      The best thing we can suggest is to watch for water temps in the 70s that create a temp break along a contour line. The 180 ft (30 fathom) line is a great place to start.

    I'm going to tell you 100% to troll around the pots to locate those fish 1st. You'll spook more fish then you see. Until a mahi is hooked they are very selective. Once you hook one then it's a free for all. Just pulling up and throwing chunks does not mimic anything that occurs out there that is why you struggle. Troll the pot hook up then chunk. And throw those minis back please. In 2 weeks they will be 3xs that size. I fish out of AC sand not only will you catch more fish but you will hook into a bunch of other stuff like tuna and wahoo. You may have seen my 52lb wahoo this year that I got in my 16ft boat. I run 40 miles offshore regularly.

    • @mulletoutdooradventures6286
      @mulletoutdooradventures6286 Рік тому

      @@wazup3333 trap bouys. We call all of them lobster pots. Usually sea bass or conch or lobster. They place the traps around shipwrecks and hard bottom areas. Off NJ it's basically a desert out to 60 miles. The only thing is wrecks, no coral or stone. So most fishing is centered around a piece of structure. The pots attract bait. It's a place to hide. Then the bigger fish hang around to pick them off. I'm summer the mahi will be usually within 50 yards of the pot. Allot of people will run up on pot and throw cut bait. It's a waste of time. Mahi are predators. They want to chase and catch their meal. If you troll post with ballyhoo they will mangle it. Then you chunk to keep them around your boat. "Hopping" spooks more fish then you catch and if they don't spook then they definitely ain't eating. Troll till you find them on a pot and hook one. Then chunk
