Welcome to Old Anvil TV! This UA-cam channel is a glimpse into the world of building high-end custom cars and trucks. There are plenty of hot rod shops building vehicles at a similar level to Old Anvil Speed Shop, but none willing to pull back the curtains and show you how it's actually done.
We'll be publishing videos that aim to entertain and enlighten including project features, how-to videos, complete build series and more.

Amazing, other than the bodywork, this is practically a brand-new car. And even the body has many new parts. In Europe it would be a complex and expensive process to get a new vehicle registration. Registering a self-built car? Even these days, that's a costly affair. After all, you usually need an individual operating permit.
That aluminum is going to tear when you hook your bumper jack to it.
Looks great, I'd like to see the modifications for the steering column too.
They need to be equal length or they wont fire evenly
Nice job, looks factory!
This whole thing looks great. The design, fabrication, welding and finishing is spectacular. Nicely done!
Just turn the windshield wiper tank into the overflow like everyone else did back then😂 lol nice video man so many people overlook the simple things
Ha, that's one way to do it!
good stuff man thank you , im a fairly new fabricator and im learning you must know and understand the language of a fabricator to become one .
Please your shop links for convenience for us. Thanks for the vid and love your work and knowledge sharing
Thanks for watching and glad you found it helpful!
What is the bag size and brand?
I 100% agree with your definition of a Restomod Paul. Like most things today definitions get totally bastardized. I think Pro Touring is another one of those terms that gets misused as well. I would love to hear your thoughts on a Day 2 car in a future video.
great Build Mate, it looked amazing ..
Keep up the good work
Nice work
I'll keep that in mind
I love using fiber glass filler. It's looking good
I know
I'll try it
I think it's looking good. Thanks for that knowledge
Youre blanking out what i want to hear, so im not watching anymore of it. Bye😮
Please don't delete it, brother this is good teaching I'm following craft!! Excellent work your awesome... Love the guidance
Great work, looks slick too
That looks sharp as hell.
Thanks. We’re pretty happy with how it turned out too.
Thanks for the lesson 👏
You bet!
Really good , helpful and thorough video , clever how you used panel bond and saved the paint . I would have touched in the outer flange before you fitted the rear screen ?.
100% agree with your definition of "Restomod" Not every build needs to be over the top!
Great video Paul. Get out there and drive them cars, that's what it's all about!
Resto Mods 💪🏼✅💯🏁
I agree. I consider the 1st Singer 911 a work of art. But what's followed since with all the OEM-like budget 'hot rods for non hot rodder multi millionaire clients' is of almost no interest to me. As poster cars for kids, I get it. But to me that's not hot rodding. It's as irrelevant to hot rodding to me as Koenigsegg's, Pagani's and Bugatti's, etc are to normal road cars. The 'restomod' terms predates it's current use by a long way, and I wish the journalists and builders of these modern infinite budget recreations would come up with their own term for them rather than trying to 'mold/mould(UK english)' older hot rodding terminology into what they want it to mean. I was pleased to see the Wikipedia definition of resto-modding (in the page 'Conservation and restoration of road vehicles') is "an old car [is] modernize[d] with an updated engine, suspension, brakes, tires and[/or] electronics. And if you resto-mod the right way, you can revert back to stock at any time." PS, cavitation isn't entrapment of air which shouldn't be in a cooling system. It's the 'bubbles' of vapour which get created due to very sudden drop in pressure, which then collapse so fast they release enough energy to damage nearby parts.
I like your definition of what a restomod is and completely agree, Keeping the car looking stock or near stock while incorporating modern tech. I have been building my 78 F250 and been fabricating parts to install modern tech like newer engine, chassis, and an Ibooster. From the outside, it looks stock until you open the hood. The way I want my build to go, I think it is a blend of restomod and custom built as I would like to have some nice tech yet keep the classic charm. I think one thing you sort of touched on, but not directly is safety. You mentioned the dual piston master, lights, aand brakes which in some regards was more focused on performance/feel yet are also safety too. Some simple upgrades would be a collapsible steering column and 3pt seat belts. Thanks for sharing!
🗣️let him cook
What bothers me is high end builds where the color doesn't match across all of the panels. $25k+ paint jobs with doors that don't match, fenders, or whatever else etc...
Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge..I will definitely be saving this video and using it as a reference for my build…❤
Great ideas, i wish I had heard this sooner.
Thanks! Hopefully this helps for future projects.
I completely agree. Thanks for all the great information and ideas, another great episode!
We try our best to provide accurate information, glad you enjoy it!
Thank you your definition of Resto-Mod, you think in the same way as some of us out here in viewer land.
Great minds think alike!
x max is for port injection. you have a sniper on this car
The Terminator X Max is not just for port injection. This unit is a Stealth throttle body, not a Sniper. Here is a link to this setup. www.holley.com/products/fuel_systems/fuel_injection/terminator_x/terminator_x_and_x_max_stealth_4150/terminator_x_max_stealth_4150/parts/550-1013 If you are interested in this system give us a shout. We are a Holley dealer and can set you up with what you need.
@@oldanvilspeedshop i stand corrected. never seen that one. I have a 69 camaro running a LS with the x max.
I have the same quirk about these terms. Restoration = like it just rolled off the factory line per the build sheet. Restomod = It looks original like restored, but safety, power, convenience, and/or efficiency system have been updated to modern tech. Rebuild = fixing rust, getting it back on the road and running, not everything is original. Custom = We did whatever we felt like.
You nailed it, that's pretty much how it breaks down.
Finally a video of someone talking about the aftermarket parts world that gives an honest opinion that isnt worried about endorsements 💯 i have same pet-peave of aluminum radiators. What type of paint do you use to paint them black?
I don't have much of a filter when it comes to technical stuff. If you ever have questions or need to purchase parts we'd be happy to help. Oh, and we first prime our radiators with epoxy and then paint with Vintage Pro Satin black #5810V. It is a single stage urethane that holds up well. They also have a more flat Matte Black #5800V.
Secret number one: Big red arrow on the thumbnail to trick people into watching the video. Secret number two: Music.
please just DELETE THIS VIDEO already
He explained the caster angle briefly but very accurately 👏
I watch the build videos of this car and the say that the top would still go down like factory, with it being tubed for the big wheels, but I have yet to see it with the top down…
Congratulations! I miss building cars for a living. But I don't miss the stress and long hours. This is a great build and fantastic craftsmanship!
Noooooooo
WOW!! I should have stopped by!! I drove by a few months ago just before I moved to Fresno. AMAZING work !!!
really beautiful car
Thanks!
Thats great! Nice job guys!
