I love how the storyboard is all the same except Varian is depressed the whole time and no one really cares they’re just singing and dancing around him

The story board seems to have stronger winds than the final result, but it is just as equally cool. That design of Varian's hair is unnerving me a little though 😅 1:21 I like how many small details changed but the broken tree stays.

Storyboards nowdays are almost fully animated due to pressures from the producers who want to have something between the board and the animation layout. That gives a lot more work to do for the storyboard artists without being paid more and the efficiency of this new generation of storyboard is just the same of the older one. Just watch the story reel from Beauty and the Beast, it didn't need to add so much panels to give the right feeling of what the final film would be. But it was pleasant to watch this clip. Producers, if you want the storyboard artists to animate, just give them some extra money and credit.

I feel like they hold back on the lighting and shading in the final versions a lot, a shame that they didn't utilize the light and shadow contrast that was in the storyboard here.

Interesting differences. I like that they added the little flair with his cape in the final version. But I actually kind of prefer what they did with his raccoon buddy in the storyboard, where we see him showing more concern than fear. IDK, I get why they changed it, but just my personal feeling on it I guess. I also noticed the final expression he makes when he looks up is A LOT creepier in the storyboard, lol. He looks almost dead inside, or taken by some kind of trance. Meanwhile in the final version you can see all the pain and anger in his eyes.

Decided to make this old school project public in 2022, as it reflects on the theme of change - and while cheaply produced, it actually a decently good exploration of something I love - change in the theme parks.

Varian was very sad in that storyboard, but I'm actually really glad they put his dad back in the script, otherwise this episode would have been super depressing for him.😅
