It is sad that the present dumbing down of diction, enunciation and vocabulary has caused amazing modern literature like this to get replaced by the amateurish writings, like that of a second grader, to be sought out to be read enmass.

I'm floored by her ability to perform so splendidly while sitting in a chair the whole time. Same with all of the other actresses. (Certainly, the scripts help 😉.)

Right it was her husband participated in the degradation of the woman who shot her husband. She should never have gone to jail.

I love Penelope Wilton. She reminds me a bit of Claudie Blakley here, whom I think is highly underrated, as well.

The writing. The performance. Utter perfection. Total art. It stays with you. We don't see Fran or Henry - but we know them. We 'see' them. Tour de force. All the injustice and pain in life tightly wound in the most sublime story. And that last line? Devastating.
