Great conversation ❤
A truly beautiful open & honest conversation, thanks so much Sharon & Karen, truly special series Karen 🥳
thank you Yvonne I'm glad you're loving this series. xx
Really enjoyed this episode. This is my type of discussion. Delving deep into Race, the body, research and Eugenics! It is often astonishing how some people still don't realise that Racism is a whole ideology, an instituion built on documented opinions and ideas that still manifest in how we are seen/dealt with medically. We definitley need more education and advocacy in relation to Black Womens Gyneacological health from the beginning. Kick up stink yes! Keeping an open mind for my gynea appointment on Monday. Wish them luck...
thanks for listening and yes its a whole undercooked research area that needs investigating and that we need to be more aware of as Black women. good luck to your gynae indeed!
Yikes... imagine taking drugs that make you more confident by default and assuming that is healthy. I really hop they get the help they need

Bless you Karen for these wonderful podcasts. I've only discovered them recently and have been listening on Spotify to the older ones. It's been great to hear the experiences of so many other women and how menopause affects them and affect us all. It's fascinating and disappointing to Recognise quite how much we are being left unsupported in this crazy outdated patriarchal society in which we live, still, in 2024! I'm glad to find these videos of the last few series as it is an extra joy to be able to see you and your guests as you speak words of wisdom, ask the questions that we're all thinking and wondering about, and find solace in the experiences of other women. Thank you again for having the courage and foresight to set up menopause whilst black and for producing such a prolific and highly useful series that is changing women's worlds conversation by conversation. Keep up the great work xx

very beautiful video
Great interview ! Very candid . Thanks for sharing
Thanks I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you both for this enlightenment about menopause. So very little said publicly. It's almost as if it's a taboo.
Yes, it is usually treated as if it's a taboo, going under the radar, while most women suffer in silence.
Dr Joselyn is spot on that women in generally good health go through menopause, feeling next to no symptoms. Having given your "productive" years your best, it should be a time to relax and enjoy yourself. Great interview!
You’re welcome. I’m glad you found this episode informative
Race hustler.
Christ doesn't see the colour of our skin. The world does. We are just passing through and very quickly. Post menapause is coming to the end of the string. Soon, we will all stop breathing, and nothing here will matter. Especially the colour of our skin 🙏
Thank you for your comment. This is all the more reason to own our menopause and live our lives as best we can. Do no harm. x
Great episode! I just found the pod & it's really helping me!
oh yay I'm so pleased! Welcome!
“Move your body as you are able to” and “do something to appreciate yourself” should be every black woman’s mantra.
it really should. thanks for listening. x
Love listening to your podcast and have shared it with many
thank you so much for your support. much appreciated!
Hey Karen, it’s Gabrielle. I found this very informative! Thank you for sharing. Overall the vibe was positive, I’m happy that you were both able to reconnect after all these years. Pauline’s whole ordeal with having multiple surgeries for the fibroids sounded harrowing. You really have to advocate for yourself, because I don’t believe there is a duty of care in this system especially for women. I also wasn’t aware that you could opt for holistic treatments through your GP or that you can write a letter of things you don’t consent to pre-op.
I'm so glad you found the information in this episode helpful. thanks for sharing your thoughts too. rest yup buttercup! xx
I appreciate the tone of self care this podcast has taken. I was blessed that my retirement conicided with the beginning of my menopause. Since retirement and the beginning of menopause, I've been able to concentrate my efforts on self care. That is diffenent for me since as a woman, and maybe a black woman, I'd always been geered toward taking care of others instead of myself. Even in retrement, and menopause I resist the urge to take care of others instead of myself. Thank you for the encouragement in my journey toward self care.
im thrilled that you've been able to turn the gaze in on yourself and truly look after you. and well done for resisting the sometimes overwhelming urge to take care of others before you. its hard but so worth it! you can't from an empty or even half full cup! x
I just listened to the audio version of this podcast. I need to watch on here because it was absolutely brilliant. I am definitely coming to the tea party Pauline. 😁
YESSSS!
In to me I see!!! A whole spotlight just went on for me not a light bulb!!!
riiiight!! so glad this resonates! thank you for listening! 😀

I do indeed! Thanks for sharing your story - so important foremothers to hear! xx
This is such a wonderful conversation!! So much resonated and I loved being able to watch here too (I usually listen, so this is my first time watching). I was using my rollerball made by Vanessa today and I highly recommend! Thank you so much for the mention as well ❤️
Thanks so much @ucanyoga1. Glad you're still using your rollerball. I am so glad I upgraded the ingredients so they last for longer.
thank you so much for your support Paula! x
This episode took me back to my hysterectomy journey. I had no idea about writing your limitations with the surgery. I'm not sure if this can be done in the States, but I will try to find out for friends and family. This is an amazing opportunity to let the doctors know what you will and will not accept. Very good advice, and the HysterSister site gave me more information than my doctor. Thank you for sharing!
I hope that you're able to do so. I had no idea until Pauline mentioned either! Thanks for listening in and taking the time to comment . means a great deal.
Thank you so much for this Visual Version. @SayYesWithYourChest

Hii Karen, I really, really love your style and love what you do! I was just wondering about what you think about head wraps and cultural appropriation. How do you feel about that? Do you think is okay for white people to wear. or not? I have the same question about dreadlocks. I am really curious about your opinion on this topic!
Thank you. Wear what you love. As long as you a/ acknowledge the heritage/country/history you're inspired by and b/ Never EVER wear it as 'costume' you're cool. Fashion is for everyone. Play with it.
@@thekarenarthur Thank you for you honest response! I would not expect you to react so fast, hihi. I think that is good advise for anything. Do not wear something as a costume or as a joke and stand by what you wear <3
