flare at times. 78 and still riding, good on yer mate! I would be surprised if I'm still alive, let alone riding when I get there. My idea is, though, when the Breva 1100 gets too heavy, to go down to something like the Breva 750 if I could find one, but at about 20 years your junior at 59 yrs old I'm hoping for a good few years on the 1100 yet though. 👍

    • @chrisweeks6973
      @chrisweeks6973 8 місяців тому

      @@trevsstuff64Agreed, we deal with what's there; might not be perfect, but... I downsized from a heavier bike and the 750's fine for now. If I need to downsize in the future then sobeit, as I intend to keep riding for as long as I can. Must admit, I'm quite surprised that I've got this far, given all the high-risk things I've done; spice of life and all that! 😉

    At age 78 next birthday, I almost bought a Breva 750 version - which fitted me like a glove - here in Australia recently, but opted for an immaculate Honda CTX700 instead. The Honda was 8 years newer, $1500 cheaper and had done 50,000 km less, plus it's more economical, so I've bought with my head, rather than with my heart. Still not sure I made the right choice, however! Enjoy the Guzzi; they're a great bike. 👍

    • @trevsstuff64
      @trevsstuff64 Рік тому

      Thanks for the comment, I was thinking to myself, I am nearly 59, but thought, when I get older and the 1100 gets too heavy, i might switch to a Breva 750, I think you have to be real about your budget, so I hope you enjoy the Honda. I think the injection model of the Breva 750 does about 60 mpg, which is not bad, im getting about 40 mpg from the 1100 on my rides out, and I usually am not not doing more than a 60 mile round trip. I do love Hondas, had a few myself in the past.

      Thanks for that. My stepson had a 750 and an 850 Guzzi back in the day and enjoyed them both; actually, he wishes he still had the California! My first Honda was a CB77 (the 305 SS or Superhawk), back in the 1960's - and there's been a plethora of bikes from various manufacturers, both before and since. Yes, unfortunately the weight factor does become an issue as we age.

    So , my tuppence worth. Not the easiest motorcycle if you have just come back to it , they take some time and patience to get used to . Take the time. Moto Guzzi , for me and a lot of people , become addictive . I have two , if I ever sell my old Blade and free up some space , it will now doubt become three. The Breva is my go to . Comfortable , reliable , easy to self service , handles far better than you'd think and a good looking machine . And it most definitely is not a 'sheep' bike. Should show low to mid 40's on average mpg ( fairly 'spirited' riding ) although the bike's gauge is a little conservative, closer to high 40s to 50 in reality. Personally I'd lose the top box rack , I did on mine , it looks a lot nicer without the horrible thing , and get some factory hard luggage if you need the storage . Most Breva's came with panniers so they should be around second hand. Chrome mirrors and stems look so much better than the placky one's , £45 from GutsiBits. The screen is a tricky one . I have never really made my mind up . The bike undoubtedly looks better without one at all . However I can't be doing with all the crap that ends up on the clocks and around them. It does work fairly well , I don't get any buffeting but it does increase wind noise for me. It stays on mine . There are , of course , plenty of after market ones available. Ride it. Enjoy it. Become a Guzzi addict.

      Thanks for the comment, I actually owned a Le Mans Mk2 850 about 40 years ago, I became an addict then really i think, taken me a long time to get another, but worth it. I agree Top boxes look out of place on most bikes, yeah, even the rack, you have a good point, get some panniers maybe for times when you want to take stuff, wont get a helmet in a pannier though 🤔 its one I definitely am considering thanks for pointing it out. Again, you are right looks better without a scren, but I like the practicality of it, and dont mind the look with it, so like you, it stays, if I were to do touring or long journeys I would consider a higher after market one. Thanks for your thoughts, ride safe buddy 🙂👍

    Bravo, bella moto! I hope to meet you at Box Hill: I will offer a coffee😊... My bike is an old Ducati Monster 620 with a very, very low seat. If you like, join Bikers Head😊
