Weight, Build, Dig!
United States
Приєднався 20 вер 2020
Welcome to Weight, Build, Dig! I’m Duane I have a wife and two daughters we live in Alabama.
This channel I will be building our home by myself without a contractor and developing our property.
I’ll be operating heavy equipment I love digging in the dirt. I do brush cutting with my skid steer.
Those are the things I love to do. One thing I’m going to work on is my weight. Which is how I came up with the name of my channel.

If you lay the small tre under your machine to walk on you can clear lots of brushes around your pond, and at the end you can lay down fabric with gravel on top for a trail in there
@@MrKongklo Yep your right. I may do that later on.
An excavator is a very handy thing to have on your property. There's no end to the improvements you can mke with it.
@@mcpiddler1135 Yep You right! I love having it around.
Hello, did you say Ur in Alabama. What part of Bama are you located. I`m in south Alabama myself.
What did slab cost. Was it a dry pour
@@Gokywildcats11 I had 6 yards of concrete from a truck and poured it myself with the help from my friend. Then I had a load of fill dirt I used to build the building pad. It was $200 for the fill and $900 for the concrete. Total $1100.
I just love the color of that dirt!
@@elielcreado Yeah I do too.
Yeah that wasn’t $2800 to finish it, concrete is probably $1500-$2000, unless this was posted 15 years ago.
Question. Why use cement instead of plastic? seems lot a whole lot more money for no reason.
@@wuhsabi yeah I agree with you. It’s just what the company who did the job used.

That’s a nice machine I hope you get it. I have the 302.7 model year 2023 and you’re right about the monitor, it connects to your phone via bluetooth. Plus you have stick steer, cruise control, HVAC. I wanted the 304 but none available so I settled for the 302.7 version and it’s worked well but I still have my sights on the 304, Good luck.
@@genecoppedge5972 Thanks! Nice! Yeah I like the 304 as well. For a while I thought they didn’t make that size anymore.
Is it better structurally to have the plywood horizontal and offset? Wondering why not just have them vertical? Great video.

You are not going to want to mess with that pin setup every time you change buckets. I believe rhinox has a quick coupler that fits your machine. That thumb is stout. Who makes it?
I bought a quick coupler from Caterpillar and it is installed. I bought the thumb from Catapillar as well. Yes it is. Wry stout. I like a lot.
where did you get the bucket? rhinox? i bought a 5ft piece of 6' i beam and it works pretty decent for backfilling and grading $56 just pinch it between bucket and thumb. i have a little u 17 kubota.

Roof is the absolute goal. Rainfall has effect on wood....
Where did you get your manual quick connect? Are you still liking it?
@@kragonstone I bought it locally from Catapillar. Yes I love it.
Have you been satisfied with the mower in general? Looking at getting one of those
@@mikewilliams2695 Yes very happy. For the price of the MTL, compared to other brands that are more expensive. The MTL will do what it say it will and more. It took me a while to figure out how to use it effectively. So I probably abused mine a little in the beginning not knowing how to use it properly. I actually sold mine skid steer and the brush cutter with it back in February. Since then I bought a cat 303.5e2cr mini excavator. I am planning on buying a MTL mini excavator brush cutter for it when I get the money.
@@weightbuilddig166 Thank you sir!
Does the shed walls just sit on top of the concrete or are they anchored in somehow?
@@Peeingstickymilk I anchored them with the kind that you drill a hole into the concrete and tap them in with a hammer and then put the nut on and tighten it down. It works pretty good.
If you can build a shed you can build a house. Are you listening America?
Most broke loser youtubers look for reasons not to use their hands. Good job.
No way $2800.00….unless your counting cement pad put in by contractor….just finished 12x12 x7 shed with own labor and friend with treated Plywood flooring, T-111 siding with metal roofing for less than $500….🧐?

My building one for a guy now her 10 by 16 I'm sorry a 10/12 and it's got a 4-ft peak roof I'm not quite sure what the picture is because I didn't use a square I just did one two by four rafter by and cut every other one to the same and I would say it's like a pretty steep Danny who for the roof and the whole shed everything cost is about 1,850 bucks

Yeah it does.
How much was the slab. I know you said it was included but what amount was that?
@@ukjw2 The concrete was $900 and I had $200 of fill dirt brought in as well. So $1100 for the foundation
@ nice. So you built that shell for pretty cheap. I was debating building my own vs just buying a shed. Wasn’t sure if the savings were worth the headache
@ Yeah so I bought all the materials for $1700. And that was enough to get the shed dried in point.
Why does some land go up like steps? Can you explain?
@@TruthSeeker413_ Yes. So my property has a continuous slope to it. So when I’m building the foundation when digging you’re going off the level. Once the ground goes down from the level that’s when you have too dig deeper, which makes a step. Then you dig that level until it happens again. Everything is based of a concrete block.
@ Thank you!!
How much would a build like this cost somebody doing it themselves?
@@TruthSeeker413_ Well I built this house by myself. I hired out a lot of things. All said and done it cost $175,000. Plus I built it in 2020 right when all the wood prices jumped up. If that didn’t happen it would have have been a lot less.
@@weightbuilddig166 Ah very nice! I’m trying to figure out how my family can build on next to nothing for our budget. I can get us $75,000 at max for a build loan I have my husband and brother but we were thinking of just getting a shed kit and trying our best to DIY it together. My brother has done hvac and plumbing as well as some electrical. My husband has worked as a brick layer/ chimney guy. Does that sound completely insane? They actually think we can pull this off. Do you think we can? We have found I can get financing for things like my geothermal heating but I would need out of pocket for like the pluming and electric.
@ Yes it sounds like you guys can do this. Just make sure if you need a loan get one before you start. Most banks won’t lend once you already started. Best advice is pace your self on each step. Don’t rush to get to the next step. It takes time to build. It takes longer than you think it will. Be determined dedicated to the project. Enjoy your journey. Hope it goes well for you and your family. If you have questions just ask I’ll help where I can.
@ Thank you! You’re kindness is so very much appreciated ❤️🙌 God bless you and be safe while working! I’m a new sub so I’ll be seeing your videos now 😊
