    Where can I get the Y-splitter?

  • @gjforeman
    @gjforeman 4 місяці тому

    Thanks for the video. I'm about to install both Bit Setter and Bit Zero. As an old-time electronics tech, I'm worried about putting that added connector board inside the housing with no additional insulation to keep it out of random contact mischief with the main PCB. Since it doesn't seem to contain any active devices in need of cooling, I'll probably mummify it with black tape first.

    • @boxcrafted
      @boxcrafted 4 місяці тому

      That's probably a good idea. However, you may want to wrap it in a layer of bubble wrap or clear plastic first in case you ever need to remove the back electrical tape.

    Is there a link for the splitter that allows you to use both setter and zero I don’t have one and need to purchase one unless anyone knows a different way to use both

      Everything I needed for the install came with the BitSetter. I suggest you contact support at Carbide 3D. They should be able to send you one.

    I recently bought my first CNC (Shapeoko 3 XXL) used, and it has a BitSetter installed but I’ve been using the touch plate to probe for Z zero every time. I knew the BitSetter had to be more useful … thanks!!

    Anyone have video or installation procedures for the new rectangular Shapeoko 4 Bit Setter? I received from Carbide and it came without parts list and instructions. I think I may be missing parts?? I have a Shapeoko XXL Pro and can't figure out how to mount it to the frame - it's totally different than the V2. Any help would be great, Thanks!!

    Really cool use of salvaged material throughout! I have been restraining myself from buying a CNC for about a year. Learning the shapeko is modular is going to make that considerably more difficult! Thank you!

    • @boxcrafted
      @boxcrafted 3 роки тому

      Thanks for watching the video and commenting! The modularity is one of the main things that drew me to the Shapeoko. I wasn't certain I'd like it as much as I discovered I do, and didn't want to sink quite as much money as the XXL costs. Plus I was debating which to get between the CNC or a laser engraver. But then I learned that a diode laser can be added to the CNC and the decision was made!

    you can still set Z zero on the 60/90 deg v using the Bit Zero. Even though there isn't a v bit option, just pull up an 1/8 end and zero as you would an endmill. All the program is doing is completing a ground loop thru the bit to trigger the grbl board. Wasn't sure what the reference is to the drafting rule though ?

    • @boxcrafted
      @boxcrafted 4 роки тому

      I didn't want to dull the tip of the v-bit against the metal of the Bit Zero. But that's a moot point as I now have a Bit Setter and it doesn't give you an option to skip measuring for individual bits. I used the drafting ruler to make sure where I touched off for zero would be over a star. Just making sure that I didn't put a mark in between the stars. Yeah, overly cautious.
