How I Drove 30 Cars In a Year (Without Owning One)
Automatic transmission is so easy to drive smoothly lol. Try it on a manual transmission.
I definitely agree! There is going to be a separate video on a manual transmission.
I think your videos are so great! You deserve more views! I got my license a couple months ago but I don’t know why I wasn’t improving or how to improve my driving. After watching your videos I learned so much!!! Thank you!! I can definitely see an improvement in my driving now!
Thank you so much for the kind words, I really appreciate the support!
Hard to stay at cruising lane in my area as it is normally taken by Big Trucks
okay, the turning is hard with manual, cant keep both hand on the steering wheel, im doing like one hand turning where i just turn the wheel with one hand. But smooth driving is easierwith manuals cause u can use the engine brake
Yeah, no doubt driving manual smoothly is harder! I am still learning to drive manual myself haha!
I really need more practice on breaking for sure. How far out should I start pressing on my break pedal to ensure a smooth break? Sometime I achieve but most of the time I can't.
Based on my experience, it was easier to start out lifting up the break pedal little by little! Eventually, you will figure it out!
Well, my passengers fell asleep so i think that’s means something 😂
Learned that I already do all these things.
I drive like wheres981 and I think you’re wrong
smooth driving and brother is driving an automatic 😂
My issue is driving alone
It looks so new
haha a kei truck 12:26
What camera do you use? I like it.
DJI Osmo Action 4
great video
This is how I drive and I even done left foot braking to make driving more fun lol
Wait a minute, so you mean I can be a slow driver but still be fast? Because I’m so smooth?!
Exactly! 😂
Begins okay with two hands on the wheel. But at 0:30 you grip the inside... and that just doesn't match with good driving.
When you are turning at this speed, I don’t think this should define what good driving is… You should go after 90% of drivers who drive one handed on top of the steering wheel all the time. They are the real threat 😂😂😂
@savvywheels true, one handers are bad, but gripping the inside is losing control
@@MichielvanderMeulen I agree with you, too. But as I said, I was going very slow and turning. My point is, this video has many other things that could be valuable for many people, and judging it just for this, I think it’s not fair. But otherwise, thanks for the comment!
@@savvywheels sure, but I crusade against gripping the wheel inside :p
@@MichielvanderMeulen haha, I definitely get that!
Some of this is laughable. Why are you slowing down to a crawl on a highway on-ramp just to accelarate again? And then you still had to slow down for the Jeep after your accelaration. That's not good driving bro! Just follow the flow of traffic and you'll not aggravate the cars behind you. You preach driving smooth but that's nothing smooth. Use your head, follow the flow of traffic and accelerate to change lanes when you can and it's safe to do so.
@@Silver_o I think you missed the point of this part of the video. An example on the highway ramp illustrates how you can drive spiritedly with smooth inputs. I have other video on highway driving which explains how to do it as safely as possible. In the beginning, I am explaining that if you want to go fast, you need to be smooth. This video is not only for beginners, but introduces some advanced techniques as well.
"Use your head", maybe you should've used yours before writing this comment because you didn't hear anything he said in the video if you're unable to understand its purpose..
Yep. I have driven the highways in Europe. Driving is organized, there is a pattern akin to riding escalators… cruise (stand) on the right, movers on the left. This European driving culture is a great way to build confidence.
I agree, it is a good way to think about it! It helps make driving more predictable and enjoyable!
I ❤ this video. It’s unique and thoughtful. You’re onto something.
Even the illumination on your speedometer and odometer blinks smoothly, and car do you drive?
@@shakirshakeel5840thanks! It’s a 2012 VW Jetta!
A very good quality video, thought you had 100k+ followers. Man, keep it up👍👍👍
Man one of my fear is slowing down for turns that the rear car might hit me
i live in the us and the drivers here completely lack courtesy for others on the road
Yeah, I think we either need better driving education in US/Canada or spread proper driving skills via videos like this!
@@savvywheels I learned to drive better because of my dad and a race driver that I watch which makes driving so much better especially when I'm cruising and I have always practiced being smooth on both acceleration and braking, especially in corners.
dawg…
so then look behind you before you slow down?
What's the speed limit on the highway?
Usually 65 or 70 mph on interstate, and can be lowered to 50-60 mph when highways are places within the cities.
Nice car, we had a black one, same year, same engine. It was great until I was involved in a wreck. But the replacement is a 2012 Jetta Sportwagen SE. Being the same year, same engine and same trim level as the Jetta we had, surprisingly, the wagon has a softer interior, smaller front console, more options in the center display stack and a better stereo. It is very weird being so different, yet so similar. We loved our Jetta and now we love our SportWagen. And yeah, it hauls a$$ too.
I am glad to hear that you are still enjoying the Jetta line, I love the Sportwagen as well!
Nice work, savvy
Thank you, I appreciate it!
You made an excellent purchase; it's truly an original part. It should work very well. I installed here in italy on a 2012 Polo five years ago, and it's still working perfectly. Just make sure to choose high-quality cables for the phone connection, and other than that, everything is great!
what camera are you using and are you color grading?
I am using the DJI Osmo Action 4, and yeah, I am color grading!
Normalize caring about other lives
i love your videos! keep 'em coming
Thank you for the kind words, I appreciate it!
Very helpful. Though in our country we drive at righthand
i live in germany and about 1.5 years ago when was practicing driving with my driving teacher its an obligation to spend at least 3 hours on the autobahn (german highway). in diving school i was a very bad driver and got absolutely traumatized by highway speeds because it was just so much to process for me at the same time and merging lanes in germany are very short. however, even after i passed my test i still continued to irrationally carry that fear with me until about bit over half a year later or so i intentionally forced myself to go on the highway one day to gain confidence and it actually was kinda fun since i improved my driving by quite a lot since getting out of driving school. as of today, ive spent much more time on highways including many long-distance trips and actually managed to safely and responsibly hit speeds exceeding 225kph (140mph) so thank you for this video, my past-me could acutally kinda relate to your sister in that sense😅
Thank you for your comment! I love how disciplined people are on the road in Germany and how much safer it is to drive on city streets and autobahns. It is awesome that you have gained so much confidence and have overcome the fear. (I’ve definitely been there.) Past-me would also benefit from watching a video like this, and that’s exactly the reason I made it!
Got a 2017 Jetta for 8000 which is 119K miles (SE version ). We had to change the breaks but when the car is maintained well, it was a good deal. Unfortunately, all the Japanese cars were overpriced.
Yeah, that was the reason I went to do more research and found out about my 2012 Jetta as well!
Is this from the Noname brand?
Yeah
This is also my first car and i still have it. 2011 2.5 bought at 83k miles for 9200.. i have done some mods to it like coilovers, wheels, muffer delete, etc. Its not perfect because of its age but it is pretty reliable and sounds pretty damn good
i bought mine back on 2019 for my vw polo 2010 tsi, it was the best investment / quality update i did for the car. It works flowless since then.
Great video. More people need to realize the importance of cruising on the right-lane and stop hogging the left lanes. 1). When driving around Bay Area (in California), I prefer to cruise on lane #2 since I've noticed lane #1 usually becomes "exit only" or has several cars trying to merge into it during high traffic hours. This makes lane #1 stressful to cruise in compared to lane #2. 1a). We can tell when a lane is becoming exit only by observing the gap between the white paints and the length of the white paint on the road. If the gap is large and the white paint blocks are long: it is a normal lane on the highway. If the gap between the white paint, and the length of each paint block becomes shorter: that lane is going to become exit-only. So if you don't wish to take that exit, make sure you are on the left of the smaller white blocks. 2). When talking about passing (especially at 9:19 in your video), after passing a vehicle I start moving back into their lane ONLY after I can see both their headlights in my side mirror. Seeing both headlights is evidence that they are usually far enough behind me that I won't be cutting them off when I move back into their lane. 3). Always do the shoulder check when changing lanes and merging. Side mirrors will not show you someone if they are in your blindspot. And please indicate long enough before changing lanes (say, 3 seconds). 3a). If you are in someone's blindspot, try to move away from it by either passing them or slowing down enough to move into their side mirror. Else, pay extra attention to them as they might decide to change lanes into your lane and cut you off.
@@maheshs4056 All great points! Thanks for a very detailed response, I agree with all of your thoughts. It’s awesome that this video is finding like-minded people!
The cruising lane is dynamic based on your max speed, current road conditions, and upcoming splits/merges. If someone passes on the right into heavy merging traffic while you're already going 5mph over the legal limit, that's their fault.
Thank you this helps a lot !
I am glad to hear that it helped, thanks for watching!
Hey man, the 2013 jetta owner here. I got the same radio plus a wireless carplay adapter so I just keep my phone in my pockets. You can also get usb and usb-c ports near your shift knob, also plug and play. And finally my most recent acquisition is the automatic euroswitch. Man my jetta is like a modern car inside with an old exterior. Also I recently found out theres fully digital cluster. But its pricey. About 500 bucks
Thanks for the insights! I will look into these upgrades!
Does this radio work with the steering wheel buttons so I can still use volume/track/phone?
@ as far as I know, it does!
Yessir, I put RCD 330 with wireless CarPlay (moded so the USB comes out in the accessories area) + back up camera in my Mk 5 Jetta Wolfsburg and I like it a lot.
Awesome, I have aftermarket reverse parking sensors, so the backup camera is not a must for me. Is it hard to mod the USB to come out from the accessory area though, it will be awesome to hide the cable!
CarPlay is a game changer 🤩
@@amulangakhechieva2450 So true!

Nice. Is it a turbo model?
It’s a 2.5L 5-cylinder engine, it’s naturally aspirated, I believe!
Cool video! And if you want more views and real viewers, check out for services
Volkswagens 2.5 motor is pretty much bulletproof. While VW has had some not so great vehicles they are not a bad car company in terms of reliability like many people claim. A lot of it comes down to the owners. As long as you keep up on maintenance, a VW like this can be a fantastic car and should give you no issues.
@@pitwhip I definitely with you on this, the 2.5 engine is a hidden gem among VW older products. These 5-cylinder motors have proven to be very reliable long term, and it is typical to see these engines go beyond 200k miles with proper maintenance. And I agree that it all depends on an owner, german cars need proper maintenance for them to be dependable, and a lot of owners neglect it. Therefore, we see this bad rep around them.
I will give you a fair warning. Do not do one single modification to that car. If you do, you will never ever be able to stop. You have been warned....
Bigg mistake belive me😂😂
@iansellan haha, we’ll see! But seriously, you should look up the 2.5l engine in these. Those are just as reliable as Toyota’s and Honda’s.
@savvywheels Yees ok the engine is good but everything else is a problem like Scotty says😂
