Naming is really important to me, as a trans person, figuring out what I really am. I love my name and worked hard to find it and it fits me perfectly. When I worked with a good friend to find a name for my path, which I wanted to decorate my ritual hammer, I wanted to find a way to keep the name I worked so hard to find. Samantha is a feminine version of Samuel, which is a biblical name meaning name of god, and Amatha which is a Greek derivation of flower. We developed the name Ásablóm - meaning Flower of the Aesir, invoking that flower imagery while keeping the gods I believe in central. This name fits me so nicely and it means a lot. That my friend helped me develop it means even more.

Asatru..how laughable,True Norse Odinists dont subscribe to an organized religion, they never did in the past and if you just want fellowship thats fine but thinking this was how it was is flawed, each village and region had different views and methods to go about worshiping the Gods and all the Soy Lattes and Vikings episodes wont change that...Asatru what a joke!!!

@draxthewarlocktitan5217 Asatru originated in Iceland and was copied by the AFA who used it in their prison ministry. It has never belonged to them and it's about time that it is returned to the Norse Pagans that honor the name and the gods, just as the Icelanders who invented it do. Use it unapologetically and defend it from the scumbags who stole and misused it.

Fantastic video, and a favorite subject. I love onomatology (the study of the history, origin, and meaning of names). It’s such a fascinating field! Whether it’s uncovering the roots of a family name, exploring how place names evolved, or diving into the mythological origins of personal names, there’s always something new to discover. Names hold deep significance and connect us to our culture, history, and identity. Which also makes Ausa Vatni and naming rituals profound experiences.

@@redplanetstudio7192You're right. We very likely will not be with Jesus in the afterlife. We believe that we will be with the Gods that we worshipped in life. I myself hope to be with Dionysos in His section of the Elysian Fields where I will attend His eternal symposium and wedding feast. I believe I will be in His retinue with the other beings that served Him and we will feast, drink, hunt, sport, and make love for all eternity. Wherever He goes me and other Dionysians will follow whether it be in the Underworld, on Earth, or in Heaven. This is just one afterlife of one Pagan deity. There are many others for we have many Gods. Would you like to hear about some of our Gods? Heathenry is not my primary tradition but out of respect for many Heathens I have met in life I have adopted the Germanic Gods alongside the Gods of the people who first taught me Polytheism (namely the Gods of Greece, Rome Egypt, and the Levant).

You know, it's funny. We have a God whose name means "Lord". His name is Freyr. Technically it's a title and it's believed His real name is Yngvi. Usually I will just use the full name Yngvi-Freyr to refer to Him to cover my bases. He's a pretty cool God by the way. He is the God of Fertility, Prosperity, and Peace. He is often worshipped in phallic fertility rites and anywhere His image is brought to during certain festivals must cease all violence for the duration of the image's presence in that location. That is how much Freyr loves peace. Surely you as a Christian can value that.

@@JT-sr3cvNo mistake, friend. There are many Gods in the cult of my tribe and in tribes such as the Northwoods Kindred. I said exactly what I meant. My friend, you say your God can beat our Gods. Yet quite amusingly we have a story where one of our Gods challenged your God to a fight and yours didn't show up. It's a bit of fascinating history and I wish we knew more about it. That being said, what we do know about is that fact in the Old Testament there is a story of Yahweh being defeated. As described in 2 Chronicles 3:26-27, Yahweh was defeated in battle by Chemosh (national God of the Moabites). Even more interestingly, we have a Moabite text that actually proves that this is not merely a legend but based on a historical event and they too described it as Yahweh being defeated by Chemosh. So your assertion that your God can beat our Gods seems to be a bit of monotheistic boasting more than anything more substantial.

It is not much of a leap to figure out that "the war" between the gods was a conflict for control between the Sky gods and the Earth gods. Frigg became the wife of Odin when the war ceased. The twins, Frey and Freya, were always Earth deities, children of the God of the Sea. The other gods belonged to either the Aesir or the Vanir respectfully and learned how to get along. Skal
