Link not working.
It happens! I have also been trialing one of these www.ebay.co.uk/itm/315829014177
@@RDVanConversions if you search how to fast charge laptop in your van from 12v you should find my video on what i use
Great video do you still have the link?

Hi pal. Where did you purchase the sikaflex kit please??
Hi it was ebay, but the listing is now out of stock, sure you can buy the components separately www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325966156993
Part 2 here - ua-cam.com/video/ngaTHyA3olo/v-deo.html covering install of Poynting Antenna and Speed Test
Thank you
The link is dysfunctional. What is the charger called and where can I purchase one?
Mirror is fitted, but I am still looking for a better option to make the mirror sit a bit lower as the video footage is recording the top third of the black pattern on the windscreen.
Awesome video and good to see our MP35 mounting plate adaptor helping out. I noticed the Auto Vox bracket is quite a bit shorter and less adjustment than our equivalent with double ball joint. However it seems the Auto Vox use a different mounting point for fitting the bracket, which rules our longer bracket out of the equation. Looks great anyway. All the best, Regards, Martin.
Thanks, I am still looking for an option to drop the Auto-Vox down a few inches as the top third of the video is recording the black mesh pattern on the windscreen!
Hi there,i watched the video of you fitting the double seat in the back of your van and was wondering is it ok to have only one seat belt on a double seat if you only plan to use one of the seats while driving.Im thinking of doing the same job but was a bit concerned that for MOT purposes.thanks.
This is the video linked by evo as an instruction video but I feel I should say a couple of things. 1 - Don't use a grinder without masking up evetrything where sparks will end up! The hot sparks stick in the lacquer and create rust spots. Hand nibblers get through the inner braces. A jig saw or airsaw on a high speed (up and down mode only) with a <1.5mm steel cutting blade will do a neat job, better than a nibbler. I have a M12 nibbler which is a fantastic tool but they are a pain with the double wall unless you have a longer nibbler nose. When you move around the corner it can create ripples in the metal edge. Obviously these wownt be seen but its just awkward. 2 - Work out where the adhesive is going to go and only scuff that area only! Be careful not to go to the outer edge as those scratches can be seen. On a pedantic note, youre removing metal protection so be mindful of that. 3 - Make sure the bead of adhesive is uniform without any gaps maybe first time otherwise theres more chance of leaks and it will squish out the edge and cause you to run around cleaning it up. On that note, mask up the entire side of the van so you cant possibly get adhesive where you don't want it. If you put the side pod on a small table you can slowly walk around the entire thing to get that uniform bead. 4 - Don't put painted items, like a window (with its powder coated surround) on an abrasive surface such as brick drive, you'll scratch them. Sorry but you're making me cringe. 5 - Personally, I would use Sika 552 because its been formulated for this very application: vehicle panel bonding, compatible with metal, fiberglass, plastic, wood. 552 provides better resilience to vibration and more importantly to my earlier point, doesn't need a primer! The activator is a clear alcohol solution. I honestly dont mean to be 'that guy on the internet', its just my opinion on fitting these pods.
Thanks for the advice, but I would still always use Sikaflex 252, it's way stronger I use 522 for sealing jobs but would not trust a side pod with it
does the fitting of them have to be certified.
Brilliant, thanks for doing this video.
I have a front passenger bench, do you think I could modify them to sit in the rear right behind the driver? I can't find any videos on this, I have a 2021 sprinter.
This is exactly what my seats are. It's a double front passenger seat from a Crafter, the mercedes will be just the same just with slightly different mounting points.
finally simple clear explanation- Many thanks-following now!
Hi have you done part 2 yet because I can't find it?
ua-cam.com/video/ngaTHyA3olo/v-deo.html
That oil looks dark... oil change needed

Pretty good video, we just installed ours, ( 2nd one). Dang, that Mercedes sheet metal looks pretty 'flexible' compared to a old Dodge.
Just what I was looking for. In 3 months I go full time in my van and need internet (Run a daily podcast).
Hi, where's the link?
Please explain powering the router. Does it only work when the engine is running? Can it run on 3 pin normal socket? Is it something you charge up occasionally? Would it quickly run down the leisure battery when off grid? Excuse my ignorance. I really want to solve this problem. Even free campsite wifi is often very patchy. Many thanks for this interesting and useful video.🌷
The Hauwei Router I have is actually 12V - The 240v transformer that you would normally plug into the mains outputs 12V so you can just connect the router direct to your leisure battery - hence the reason for getting this router!
Smarty uses the THREE network NOT EE (BT).
Great video, thank you. Can't seem to find part 2... Can you post a link, please?
ua-cam.com/video/ngaTHyA3olo/v-deo.html
Stupid question- what is the solution for getting wifi where I cannot even get a cellphone signal? I am often in places where there is no signal at all- so no point in having a router ? Need satellite?
Starlink is very good in my experience. ( But in a marine environment in the North Sea, if that helps? )
Great video just what i needed thank you!
I am going to spain, but my parents don't have Internet, which router is a good one 5g if possible
A most useful overview. Thank you.
This was helpful but I need the help with the electrical connection and everyone seems to skip that last step on their videos lol
Wow
Think smarty uses the 3 network. Think it's owned by 3.
Like it..
Interesting, thanks..
The wind will blow under and over the vehicle. Mobile homes will block off underneath and it really makes a difference in keeping warm. Also, decide where you will spend your time and build for that. A build is different for rain forest, desert, or -40 degrees.
I've got unlimited Internet from 3 £ 18.50 in my phone used as hot spot I have no problems ?????
Nothing wrong with using your phone as a hotspot if it works for you - then great.
How much data do I have? Is my phone plugged into a charger. Is my phone next to the window so not in the box? All these problems with a phone Hotspot are non existent if you have unlimited data, plug your phone in and put it close to the window.
Mine just gets really hot after an hour or so of use!
Is there much difference between a mifi and a router then? Just seems a mifi is the same thing ht smaller and with a battery. Is that smarty sim of yours just for you UK or Europe?
Smarty sim can be used in Europe. 12GB data cap
No difference really, router I can connect to 12v and also has ethernet ports so I can turn of wifi - sometimes I don't want to be in a tin box with a wifi router blasting out! Yes it's a bit bigger, but I have ours in a small space above the cab. Everyone's use case is differnent, I wanted 12v power, external antenna and an ethernet port so router was the only option
Sorry pal but you’ve got hanmerite all over the bumper ! And why didn’t you unscrew the latches so you can paint under ? Bit if a cowboy job that !
First time I've done anything like this, learning every day
All you need is a step up
If anyone knows of a wall mount solution for the Huawei B625 router please let me know if you could 3D print me something! - Thanks
You can get self adhesive velcro attach to wall and router and press together should be pretty sturdy
@@fyvoin6964 it has wires coming out the back for the antenna, so I don't have a flat surface I have sat it in a block of solid foam with a hole cut out and working well
Starlink is incredibly fast and reliable.
£100 per month for star link or £20 using smarty sim and wireless modem
Yes, it is incredibly fast and reliable, but most people do not require internet from anywhere, if you need it, it's worth the money, for me £10 a month on my Smarty Sim is doing the job for now
Another option: I use my 3 network home router using 4g data SIM card which can be powered by any power bank using power jack to USB cable.
So many options to get internet in your campervan, I am actually looking for a smaller router as this one does take up a lot of space in the cupboard!
Thought Smarty used the Three network not EE?
It does.
I was told by EE Smarty uses Vodafone 🤷♂️
no definitely uses Three network@@micksparrow8214
Smarty uses the THREE network, not ee. If you have enough data on your phone, tethering is the easiest and simplest option. I have big data on my ee, and my girlfriend has plenty of data on her Smarty so almost always have internet via tethering.
Sorry, my router was an EE router and I did say Smarty uses EE, you are correct in that Smarty uses the Three network!
looking forward to the part 2
ua-cam.com/video/ngaTHyA3olo/v-deo.html
Can you boost the mobile phone signal inside the ‘metal box’
Not unless you get a repeater with an antenna on the roof which will boost your phone signal in the van, it’s what they do in large offices with poor mobile reception but not something you want to be doing in a Campervan!
Hi. How do you fix the bigger hole? Thanks
I used some of the metal from when the windows were installed and cut a square to go over the hole and using a hammer moulded it to fit the rib, and just used Sikaflex and stuck it down.
Looks nice but won't the insulation value of that floor be governed by the wood and tape? Not sure how else to do it ovc and am about to do my first van I'll do much the same but might wrap the wood a couple of times with the tape
In parts maybe yes, you can just lay an entire sheet of Celotex down and put Ply on top of that to improve the insulation, but I wanted something solid to fix things to. This is how most do their floor and I think is the best way.
Good tip on slightly smaller fan unit fitting better, not heard anyone mention it before 👍 Subscribed to follow your build 😎
Thanks! Best tip I have got since starting my build!

Think another thing to point out is half the people doing conversions are all liars 😂 theyll sweep out / clean up the interior maybe get as far ss you have / put in some ply walls of precut boards then magically off camera huge chunks get done that are the exact stei by step professional fitters do lol.
Exacltly, it's not until I started that I realised how much mess there is and nobody shows the mess!
@RDVanConversions insulation/ sound deadening cam be a nightmare fir mess at times, or turn your fingers into a mess with that tinfoil backed foam, little pieces everywhere ready to give you a little nick 🤣
