Video that I took on a (mostly) tripod-mounted iPhone of the total

In the Eye of the Tigress (Tropical Storm Irene)
Переглядів 19113 років тому
I happened to be in the center of the path of Hurricane/Tropical Storm Irene as it passed over New York City the morning of August 28, 2011. At around 9:45 a.m., about when the center of the storm would have been closest, there was a brief brightening of the sky, with the Sun visible through clouds it was presumably the eye of the storm. Soon it was overcast again. I'd expected that when the ey...

International Space Station Passes over Forest Hills, New York--iPhone 4 video
Переглядів 1 тис.14 років тому
Tonight I caught the International Space Station (ISS) on video as it passed in the skies over Forest Hills, New York. I was interested in seeing how my iPhone 4's video camera would do in such a low-light night scene, whether it would keep focus or even pick up the ISS at all, given the camera's tiny aperture. I was pleasantly surprised.

On January 22, 2010, the day I bought my Kodak Zi8 pocket camcorder, I caught the International Space Station from Madison Square Park as it crossed the Manhattan skyline, passing just over a possibly recognizable landmark.
The Rooftops of Brooklyn

The trek across Brooklyn at rooftop level on the M train is one of my favorite subway rides. It is, of course, an elevated train at this point, having emerged from its underground journey across Manhattan to cross the Williamsburg Bridge into Brooklyn. This was taken somewhere between Marcy and Myrtle Avenues. No, I wasn't driving the train; I was lucky enough to get a place standing at the gla...
Morning Subway

The arrival of the L train, which I take on my morning commute, at Halsey Street near the Brooklyn-Queens border.
OMG!!!! This is AMAZING!! I was watching the sky last night and thought I was looking at Sirius because of how bright it was and how much it twinkled and all of the sudden it just DISAPPEARED!!! I was freaking out like ohhh where did it go! I have searched none stop for the past 24 hours to try to find out what it was I truly saw and I think you have answered my question, THANK YOU!!!
Excellent video. Informative narration and to have the moon and Jupiter in the same shot is the icing on the cake.
this is one of the best subway rides around too bad the m train is sun going to be running via 6th ave nue
I'm going to miss the ride when I move to my new place--the R train is all underground.
Pretty cool. I always used to do this when I rode the subway as a kid.
the subway is quiet in the morning
Do you know the "Red Carpet Inn" Motel?? I was there on vacation a few weeks ago, and "Halsey Street" was my subwaystation. :D greeting from Germany!
