Montana is such a pretty state. Excited to follow your journey south for the winter.

Safe travels south. Check out the Garden of 1000 Buddhas in Montana if you haven’t already. Missoula is also a great town to stop in for a meal about a half hour south of there. I always stop at Masala for some Indian food. There is some great camping along the Snake River in Idaho.

Hey Scott and Uma, Scott & Jen watching from Waterton AB. You could do a drive down though Mo tana via Whitefish on hwy 93 through the flathead region. Weather permitting you could do a look around West Glacier Park. Safe travels!

Watching from a great boondocking spot near Silverton, CO. Look for Aldi grocery stores for the best prices. Walmart is probably your next best.

I had plantar fasciitis a couple of Summers ago. Very painful. I found a lot of exercises that they say will help. I know you are getting help for it but I would like to share with you the link of the exercises I used they are a little different than exercises some others use but they worked really well and quickly. The aftermarket windshields are really prone to chips and cracks. I had 4 replaced by Safelite in my AstroVan. The original factory OEM lasts for years but insurance only pays for aftermarket which is half the thickness. Tiniest rocks crack them. I finally got tired of it and pulled OEM Chevy one from the junk yard and glued it in myself. It was actually easy to do. Just google OEM vs aftermarket windshield. Every year replacements.
That’s for sure. Already have 2 stone chips!
Wise idea to not push the oil cooler. Mine cracked around 123miles and within 1500 miles it went from a tiny intermittent drop to leaving oil on my driveway each short drive before they could get in to fix it. Really appreciate your channel, thanks for sharing your ups/downs of ownership.

This video is fantastic! Thank you so much. It is the only one I could find that shows how to restring an rv blind that has a a pleated screen and blind that separate. There are lots of videos for the day/night pleated blinds that have a rail in common in the middle rather than rails that separate.
I just used the single bolt I had. Made sure it cleared where necessary and drilled a single hole through in. new spot. Job done!😊
Nice to see someone else that pays attention to maintenance 👍 At 125k miles (200km) I had to get a new MOPAR remanufactured transmission. It was painful, but it's been almost 25k miles and a year since then. May you not experience that event ...
Definitely hoping to avoid trans or engine failure. That would be way too long in a hotel and more costly, no thanks I’d rather keep up with scheduled maintenance.
@@ScottageOnWheels Oh I do all the maintenance, so I knew there could be issues at some point. Unfortunately, there wasn't anything that could have helped avoid the failure. If it does happen and the transmission is available, it is a 5-day job.

I'm nervous about my flex plate going out. It seems it's a promaster thing or the 3.6 motor in general. Was wondering how many kms you have on your van? Hopefully its smooth sailing for a while. We love following your Adventures!
@@martincurrie8195 yes, it’s a known Promaster thing. My first flex plate cracked at 95,000 km, second one at 173,000km.
My cruise control doesn’t work on my bafang set up . I set it c7 to 1, but no luck
Hold the down button while throttle or pedaling about 2 or 3 seconds watts have to be going to the motor. symbol will appear on the display. Throttling brakes or continued pedaling will shut it off

I haven't watched a video of yours in a long time although I am a faithful follower and often comment. For many months now I have not been receiving notifications that you are posting videos. I don't know what's going on with UA-cam but I've thought of you and wondered why you weren't posting because I love your videos, love seeing Uma . I was wondering about you and Uma so I checked your channel and saw you have been posting videos and UA-cam is not notifying me. This is not the only Channel that is happening on. I don't know what is going on with youtube. Anyway I'm glad to see you are well, as well and now I have lots of videos to catch up on and see all the beautiful places you've been and all the adventures. Love this video and the gorgeous scenery while you're driving and the beautiful place you stayed with the lake, you do such nice editing and footage and I also love the music you pick. Such a joy to watch your videos. Uma sunbathing on her back cracked me up she is truly living her best life with you. Sorry about all your van troubles I surely hope they get those bolts soon and you can be on your way. Stuck in a hotel or Walmart parking lot does not sound very pleasant. Wishing you the best.. Well at least you have lots of videos to watch. The drive up to the Arctic Circle was amazingly beautiful, the road, not so much. Belly up is Uma’s usual position in the sunshine, that girl cracks me up. Good to see you’re back!

Thanks Chris, that was an amazing place to kick back for a few days. Seems to be one thing after another, but the Scottage(van) is 7 yrs old now with very little maintenance costs prior to this, so she’s been good to me. It’s all part of the adventure.

This year we did the Dempster. Coming back down we met a fellow just before the Tombstone visitors center who had lost an entire wheel (brakes and all) on his fifth wheel RV. It had disappeared into the bush and he never found it. We had a one year old four wheel drive truck and an off road tent trailer so we survived with relatively little damage.
I saw 3 rvs on the side of the road with broken axles. Like I said in video 4x4 trucks are the best option for that road. I was shocked after all the videos I watched, nobody said the road was terrible, just “it’s a bumpy ride” lol
My wife and I drove the Dempster this year. Living in Saskatchewan I have driven a lot of gravel roads (including ones in northern Saskatchewan). The Dempster was by far the worst I have been on. Between Tombstone and the NWT border the road was horrible with only a few good sections. Much better in the NWT, however we were stuck in Inuvik when one ferry was out of action for several days. When the mud dries it is like concrete. First and last time we will drive the Dempster. That said the scenery was breathtaking.
I agree that the scenery was amazing, but that road is by far the worst I’ve ever been on. Both me and Uma(dog) now have gravel road anxiety from that disgusting road. Never again!
I bet those brake pads are pretty dusty after the dempster. Some amazing scenery there. Continue to enjoy.
Dusty and full of gravel too I’m sure. First time doing the brakes on the van, so it’s definitely time. All part of the adventure.

Northern BC has some real hidden gems along that Stewart-Cassiar highway. I could see spending more time camping there next summer. Happy travels south!
