After a poor summer on the Isles of Scilly I decided to go for another season 2024 and landed here on one of the islands. Here is a video of La difference being pulled out and a trip down memory land back to where the adventure started.
How to Camp Munros

Camping up a Munro is a challenging thing to do and I would only do it in the right conditions. Even though conditions were perfect it brings other problems like insects, sources of water.

A one years journey of owning a wooden boat La Difference. After searching for plastic boats my head was turned to wooden boat after being inspired by Leo @Sampson Boat Co on rebuilding 112 year old boat called Tally Ho. All planking, caulking and painting was done by me untrained in boatbuilding. Music is a recorded by me and is Aldous Harding on 2016 track Party

"Wood boats left to die, then resurrected. We too are neglected. You, a saviour. We absorb, like the dry timbers, thirsty for the artist's elixir" quoted from viewer, me give me more 🤌
Nice gravel
Nice vlog
cheers. dad rang other day
Next time you’re on camera, put the pants on😊
so onlyfans subscription is out of the question
Love that women's voice , and your boat too .
Cheers Mark. On a mooring right now go thro a storm. Very fun
Totally not my preferred type of music. But I loved it too. Such a complex voice needs a better mic, but the guitar was captured well. I found the performance vaguely reminiscent of a bootleg vinyl album I once had, of Nico singing with the Velvet Underground. What a breathtakingly beautiful boat, I had to press pause a few times, and gaze in awe. I never really liked full-length keels before, partly because of reputed issues with docking maneuverability, but that little gem looks like it would turn easily.
Whos strangling the cat ?
people who got nothing better to do but troll.. which i respect
@@sssiman cheers mate, I sound like a dying bear if I song....so..... I sing only as a form of torture 😂
Great job with boat and video!! Congratulations
Thanks Tim! Sailing her this summer has been great. Pulling her out again to work on engine next video
Loved the clever use of music especially the celebratory Widor as she became ready to launch. Well done!
Thanks Mark. Can you name the first track?
Good work. Liked the Widor, too.
Not something you can google.Well done, and cheers
Ppl who inspire other to good work are blessed 😊
yes Catherine I hope to show a shoe string approach that can get you sailing. But what you say is very true!
Shit music
💥💪💪💪
Nice editing and very dramatic 🎭. What sort of tractor 🚜 towed the trailer?
I think it was a Claas with a reverse seating arrangement
Bravo Captain Simon and La Difference! And especially loved the unexpected drilling the mast in your undies moment - gloriously strong look going on there with fabulously theatrical music. Maxy and me look forward to boarding her hopefully sometime soon! Xx
How did you go about finding a vessel like this one?
Good question. Time and luck. I bought her unseen and with a survey that was 20 years old. I would only buy if the boat was in the water, sailing and with a good motor. Its better then buying a house and you'll see the world(well maybe part of it). But you'll know when you know. Good luck and see you out there
seek and ye shall find! If you never want to be unemployed, buy a wood boat. It's a world within a world.

Nice house 🏡
My room was down the back!
Reka
Ahhhh sweet as bro. Thanks man!
Is that a early aldous harding.
I know aldous pretty well, she's cool
Yeah live from Golden Dawn, which I believe has closed down?
How do you know her? I’ve got a friend of friend who managed her.
Hi just an observation, why have you mixed calking both cotton and oakum I have only by preference used oakum but if I've had a loose softwood craft I would cotton above water only , but everyone has their own preferences, cheers for now
Good observation Brian! Solid name also.. The reason for the strand cotton is that the seams where to wide to loop with oakum. So twisting with a drill you can get the right amount of cotton in without blowing out the back. Not ideal but I was done with planking
@@sssiman in that case I would have tended to spline the real bad seems and use untwined oakum yes you can get buldge out on the inside but always neat with a spline . I use a jig on the sawbench to knock out splines glue one side only and tape it in this still let's the planks move and if needed it still can be calked in later years
Yes I know of this. She’s out of the water now so might investigate how those seams are holding up. Nothing has spelt yet
@@brianshields7137 we raked the seams and are refastening our 74 yr old Atkins trawler, it had a mix of cotton and oakum. We're considering cedar splines topsides but, undecided.. I'd agree though, gluing a new edge and recaulking is the proper way to go.
I thought the soundtrack was gorgeous..obviously you did as well. Don't people stop to think ( its so simple). The peanut gallery ought to know to keep in mind this production stems from the builders perspective & all that accompanies this is purely divine to them. Your boat is gorgeous..I suspect you were motivated by Magic Carpet & its owner. LuvYa..Canyon in California🎈I'd like to be 'hurt' more, please! My guess was - you are the singer..or its Nico.., please solve this mystery.. Wish you fair winds, Canyon
Luvya too Canyon!! Beauty is in the ear of the beholder. I don't follow Magic Carpet but have seen some of their vids. Viva La Difference
Great job ! But the music is tough on the ears and takes a bit away from your work !
Haha you want the scraping and planning version then
My interpretation- the lyrics portrayed a luv- song, complimenting the labor perfectly as well as bringing up a bunch of emotion for this guy🎈
The music might have been ok if i was recorded properly using decent sound equipment
Wow! Wonderful job! Another wooden boat saved and everyone smiling!❤
Haha there were a few tears
Great job! That is a lovely vessel and the crew looks happy! Well-done, you.
Cheers Michael! your vids look great
The song looks like if the muppets are on the boatyard, nice job bytheway...
Yeah well Beyoncé wouldn’t let me use her song single ladies so I had to make do
That song is murder.
Aldous Harding- her latest stuff is more up beat these days :) check it out
Beautiful vessel!
Thanks Lars. She is a 23" ocean baby. The boat behind her and being cut was a David Hillyard. Will do vid on this series
Nice. Watching from Bangladesh 🇧🇩🇧🇩
Thank you my friend. Bangladesh food is the best!
Inspired by Tally Ho? But wait, you didn’t build a new boat with the old one in the way! : ) Nice job, great accomplishment. But the video made it look way too easy. I know coz I’m just about to launch mine.
No, but i am slowly and yes it is easy cos im not building a new boat
