I've seen them live once. I would love to do it again. Nels Cline is a master at improv. He works himself into a spot, you wonder what he's going to do next, and he just blasts out something you've never heard before that seems to fit perfectly. Always tasteful, always original, almost always perfect. You can see the other band members just looking his way in amazement. Like, "I know I'm good, but this guy is a god." And much of the time, his eyes are closed. He just does it by "feel," at one with the instrument.
