First time on the World Cup Downhill Trail- Ft. William Scotland
World Cup Downhill Trail at Nevis Range Bike Park
Rider: Brad Christian
Bike: SARACEN Myst 4
Location: Fort William, Scottish Highlands
Difficulty: Black (Expert)
Trail Length: 2.82 km
Elevation Drop: 555 meters
Description: The World Cup Downhill Trail at Nevis Range Bike Park in Fort William is one of the most iconic and demanding downhill mountain bike trails in the world. Host to the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup since 2002, this trail is revered by pro riders and amateurs alike for its extreme technical difficulty, punishing terrain, and steep descents.
Beginning at the top of Aonach Mòr, accessible by gondola, the trail immediately throws riders into a high-speed descent with steep, rocky sections, sharp switchbacks, and bone-jarring rock gardens. The upper sections of the trail are exposed, offering stunning views of Ben Nevis and the surrounding Highlands.
As the trail progresses, riders face a relentless barrage of challenging features, including rooty, off-camber sections, massive jumps, drops, and technical chutes. The infamous "Hazzard Hoofer" rock garden and "The Wall" near the bottom of the course are particularly known for testing even the most seasoned riders' technical skills and nerve.
The final part of the trail takes riders through the notorious motorway section, with massive jumps & tabletops. I only had one day to ride here so I mostly avoided the final motorway jumps and opted for the left-hand side cheat route.
The trail finishes in the World Cup arena, often filled with crowds during events, making it a truly unique experience to ride a course used by the best in the sport.

Armuchee Express is a really fun, high-speed green trail at Jarrod’s Place Bike Park. When combined with Blue Monkey, you can have an insanely awesome top to bottom run.

This is Blue Monkey, a double blue and the newest trail to open at Jarrod's Place Bike Park in Summerville, GA. It starts at the top, so you've got to endure that painful climb, but it's worth it. You can also connect this with Armuchee Express (green) for a high speed top to bottom run. My first run down so kinda slow, but highly recommend. jarrodsplacebikepark.com/ #downhillmountainbiking #en...

Finally got the first MTB ride of ’24 in. @Jarods_place. Georgia’s first, and so far only, shuttle serviced bike park. This clip in no way shows all that this park has to offer. It was chilly and there was still ice in some places but felt great to be there. There will be more in ’24 from jarod’s. @santacruz @troylee designs @fox @smith #enduro #downhill #offcamber

god bless the 2016 690 enduro r. I lived on the thing for 4 months 10,000kms and the engine keeps getting better. I'm beyond impressed with the sprocket wear, but one thing that needs to be mentioned/made a bulletin is the fact that if you do ride hard and long the hoses and cables will need to be reinforced/insulted from vibrations, wear will happen fast.

The video is better thanks to the use of a cameraman and some editing. I can't stand it when people post one-cheek videos that are raw, unedited, poor sound, lots of nothing time, poorly lit, shaky, and too long for the little info they give.

I have one and agree that it's (almost) the perfect compromise. It would be utterly perfect of it were a twin cylinder engine for smoother vibes on the freeway over 65mph. It can cruise at 80, but that's a bone-rattling, squirrely experience. ;). I'd take on another 30 pounds for the extra cylinder.

Great vids on your new KLR. I have an '09 KLR that I just painted satin black. Great to see another black beauty out there. The most impressive mod on your bike I thought was the headlights. The mix of HID and LED is incredible! Where did you source your bulbs?

Todd. Thank for the input. I think the 450 sounds like a good choice. We have a few KLR'S in the AOG crew, and have debated attempting Ocala sometime. You could force it thru most of the trails, even deep sand, but it wouldn't be fun. Cheers.

Earlier this year I went out and bought myself a '15 KLR 650 with the intent of trail riding in the Ocala National Forest. Even got myself a season pass. But, after finding that it wasn't highway speed friendly I promptly traded it in for a '15 Versys 1000 LT that I wouldn't dare take on trails. After watching you guys playing out there I'm seriously considering an investment on a new KTM 450 so I can play too. Thanks for uploading this

I got the Tusk Panniers racks and they work very well. As far as some soft bags go ask around. Offroad riding is really rough on bags. Bouncing around is hard on them. I got the Nelson-Rigg bags, good bags but ended up putting on a couple of bunge cords to help control the bouncing. I like the bags and not giving up on them yet. Building a L shaped frame to hold the bags and then I could just snap them into the Tusk rack. The SW motec are the best guards, I launched my bike off the trail and landed on the guards, did bend in about an inch but did nothing else. Get the low profile drain plug. My skid plate has the original plug stick out a little. Great bike
