GARMIN Mk1 Dive computer serious flaws and service policy
I have been using the Garmin Mk1 dive computer for 2 years. I would like to report a serious problem with this dive computer.
When planning a 36% Nitrox dive, I experienced a fatal bug where the MoD allowed up to 47 meters. This is an oxygen partial pressure above 2.0 and can lead to fatal accidents. This phenomenon is rare, and the number of MoD changes randomly every time.
I almost experienced oxygen poisoning with this absurd dive computer. Luckily I didn't use this computer for nitrox diving because I knew I would calculate the MoD myself.
Also, as you can see from the video you see, there is a phenomenon where buttons are pushed at will. This led to an embarrassing experience of starting diving in gauge or swim mode rather than scuba diving mode.
What's even more annoying is that when you asked to repair a serious dive computer like this, the Garmin Service Center demanded a $ 150 repair fee on the excuse that the one-year warranty had ended.
I wonder if Garmin is a responsible company that demands $ 150 to pay for a refurbished replacement condition. If it is a normal company, it is necessary to collect the product in question, find out the cause, and update the SW.
