A compilation of parts of The Ghosts of Pripyat tour (excellent album, btw) held at 'Das Rind', a small venue with perhaps 200 people. All taken from the second half of the show which was a live performance of the entire Misplaced Childhood album, celebrating 30 years since its release. Martin Jakubski from StillMarillion on vocals. Includes all of Kayleigh. The encores were Sugar Mice, Cindere...

Filmed on an iPhone, whose mike was kind of overloaded. But hey, it was loud on the night.

From the album This is My Truth, Tell Me Yours. They closed the show with this one. In keeping with tradition, there was no encore. Nicky Wire had a stomach bug that night and, having left the stage for one song earlier on, he disappeared pretty quickly once they'd finished. Recorded at Gibson Club from the back of the hall on an iPhone.

Two ITV News reports on how Roger finally found out what happened to his father, killed at Anzio in WW2. In February 2014, on the 70th anniversary of his father's death, Roger unveiled a memorial to him and to Royal Fusiliers Z Company ("Company Zee," as he pronounced it in the song When The Tigers Broke Free).

When the tigers broke free: "It was just before dawn One miserable morning in black 'forty four When the forward commander Was told to sit tight When he asked that his men be withdrawn And the Generals gave thanks As the other ranks held back The enemy tanks for a while And the Anzio bridgehead Was held for the price Of a few hundred ordinary lives And kind old King George Sent mother a note When he heard that father was gone It was, I recall In the form of a scroll With gold leaf adorned And I found it one day In a drawer of old photographs, hidden away And my eyes still grow damp to remember His Majesty signed With his own rubber stamp It was dark all around There was frost in the ground When the tigers broke free And no one survived From the Royal Fusiliers Company Z They were all left behind Most of them dead The rest of them dying And that's how the High Command Took my daddy from me" For Eric Fletcher Waters

Narcissist. What about the other 100,000’s that died there? Americans, Germans, Italians, Aussies......they had children, too! Understand his anger to the King, but he is not unique, just famous.

I don't know about the statement "the british high command took my daddy from me" - It was more like Hitler, Mussolini and their aspirations did. But of course that quote is art and it is very personal. I just hope , for logic and reasons sake....Waters really doesn't think that way

I didn't know his dad's middle name was 'Fletcher' -- a name that has something to do with attaching the feathers to arrows, back in the day before the invention of the gun. The song "The Fletcher Memorial Home" from THE FINAL CUT takes on a whole new meaning now, his dad's death being due to decisions by "incurable wasters of life and limb" -- with Roger, if he had his way, establishing a kind of insane asylum where all the world's evil war promulgators ought to be incarcerated . . . "Now the final solution can be applied..."

With all due respect Mr . Waters, thousands of young boys and girls lost their fathers in the War.

Roger has acknowledged that many times...certainly you could be sympathetic to a man who lost his father before he ever had a chance to know him.

@@stephenstone8480 Very familiar with the loss of his father in Anzio, Italy. That's my point. He acts like he's the only one. He helped his friend Geldoff fund the Eritrean Genocide due to his arrogance, handing millions to that Monster, Haile Mengistu. No songs for those dead fathers. I liked his music though.

@@guymontag9577 "He acts like he's the only one" -- WTF??? The song after "Vera Lynn" on the album (and in the movie) THE WALL has the lyric: Bring the boys back home! Don't leave the children on their own! No! No! Bring the boys back home!" Right there he acknowledges the other CHILDREN who were to become fatherless because of the war. He knows he's not the only kid who grew up without a dad. "He acts like he's the only one" . . . BULLSHIT, you evil fucking prick! You liked his music -- but I'm guessing he doesn't need you to be a 'fan' of his.

Thanks for recording this broadcast. I was trying to explain to my kids the song’s meaning and this was perfect to share with them. Lost my grandfather and his brother during the Italy Campaign. US Army but still the same thing. It’s almost 17 years since I lost my brother in Iraq. I made it through to retirement in the Marines. My father made it through Vietnam. I’m starting to understand why he never gets patriotic about having to go to war, I’m starting to feel that way myself now. Like the song “the band played waltzing Matilda” I understand that song now. I hope my kids don’t join the military. I need to break the cycle.
