Smash Bros Ultimate Menu Theme - Ableton Live Mockup
Переглядів 1114 місяці тому
I've been recently trying to make my mockups sound more convincing, & SSBU is my favorite game ever. (didn't have time to finish the rest). This is a very hard orchestral arrangement to understand, there's so much syncopation and movement with almost every instrument in the orchestra, and to top it off there's a ripping bass-line accompanied by some fast drums. Quite a challenge for sure. All m...
Making the "Dune" intro drums in Ableton

The arrangement and sound design for Dune really has set the bar high for what sounds modern. This was a fun little session during some downtime today. contact: randyydominguezz@gmail.com

Anakin vs Obi Wan Orchestral Mockup

All made using a combination of various east west, and performance samples libraries. I mocked this up some time last year but wanted to post something while I’m in my musical hiatus. Orchestral libraries can be VERY powerful with meticulous tweaks to your midi and if you have the time and patience to do so.

This library feels really good to the touch. Fast transitions, yet a really easy to hear legato sound. Good job Performance Samples! (No EQ or EFX)

Goodbye 2020! John Williams mockups are always really fun to do. This is the first one I actually felt pretty good about. What Star Wars tune Should I do next? 🤔 All samples are from East West (wait until the end) Instagram - @randy_dominguez_ Randy-Dominguez.com
Been jumping through your videos. You’re the real deal man. Nice work! Not a lot of audio people on UA-cam doing this high level quality work.
Means a lot intheblink!! Anything you would like to see more of?
Sounds like an amp missing a cab. Run it through an Impulse Response. There are a lot of good free ones. Or run it through a plugin like one of Neural DSP's archetype plugins. You can turn on or off everything inside the amp sim so you can run it as just a cab simulator or run it as a full-blown guitar rig. My personal favorites for my 8 string are Archetype Rabea, Archetype Plini, and Archetype Tim Henson for cleans.
@@TheMusicalMedic It is, I took the cab off for this. I really like that DI ish tone bc when you run clean early in the process it allows for more tailored distortion later on without bringing up room noise. NDSP still needs to be added to my rack.
Hello Will you make a full song using this 8 string guitar? It sounds sick af dude I hope ull drop it soon
Hey! I don’t really have any plans to release but stay tuned for more design videos 😄
ill
Could you drop a list of what you used?
Definitely, will put a link of chain in description!
yo you killed this 😭🔥
This is film quality!
amazing work! will you ever share it as a template?
This is awesome, the sound design is incredible
✋ Promo SM
This is really nicely done! I just wish the exact rhythms were written out somehow. I know it's supposed to be an "impossible" drum beat, but I know I've gotten close to playing it.
Same here. I believe most of this was made with a synth and an lfo triggering an oscillator. So we may never know. It could just be some out of time cadence based on milliseconds rather than anything in a standard time signature 😅
nice
While you did design some nice, beefy sounding drums I have to say both of the Hans Zimmer versions convey a very different feeling that fits Dune better. They have a sound of something vaguely familiar but also otherworldly, whereas yours are very obviously regular drums (that are as I said really good and would fit somewhere else perfectly).
So you extracted the midi information from the original sample? Which gave you the info for when the drums are meant to hit? Sorry I’m a novice just trying to understand the process. Is the drum “roll” all the same sound? Like are all the hits a snare for example just being hit at different pitches to give that illusion of multiple sounds?
I’m extracting the midi information by using very dramatic transient detail, then adjusting the velocity of the midi sequence. That’s a good method as well, adjusting pitch per hit to give an essence of realism with stale sounds. Try to focus on velocity adjustments in the piano roll, especially when using expensive libraries like damage.
You should experiment with adding some djembe
Belive it or not, these were actually made using Zebra2, programmed by Kevin Schroeder
Amazing, is there a source for this info?
wasn't expecting such neat tips with the midi drums on a video with 2k views, love this!
Great job man I'm amazed by the output !! keep the good work up brother !!
That's awesome. However i *think* i might hear some element in the Hans version that you might have missed. I'm talking about the Pt 2, deeper version. Some of the transients there seem to be layered with some sort of white noise sweep. It's very fast. It might be some LFO that has it's rate go down, modulating volume as well as LP filter cutoff with low - medium resonance. That's a technique i used to use for my EDM downlifters / exhausts, and i think i can hear that or something adjacent to it in those deeper drums.
That’s awesome advice, thanks for sharing! White noise seems to work on most modern tracks in some way shape or form.

Epic
nice work- love it!
Amazing! Very enjoyable info.
so fking cool
well done
yo how'd you make that bass downer!? that was huge!
that scream sound at the beginning was awesome, sounds like something out of dune itself
Might do a tutorial soon! Glad you like it
Sooo cool
amazing
nice man sounds good
Great Job. Hans his hights are more cutted off.
interesting work man
I am absolutely glad this landed in my recommended :) Great job!
This was awesome! No BS or talking for 10 minutes, just right to the sauce. Would love to see more cinematic/taiko drums content
Thank you! Ill try to get more cinematic design content out.
10 minutes?
sick
Hi, great mock up. I noticed the strings/horns are doubled, labeled with CL, etc. Are you layering vista with other libs? Or is that separated outputs for mix control? Thanks!
Hey lbmusic, CL just represents close mic positions of the same sample. My thoughts when arranging this was to add power to some phrases by adding them in. Sort of like an automated close mic fader if you will.
@@randydominguezmusic hey, thanks for the reply! Yeah that’s what I figured. Also have been experimenting with automating mic pos. too As opposed to layering with different sample set. Sounds great here, I mean vista is an expressive lib, but It really like the presence and impact it adds. Happy Holidays!
Would you mind sharing the MIDI? This is awesome!
If I get some time I’ll let you know if I share the midi, thanks for watching!
Thanks. Let me know if you decide to share. Would love to study your mockup@@randydominguezmusic
Masterpiece gahdamn
can i have the midi for this
Really nice demo
Beautiful small pieces. Has that 80/90s sound 😍
Sounds great!
haha...great ending! yep - these ew hollywood strings still sound good in the right hands...
This is epic!!
Sounds so sick man!
What software is this?
Great job. Is this all by ear??
Thanks! It’s half by ear, and half reading sheet music. Really hard for me to re-score a John Williams tune by ear lol
@@randydominguezmusic Are the scores of it available? I would get the entire score for Episode 3 if I could, absolute masterpiece. Phantom Menace still the best score of all time though :)
@@simonpassmore I agree with you there for sure! All of the motifs and passages work so harmoniously throughout the film. There are a few “score breakdowns” on UA-cam, but to get the exact copy you have to pay hundreds of dollars sometimes.
@@randydominguezmusic Argh yeah they are very pricey but I can understand why. Glad you agree on Phantom Menace, string bit of Anakin's theme is absolutely to die for. Duel of the fates epic. Astonishing colours and sound worlds evoked with every piece in the score
I got all original scores wrote by williams himself, you dont need to pay hundrets of dollars for the original you need something to trade in, thats how i got my hands on the scores. The forum where you want to search for the scores is named VI Control. @@simonpassmore
Nice mockup! : )
Thanks!! :)
Bro I’ve legit had notifications on for like a year! Are you going to start uploading now? Edit: I didn’t even get the notification from a week ago lol
Nice! 😄 I’m pretty sure I’ll keep the momentum going with library/sample reviews and songs yea. Thanks for being apart of the long haul.
"peaceful day"
I like it!!!!
Alan thanks!!
@@randydominguezmusic i really hope to see more from you bty because i really like your theme especially the "dishonored dead" track!! That was epic!!!
