Yeezus was his "death of the cd" medium. This was said by Virgil and Ye when spoke on the meaning of the cover. This was also reinforced by the fact that TLOP did not have a CD release and was way more connected to the internet. TLOP became the first platinum album ONLY on streaming .

…seems like you have the ONLY copy in world of this damn CD…I don’t get it. I’m thinking SiR is pulling a damn Frank Ocean on us with this, like Frank did with the Blonde CD…limited, unorthodox release. Even if you do manage to find a copy for sale at some point in the future (5 or 10+ years from now), it will be hundreds of dollars 👎🏾
