Acrylic Halloween Vampire Bat Painting Tutorial
Happy Halloween and welcome to this acrylic vampire bat painting tutorial!
This is a very simple yet very rewarding painting for both experienced and beginners. There are a few tones, but it’s mostly monochromatic and is extremely forgiving since there is so much dark value that surrounds everything and as always use the colors you want if you don’t have the exact ones I’m using and let’s jump in!

    My paint doesn’t seem to spread like yours. It might be a skill level thing, but wondering what kind of paint you use?

    • @TheAcrylicAsylumwithMikeFerris
      @TheAcrylicAsylumwithMikeFerris 2 місяці тому

      @@larrymiller7311 great question! So I use a brand called Masters Touch. If you’re using Liquitex then it will take more layers to build up because those are very thin, but I love the ones that I use because they are affordable and work very well and also if you have too much water on your paintbrush, it won’t lay down very well. Another reason is because maybe the surface of your canvas you’re painting on is too smooth resulting in the paint, not spreading out very well, so to avoid that it’s good to use one or two coats of a very thin coat of gesso which makes the canvas a little rough and gives it what I call tooth in order to pull the paint off of the brush allowing the paint to spread better that way. Let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with and I hope this helps and happy painting to you.😁

    Your hand is blocking a lot of the painting. Also the paint , you keep moving your paints in front of the canvas. People following at home are a step or two behind you and need to see the canvas. @@Mike_Larry41 great question! I would say draw out a general house shape or log cabin and make it proportionate to how big you want the trees to be in relation to it, and then I would use similar colors in the painting to show that it’s reflecting the color of the night and then put highlights that you use on the tree on just some of the house like on the trim of the roof and maybe a little spot here and there of some light zinging off it from the Moonlight and then I would put a little bit of brush around the house to settle it down in the picture making it look like it’s in the picture instead of on the picture.
