Taking cover could be like that Joe was a very private person, so, they were always hiding, never in public, so, she was in cover, hidden from public

Many think this is about Matty Healy, he was 25 y/o when they first met 10 years ago (2014). Matty Healy is very immature.

The folks who showed impatience and judgment about your reactions are NOT true Taylor Swift fans. The one thing that defines Taylor, and her fans, is kindness. If you’re not feeling the kindness, feel free to roll your eyes and move on. 🩷

I would argue that Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus does mean wonder... And that there are MANY other songs called Wonder. Not one other song in the world I know of called Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus 🤷‍♀️ I also LOVE High Infidelity 🥰🥰🥰

Blood is thick/nothing like a payroll might refer to Kim’s sister was supposedly Taylor’s good friend… but she sided with Kim and Kanye. Of course she would support her family… but she knew.

It is my favorite song off entire double. And I think it’s fantastic, one of her most vulnerable and best songs ever. My faves are all on The Anthology…. Love her work with Aaron…

ever since you became a peace stan, i knew i can trust trust your taste on the prophecy 😂 anw, you said sometime ago (i think it was in how did it end?) that taylor is so good at writing something that otherwise'd be so simple and propose a new idea that represents that theme in a unique way. and i think the prophecy is one of those examples. the fear that you're condemned to a love that's always transient, moving from one failed relationship to another, she portrays that so profoundly by calling it "the prophecy". also can you imagine the devastation that would've happened if she placed this after how did it end in the track list?

This song was my surprise song and the one I wanted the most from TTPD! I was full-on bawling the whole performance (while trying to sing along) and one swiftie in front of me, with whom I talked to a little bit before the show, put her hand on my arm to give me some comfort while my friend was hugging me 😭

I loved that you had so much to say about this song, such an interesting video, and the comment about willow having a different meaning now was something I had never seem discussed or even thought about but it seems so on point, it definitely destroyed me

Something I think is pretty cool that not a lot of people have pointed out is Tarot Cards. In tarot, the first card (Card 0) is The Fool. It represents a new beginning or a person who is innocent and naïve, who could become an amazing hero or a horrible villain later down the road, but right now is just so inexperienced and kind of childish. So when she mentions that her “Cards Play Out Like Fools” it reminds me of that, especially since the Tarot is often use as a method to divine the future.

    • @Reactsbyjared

woah I had no idea the lore behind the card, but that def adds more layers to that line for sure. Thanks for taking the time to explain it!

There's a reason for the saying "Money can't buy happiness." Taylor deserves to find that joy in her life. Hopefully, Travis can help change the prophecy...

First, I LOVE the background you chose for today!!! Clocks, Roman numerals, and astrology are three of my favorite things...which is funny, because not only is "The Prophecy" my favorite song on The Anthology, but this song also, unfortunately, feels so very personal to me as well. To have someone else put that feeling into such beautiful words somehow gives me comfort. I love your reactions. You are years beyond your age!

I've gotta say, I didn't really care for this song...BUT, your interpretation of it, and the connections you made with multiple other songs, is helping me to look at it in a new light. By your perspective, she packed a whole lot of meaning and powerful emotion into those two minutes and some odd seconds. Even if it's not my favorite, I certainly appreciate the song so much more now! Thank you, and as always, this was a most excellent reaction. I still say, you would make an amazing teacher!!!

I had a visceral reaction when I heard this song, specially the line, “does it feel alright to not know me?” Because it brought me back to, “please, don’t ever become a stranger whose laugh I could recognize anywhere…” It’s such a universal experience to wonder and ponder on the what ifs and some of those hunt us for the rest of our lives. The way she captured the feeling in a two minute song will never not leave me speechless.

Absolutely beautiful song. The more i listened to it, the more im convinced it's about social media stalking. "Transfixed by rose golden glows", people only post their best selfs, their highlights, but if your feeling lonely and desperate it seems as tho everyone is living their best lives without a worry in their mind. I dont know of its a common interpretation of the song, however I immediately thought about the matchstick girl/the girl with the matches. Its a story about a poor girl that was in thr city during winter times, trying to sell people matches in hopes of returning home with some well needed money. However, she did not sell anything by the time she should be on her way back home. Afraid of her fathers punishment, she stayed even longer to not return emptyhanded. Due to the extreme cold, she decided to huddle in an alley between two houses and lights the matches ome by one to get some warmth. In its flame, she sees all these comforting visions of a warn stove and a beutiful christmas tree. However, the wind blows the match out, and the vision is gone. The girl sees a shooting star, which her late her grandmother told her was a person on their way to heaven. In the next flame, the girl sees her grandmother, the only person to ever treat her right. In an attempt to get just one glimpse of her, she lights all the remaining matches. The girl then freezes to death and her grandmas soul carries her to heaven. Thr next morning people pass by and see the girls dead body, with a smile on its face. People express their pity, not knowing that the girl achieved everything she ever wanted, she got one last glimpse of her grandmother and can now spend the rest of her time alongside her in heaven. Thats the desperation i hear in this song. Rose golden glows, the wind blowing, attending chrietmas parties from outside. Sorry for the endlessly long comment

Is this like a “fable” of sorts? I can’t remember the exact word I’m looking for…but like a folk story, for lack of the correct term? If so, do you know its origin? I’ve never heard this before.

    • @gaceofspades
      @gaceofspades 17 днів тому

@JRay.R It's a Danish fairytale by the author Hans Christian Anderson, and I believe it was published in 1846-ish, give or a take a few years. There have also been quite a few movie/short film adaptations of it. Even Disney has a short film about it. I believe it was written for the "dansk folkekalender," which is basically a collection of stories, fables, fairytales, and even music. I tried looking further into it. However, I do not speak Danish lol, but I am German, so I was able to get the gist of it.

@@gaceofspades thank you! Exactly what I expected, actually! I have a friend who lives in Denmark (and is from there), I’ll have to ask him about it. My great grandparents were from Denmark, though I have about zero knowledge of the culture, but I had a feeling this story came from somewhere in that general area of the world. Thanks for sharing!
