I've owned 3 EV's, 2 Kia Soul EV+ and now a Bolt EUV. I paid under 20k for each of them, over the 5 years I've had them. Maintenance was at or under 100 bucks a year. Car insurance was literally the same rate for the Kia's as the ICE counterpart, and insurance on the bolt is cheaper than my 2016 Equinox. About the ONLY points in this video that have a little merit are, yes EV depreciation is a little more, BUT that depends on the car. The public charging in the US is not great, BUT if you really want an EV you can make it happen. I have 2 friends that drive EV's that live in apartments and they just have to plan a little more ahead of time. Yes IF the battery pack fails, and IF it's not under warranty it may be expensive to fix. BUT most EV's have 8-12 year 100k-175k mile battery pack warranties, regardless of the owner. Plus there are places popping up all over that can refurbished bad battery for about 3-5 thousand. Also data show most EV's made after 2018 can expect at least 10-15 years before the battery drops to under 35% capacity. Also most people are not doing road trips on a weekly basis. 95% of all driving is commuting and day to day errands. The average American does 50-100 miles a day driving. You didn't need an EV with tons of range. My Kia's both got 95ish and I only charged them every 2 to 3 days. My Bolt gets 260 on average, I only change it about 1 or 2 a week. Oh and check the data fires in ICE cars are 15 time higher and 4 times deadlier than EV's.
