Playing with a Canters W14 transform for a map of the world; the cloud layer and rain layer are transformed as the data is collected. They are transparent layers shown above the map. The truncation is at the poles and was done for the 16x9 aspect ratio. I was drawn to the original projection map-projections.net/license/canters-w14:green-stf by its shape, which is largely lost when truncated.

Can you explain how the audio is produced? Is frequency modulated depending on the coordinates (variables value) or is the actual coordinate translated directly to sound amplitude? Seems to me that it is more like the first case, but what is the actual space used (frequency range, projection)?

I think the frequency resolution is way too low, considering its fractal nature.
The resolution is limited by the double precision math that is following the contour. If the contour follower's tolerance is reduced further, the follower gets caught in a small loop at some tight turns.
