Weight, Build, Dig!
United States
Приєднався 20 вер 2020
Welcome to Weight, Build, Dig! I’m Duane I have a wife and two daughters we live in Alabama.
This channel I will be building our home by myself without a contractor and developing our property.
I’ll be operating heavy equipment I love digging in the dirt. I do brush cutting with my skid steer.
Those are the things I love to do. One thing I’m going to work on is my weight. Which is how I came up with the name of my channel.

No way that costs $2800 with the slab
@@srryan1 Maybe hard to believe but that what it was.
The little square on the bracket is sized for 3/8 socket. Push that in and you can pull up and down instead of the bar/pipe
@@user-gv7es6vs6t Yeah I ended up using a 3/8 ratchet until I got the actuator replaced
Did you do 10ft walls?
@@mikerob2588 I did 9’ walls
This trailer looks very well made, what was the price on this?
@@cassyc2001 I believe I paid $7,200. For it.
It is very well made. I really like the large ramps very nice for unloading and loading equipment!
how did you get the pad for 900.00 do you do your owe concrete work?
@@willpartin622 yes I did the concrete and the building pad myself
didn't pull back vapor barrier before starting. no flashing tape on bottom of sill. no caulking of bottom sill on top of flashing tape or on top of exposed sub strata or brick molds. all before putting door in place. weird.
Great job!
I have the same radio and trying to install, got power to the radio twice with no sound and now no power. all fuses are good including the one on the back of the radio. Any help?
Wow that is crazy. When you checked the fuses did you pull them out and look at them? You know I had to change my old radio because it was burned up on the radio where the wire harnesses hooked up. My fuse was blown too. I was worried my wire harnesses would have to be replaced. I hooked it to the new radio and it worked. So having said all that I think my got wet or something to make it burn. Another thought it just make sure your wire harnesses is completely connected and that all your fuses are completely in all the way. If all that good. You’re going to have to check the wires for a break or bare wire that is shorting out. Let me know what you find.
Just ordered these a few days ago. Looking forward to getting them on. Thanks for the video!
That’s really nice, great work!!
@@mrmontebuilder Thanks! I appreciate your comment
This is awesome and good choice with the ozzy song !
@@jamesa6272 thanks
$2800. I assume that does not include the cost of the slab. I do not know where you built this but concrete is $160 a yard here and the slab alone is over $2800
@@vincentmiceli2554 I did the slab my self. It only cost me $600. For the concrete and $200. For the fill dirt. So I have $800 in for the slab.
Then the materials for everything it came to $2800.
great job!:)👍
Thanks!
You did such a great job!!
Do u have to get it inspected by building enforcement?
@@mikesmith4764 i didn’t since we’re not in city limits.
Is that 9' clear interior height? Great build, I keep going back to it. Subscribed!
@@patrickthompson389 Thanks! Yes the walls are 9’ tall. The door opening is 7’ tall by 9’ wide.
Stop talking and DRIVE !!!

@@bp30656 I still have it

It took me longer than I'd like to admit to figure out the music was ozzy.
@@NAguitarist lol. Yeah I know what you mean.
Didn't even do any cleaning, or rust removal. No primer or paint. Fix the deck first, then decide to do a complete rebuild
@@Curt-dc6cdThe deck is fine. I just wanted to fix the worn out components as mention. Thanks for your comment.
Over 10,000 pounds you're supposed to have 4 chains and 4 binders. So you could use 4 really short chains. Like you said it is under 10,000 pounds skid steer only. Its a good chain down! I dont think they would bother you. That's something you could certainly do differently is the 4 short chains and 4 binders. Thats a federal dot requirement like you stated. The chain over the brush hog is excellent!! Any loader, excuvator etc needs either a chain or strap over the top of the bucket/ attachment, boom or other item. The chain over the loader attachment (brushhog) could easily keep you from getting stopped. Nice work
Those front porch steps, sheesh…
@@RobertSmith-mk6fq yeah I’m gonna put more dirt there for the final grade.
I just turned 700 trouble-free hours on my MX4700DT gear drive purchased new in 2012. Couldn't ask for more in a tractor of that size.
@@comlbbeau yeah it is a good tractor. I use this one mostly for bush hogging.
Auto Parts store has an engine degreaser and then just pressure wash after spraying it on and letting it set for 5 minutes
I'm looking at something like that.. it's a 2017 cat 303.5 with a thumb, also come with a 24inch tooth bucket.. has 3,100 hours on it and they want 35,000 for it what do you think?
With a cab? It really depends on the wear the machine is showing. There could be a machine with a 1000 hours and be wore out. So really you need to get on and operate it for a god 30 minutes and see how it does and look at if after you run it. Look for leaks or wierd sounds stuff like that. Make sure there is no slip in the bushings and pin.
@weightbuilddig166 yes it does have a fully enclosed cab.. I'll definitely look out for that stuff!
How much did the concrete cost?
$600. For the concrete and $200. For the fill dirt that was brought in to build the pad for the slab.
Good job bro!
great job! I have a cat excavator 308 which has a kill switch inbuilt and it really is a savior. I have a question, at the positive terminal there are 2 wires connected and the smaller wire is a little lose and when its moved the excavator stops completely. what is that second smaller wire and how can i fix it? Thanks a bunch
Do you have a picture of it? It won’t tighten up?
Looks like the brother-in-law screwed the sister and the brother...
Only $2800 bc of the concrete base.
Might be a dumb question, but do you get the same MPG? I just got mine today. They are kind of heavy. Thanks
Yes I got the same gas mileage.
@@weightbuilddig166 thanks for response and help installing
Buddy can’t dig straight lmao only 3.5 ft swap and 50ft run …. What a bum
Sheet it on the ground, no need for plumb and line.
As a contractor who builds nothing but sheds and garages with a framing, concrete, and roofing background, this was hard to watch.
Make better video. Show how it's done, contractor who builds nothing but sheds and garages 😂😂😂😂
Does this build require building permit?
It did not. I’m sure that has to do with I don’t live in the city limits. It did require a permit when I built my house.
Did you sell the Big blue 2012 Ram 3500?
Yes I did.
Did tou leave room for the drywall to slide past the sides of the treads and risers? Because if not the dry wall guy or you are gonna be pissed.
Yes I did. I just didn’t have time to show it.
IRC max riser is 7.75”, and that’s steep enough. 8” for a main stair would fail inspection here. Also not rounding over the noses before you set the treads is a huge mistake 😵💫
8” is the max here. The treads i used were really the subfloor for the stairs. I put on nice oak bull nose treads when finishing the floors out.
I made the mistake of buying a front wheel drive lawnmower and it will not happen again. If you are buying because of slopes, then do yourself a favor and be sure you buy a rear wheel drive mower. They do not work like cars do. The rwd models have so much better traction. I do not know if there is more weight on the rear wheels or not but they go so much better. Lesson learned for me.
Thanks for your comment. I notice that with mine. The wheels are turning but there not really pulling you around, they help. Anyway I’ll keep that in mind.
Well now under Biden we have to pay $10,000 for a small shed.
Blame china
What did the pad cost you?
For concrete and the dirt I had brought in total was $900.
What does the diamond shape exclamation mark mean
For my machine it means something isn’t right. When it’s cold it on until the machine warms up. But if it comes on during normal operation then there is something wrong with the machine.
@weightbuilddig166 thanks for replying. I will have to put a scanner on it.
What’s your machine doing?
@weightbuilddig166 I found it. Left joystick needs linkage tightened and lubed. It started raining as I was backing off trailer. It was muddy and slick so I was creeping it back. As it tilted onto the ramps I looked forward to line it up if it were to slide and I saw the symbol go off a few seconds then realized when I go in reverse enough that it starts grabbing, the light stayed off. So when I get time to look into it I will let yall know what was up. Thank you and I will like and subscribe.
Very Nice!!
Thanks!
WHY DONT SHOW THE FOUNDATION BUILDED !?
I did in the video before this one. To see the whole thing from start to finish is like 7 videos.
🎉You still going in
Planning on getting one next spring, had my current one for 10 yrs. It’s old and has starting problems
aw no ... he's for WBDs invaaaaaaaaade!!!!
Is this anchored into the slab?
I did put anchor bolts in after I had the walls up.
That dirt!!!! Not a root, not a rock....like jelly....I'm overcome with jealousy, damn fine job...very neat!
Thanks! We do have some good dirt
