Routes have to be inspected on a regular basis, usually once every 6 months. It's one way to determine whether routes should be adjusted and made either longer or shorter. I'm a carrier and I actually feel sorry for supervisors when they have to do this. I'd shoot myself if I had to inspect routes; I think the time would drag out to infinity. By the way, the narrator is an idiot. He speaks in a patronizing manner, like he's so much better than others. Better at sucking dicks, maybe.

It could be either a 3999, or the supervisor could be conducting a 4584 which is a DRIVER OBSERVATION, if a letter carrier gives a poor return time the supervisor can go out with the carrier to help correct his/her time wasting practices. Either way thanks for sharing your thoughts.

It's called a route inspection every route is walked with a supervisor one a year. It's not done everyday. I've been a carrier for 25 years and this rube is a dumb ass.

if this video was really taken in August.. Management can't do route inspections during the summer months, due to reduction in mail volume.. (no school or political mail) They don't do em in the summer, just like they WONT do them during the peak holiday months in the fall/winter..

Prior to mail count our supervisor is required to do a route evaluation. Assuring that our route description for that route is accurate. They also follow us briefly and randomly throughout the year for safety. We do not operate off of tax dollars! Also we are the second largest contributed to medicare,.... However we are unable to benefit from it after retirement. FYI....WE ARE A GOVERNMENT ENTITY THAT IS INDEPENDENTLY MANAGED and ARE REQUIRED TO REPORT BACK TO THE GOVERNMENT. SO THAT MEANS RESTRUCTURING AND EFFICIENCY SO NO MONEY IS WASTED.

lmao Hey dummy, this is what saves the post office money. How do you think we get paid, per mail box and volume of mail. These are done to be sure it is all correct to save the post office money. Maybe you should research before you sound so stupid. It's called route inspection. It's done to be check on active boxes. It's not always done with them following, sometimes they are in the postal jeep with the carrier, or sometimes it's in our personal cars, with us paying the gas. They also follow us every now and again, just to be sure we are driving safely to protect the public and the carrier.

It's shitty letter carriers like this that usps is loosing money on. Constant supervision just so he/she does the job properly and efficiently. It's not a route inspection, it's a supervision of a shitty letter carrier.

I suspect someone or area is under supervision because of lost mail/ lost certified mail. In the 80's my mother sent a bill by certified mail and the people signed for it but still said they did not get payment. Mother went to court and won the case for the total of the purchase price she was making payments on.

I'm a carrier, rural. This is a route inspection. In my case the Postmaster rides with me but as LLV's do not have a second seat they follow in their own car. This is only done once a year to ensure the route times are correct. Occasionally routes are checked over a couple days if major changes are in the works for a route or routes. And occasionally other supervisors unknown to the carrier may follow for a time. This is done to make sure the routes are as safe and efficient as possible.

FYI the usps doesn't get a penny from the government, Know your facts before putting crap like this on the internet.

Interesting that the supervisor, who is watching the carrier so closely, runs the stop sign and parks right on the corner. Postal policy is to park a minimum of 30 feet from a controlled intersection and most cities have laws that require 15 feet.
